thumbnail.jpg  Carmela (LaRussa) Deni, 92, of Batavia passed away peacefully on July 17, 2022. She was born on May 30, 1930 in Batavia to the late Lawrence LaRussa and Bertha (DeBole) LaRussa. She is preceded in death by her husband; Joseph Deni.

Carmela was a long-time member of St Joseph's Church (Resurrection Parish) in Batavia.

She is survived by her five sons; James (Simone) Deni, Lawrence (Roseann) Deni, Joseph (Kathryn) Deni, Thomas Deni, Michael (Deborah) Deni; her sisters Marian (William) Heisler and Loretta (John) MacKenzie, as well as several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. A 12:00PM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday July 19, 2022 Resurrection Parish 303 East Main St. Batavia, NY 14020. She will be entombed in Msgr. Kelly Mausoleum in Batavia.

Melissa June LeSage, "Missy," 55, of Penfield, passed away on July 14, 2022 at Highland Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Missy was born July 18, 1966 in Batavia, a daughter of Sue LeSage.  Missy entered the world with her loving twin, Mindy, following closely behind.

She was full of life, love and laughter.  Missy was born a decisive and determined little girl and remained that way her entire time on earth.  She held a special place in anyone’s heart that she came in contact with.  Missy loved her pretties, scarfs, laughing out loud and being with her Susie.  Missy enjoyed walks and being outside.  She was known for making you turn the lights on and off multiple times.  Missy treasured her weekly trips with Debbie Bean, an extra special friend of 38 years.

Missy’s family would like to thank the ICU staff at Highland Hospital for the love and care they gave Missy in her final days.

Surviving along with her mother are her sisters, Melinda Quaintance, Lisa Smith and Emilie Moss; brother, Jess LeSage, many nieces, nephews and great nephews.  Missy was a blessing to a loving family.  Missy is also survived by her family at Baird Road and the rest of the staff at Heritage Christian Services.

Preceded in death by her brother, Jason LeSage and grandmother, June Vile.  

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

taylor_timmy_-_photo1.jpgTimmy Lee Taylor, 47 of Troy, NY and formerly of Batavia, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 11, 2022.

He was born November 27, 1974 in Batavia, NY, a son of the late John Taylor and Mary Francis Tyson Taylor.

Tim was a photogenic person who loved taking pictures with family and friends. He enjoyed basketball, fishing and safari animals. Most of all, he was a caring person who loved his family and put a smile on anyone’s face who would come into contact with him.

He was the brother of the late Della Tyson.

He is survived by his five children, Sharmaine Powell of North Carolina, Timmy Taylor Jr. of Corfu, Tyshon Taylor of Batavia, Andrae Taylor of Batavia and Dominic Taylor of Batavia. Grandson, Andrae Lee Taylor Jr. and his sister, Priscilla Leonard of Georgia. Also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Wednesday (July 20th) from 5-7pm at the J. marjorieamargebisig.jpgMarjorie A. “Marge” Bisig, 91 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2022 at the Grand Rehabilitation & Nursing in Batavia. She was born September 8, 1930 in Barre Center, to the late Raymond and Marion (Wigton) Vereecken. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard Bisig whom she married July 1, 1950; brother Raymond Vereecken, son-in-law Daryl Cook and daughter-in-law Debra Bisig.

Mrs. Bisig enjoyed thrift shopping, walking and spending time with her friends. Her family was her hobby, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving children, Suzanne Cook of Batavia, John (Barbara) of Elba, Donald Bisig of Elba, Charles (Penny) Schenck of Moravia, Shirley (Horace) Waldron Jr. of Oakfield, Linda (Richard) Smith of Basom, Richard Bisig of Batavia, sister Ellajean Gerhardt of Las Vegas, NV, 25 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 from 4 to 7pm at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street, Batavia, NY 14020. A 10:00am Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at the Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Elba.

Gunter Kreimeier, 93, of Batavia, passed away on July 12, 2022 at Crossroads House.

Gunter was born January 2,1929 in Stade, Germany, the son of the late Herman and Imgarrd (Ranzinger) Kreimeier.

Gunter was a member of Godfrey's Pond and enjoyed hunting, having traveled extensively for big game.

Surviving are his wife, Waltraut "Trudy" Kreimeier of Batavia, they were married on September 29, 1951.  Many dear friends also survive.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. also on Tuesday.  Private burial will be held in Grandview Cemetery, Batavia.

Batavia - Donald N. VanBuren, 90 of Batavia, passed away on Tuesday (July 12, 2022) at home. 

Mr. VanBuren was born March 15, 1932 in Batavia, a son of the late Nelson and Mildred (Townsend) VanBuren. He would go on to serve his country in the Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Veness-Strollo VFW in Batavia and enjoyed going to garage sales and flea markets. A bit of a gambler, Donald liked to bet the ponies and play scratch-offs. He was a talented piano player and greatly liked tinkering with lawn mowers. 

