Mary Ann Medley, 71, of Le Roy died Thursday (September 8, 2011). Prior to moving to Le Roy in 2003, Mrs. Medley was a longtime resident of Batavia. Mary Ann moved to Batavia with her husband in 1965 where she raised her family while continuing her teaching career as a substitute teacher in the Batavia School District. In 1976, Mrs. Medley began a 27-year career at Elba Central School where she taught reading, before retiring in 2002. She earned both her master’s degree, as a Dean’s Scholar, and post-master's certificates in reading education from SUNY Brockport.
Mary Ann loved spending time with family and friends, teaching, music, gardening, sewing, reading, her pets, and attending sporting events with her husband, but her pride and joy were her five grandchildren, whom she adored.