Donald is predeceased by his wife, Norma Jean VanBuren; daughters, Martha and Ruby; son, Donald.

Surviving are his children, Eric Chambers of Medina, Bobby (Becky) of Batavia, Mary Rice of Maryland, Millie Villa of Batavia, son, Dennis Ralph Hewston of Florida; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Tom Dougal of West Virginia; special friends of the family, Gail Garitz, and Brian Fisher of Batavia. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street in Batavia, where Donald's funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 6 p.m. Interment, with military honors will be held in Western New York National Cemetery in Pembroke on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. (please assemble by 10:45 a.m.). East Bethany ~ Lewis Allen Rhinehart, age 78, passed away Wednesday morning (July 13, 2022) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

   173rd_sky_soldiers_0.jpg  He was born November 29, 1943, in Rochester, NY to the late Homer and Marjorie Rhinehart.

     Lewis is survived by his daughter, Crystal; sister Ruth Parnell and special nephew, Scott Parnell.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews across the country.  Lewis was predeceased by his wife, Beverly; his brothers, William, Ronald, John, Homer Jr., Walter and sister, Doris.

     Lewis worked for many years as a carpenter for Harry Pimm, Jr., before moving on to work as a security guard for Sabin Metal until he retired in the early 2000’s.

     Lewis spent his retirement with his wife, Beverly until her passing in 2011; while also cuddling with his beloved dog, Peanut and collecting John Deere tractor models.

     Family and friends may call on Sunday, July 17 from 1 ~ 4 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake St. Rd. (Rt. 19), LeRoy.  Graveside prayers and military honors will be held on Monday, July 18 at 11:00 AM at the Pavilion Cemetery.

Wayland – Ann M. (Hargrave) Schubmehl, 87, passed away late Wednesday evening, July 6, 2022, at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris with family
by her side. Ann was born January 29, 1935 in Dansville, the daughter of the late Alvin and Anna M. (Lathrop) Hargrave. Ann and her family moved to Wayland when she was 5 years old and has remained a lifelong resident of the Wayland area until her move to Mt. Morris several years ago. Ann was a member of the first graduating class from the newly built Wayland Central School in 1953.

Ann and Herman “Herm” Schubmehl were married November 28, 1953 at St. Joseph’s Church by a special friend, Msgr. Gerard Krieg. Together they celebrated 52 years of marriage prior to
Herm passing away in June of 2006. Ann worked at Westinghouse assisting with the manufacturing of tubes for televisions. Once children came along, Ann was a devoted homemaker for her husband and children. After the children were grown, she worked at Tops in Dansville for 18 years.

Ann’s hobbies were many, and the work endless. She enjoyed reading, knitting and gardening; both flowers and vegetables. The family vegetable business supplied hundreds of quarts of
vegetables, which she canned to feed her family throughout the year. Ann loved baseball and was a Little League mom, always helping when she could. Ann frequently traveled with her
best friends, Nancy Goodrich and RoseAnn Wolfanger, in her later years. Ann was a dedicated and faithful member of St. Joseph’s Church, as it was a very important part of her life.
Ann was predeceased by her parents, Alvin and Anna Hargrave; her husband, Herm Schubmehl; 2 sons, John and Steven Schubmehl; and her brother Jim “Al” Hargrave. She is
survived by her children: David (Mary Ann) Schubmehl, of Delmar; Thomas (Cindy) Schubmehl, of Corfu; Peter (Kara) Schubmehl, of Delmar; Marybeth (Rodney) Renn of Ossian; and daughter- in-law Linda Schubmehl, of Wayland. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; her siblings, Joyce Wolfanger Seigfred, of Rochester; Robert (Carol) Hargrave of Rocky Mount, NC; and sister-in-law Shirley Hargrave, of Wayland; and many nieces and nephews.

Ann’s family and friends may call Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 4-7 pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for
Ann on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 10 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 206 Fremont St., Wayland. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Perkinsville. There will be a luncheon provided at the Perkinsville Fire Dept. by the Ladies Auxiliary.

Stafford - Richard M. Lewis, 60 of Batavia, passed away on Saturday, (July 9, 2022) at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

Mr. Lewis was born September 1, 1961 in Batavia, a son of the late Richard H. and Elizabeth (Howe) Lewis.

Rick worked as a corrections officer at Attica Prison for over 25 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Batavia. A avid Buffalo Bills and NY Yankees fan, Rick loved to play cards and tennis. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and could often be found at Godfrey's Pond.

Rick is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Roberts) Lewis of Stafford; son, Andrew Lewis of Stafford; step-daughter, Melissa Herrington of Syracuse; sisters, Shari Yark of Batavia and Wendy (Russell) Marchese of Batavia; nieces and nephews, Rachel (Robert) Kuszlyk, Hannah (Peter) Marchese-Beuler, Bethanie Marchese, R.J. (Christine) Marchese, and Kathryn (Andrew) Williams; a special niece, Maranda (Michael) Newton. Several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Lance Lewis.
