Donald Anson Litzenberger Stafford - Mr. Donald Anson Litzenberger, 77, of Stafford, died Monday, (June 14, 2010)at United Memorial Medical Center.

Mr. Litzenberger was born October 9, 1932 in Greece, a son of the late Louis and June (Heidrick) Litzenberger.

Mr. Litzenberger was an engineer at Olin Chemical Corporation in Rochester for 35 years. He was a member of Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph’s Church, Byron Fire Department & Rescue Squad and the LeRoy Moose Club. A veteran, he served with the United States Army.

Survivors include wife, Catherine (Linsler) Litzenberger of Stafford; two sons, Glenn Litzenberger of Pavilion and Gary Litzenberger of Batavia; a daughter, Lynne (Gary) Hopkins of Attica; three stepsons,  William K. Emminger of Fredericksburg, Virginia, John (Mary) Emminger of Batavia and Keith (Jennifer) Emminger of Dansbury, Connecticut; two step-daughters, Kathy (Joseph) Giambra of Lewiston and Linda Emminger of Batavia; three brothers, George (Donna) Litzenberger, Louis (Janet) Litzenberger and  Ralph (Janice) Litzenberger, all of Rochester; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph’s Site, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Batavia. Noel "Butch" Elmore, 65, of Batavia, died Sunday (June 13, 2010) at Rochester General Hospital.

He was born in Batavia on July 9, 1944 a son of the late Thomas and Doris Noel Elmore.

He was a member of Resurection Parish (St. Joseph Church) in Batavia and was retired from the Batavia Department of Pulbic Works.

Surviving is his wife of over 43 years, Dorothy A. Batchelor Elmore whom he married on July 9, 1944. Two daughters and sons in law: Kim and Paul McCullough of E. Pembroke and Cindy and Sean Galt of W. Palm Beach, FL.  Three brothers and two sisters in law: Thomas and Joann Elmore, Richard Elmore and Paul and Roseann Elmore. Four sisters and two brothers in law: Sandra and Keith O'Brien, Ann and Kenneth Downs, Mary Jane Stafford  and Collen Harmon.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was the brother of the late: James, Robert and Genevieve Elmore.

There are no calling hours.  Friends and family may attend a graveside funeral service on Wednesday at 11AM at St. Joseph Cemetery (Section L).

LeRoy/Stafford - Mrs. Ruth E. Smith, 69, of Stafford, a school teacher for 15 years prior to her retirement in 1993, died Thursday, June 10, 2010at her home, in the town of Stafford.

Mrs. Smith was born March 19, 1941 in Dunkirk, a daughter of the late Oscar E. and Marion (Mansfield) Weiss.

She was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church (established in 1978), was a 1959 graduate of Hamburg High School and graduated in 1963 from Houghton College with a BA in English. She was the church pianist and served in Children's Ministries and was the church clerk. 

She taught at the Pembroke Central, Pavilion Baptist Christian and North Baptist Christian Schools.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence M. Smith whom she married February 12, 1966; four children, Daniel L. (Tasha) Smith of Byron, Steven M. (Denise) Smith of Lebanon, IN, Elizabeth (Robert) Corcimiglia of South Byron and Andrew M. (Stacey) Smith of Batavia; a brother, John Weiss of OH; 4 sisters, Bonnie Weiss of Buffalo, Carol Weiss of Nyack, Nancy (Sean) Meade of CA, Joanne (Davey) Janus of SC.  

She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 1 niece and 1 nephew.  

Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 E. Main Street, Batavia. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethal Baptist Church, 7484 W. Bergen Rd, Bergen, NY 14416. Burial will be in North Byron Cemetery.

 

Batavia - Mrs. Revina P. Rich, 80, of Batavia, peacefully passed on to be with the Lord on Friday, June 11, 2010at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

Mrs. Rich was born December 22, 1929 in Batavia, a daughter of the late George and Inez O'Dell Porter.

She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Batavia and former member of the Oakfield-Alabama Baptist Church. Mrs. Rich was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed attending church and social events with her husband and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel with her husband in their motor home, visiting 48 different states in approximately 10 years.

Revina is survived by her loving husband, Dean E. Rich, whom she married May 28, 1949; 7 children, Gregory (Marcy) Rich, Kevin (Kathy) Rich, Laurie (Mark) Castiglione, Shelley (Mark) Mikolajczyk,  Doreen (Ronald) Wickings, Paul (Debra) Rich and Beth Ann (David) Chase; a sister, Marlene (Donald) Bausolel; 17 grandchildren and step-grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and one the way.  

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 3515 Galloway Road, Batavia, NY 14020. Burial will be in West Bethany Cemetery. 

 

Batavia - Mrs. Sally J. Cabrera, 62, of Batavia, died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at her home in Batavia. Her family mourns the sudden loss.

Mrs. Cabrera was born August 21, 1947 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Anthony and Esther Keebler George.

She enjoyed spending with her family - especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved to travel.

She is survived by her children, Kris (Paul) Chiarello of Rotterdam, John Cabrera of Philmont, Toni (Scott) Douglas of Batavia and Buddy Cabrera of Rotterdam; her sister, Barbara Jordan of Corfu; her 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren that she loved dearly and 2 nieces.

Friends may call on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where services will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Attica. Memorials may be made to the family. Batavia - Mrs. Carolyn J. Fisher, 61, of Batavia, an assistant teacher at Alexander Central School through Genesee Valley BOCES, died Friday, June 11, 2010at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester.

Mrs. Fisher was born December 27, 1948 in Rochester, a daughter of the late Fernie and Josephine DeRose Gibble.

A member of Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph's Church, Mrs. Fisher sang in the church choir. An avid golfer, she played in the Monday Night Women's League at Batavia Country Club and the Wednesday Night Women's League at Bethany Hills. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years Jay Fisher; her daughter, Krista (Ralph) Schodel of Batavia; her son, Adam (Danielle) Fisher of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Sara and Hunter Schodel of Batavia and Aidan & Owen Fisher of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts; two brothers, Ronald Gibble of Batavia and Richard Gibble of Rochester; an aunt, Connie (Ralph) Scarson of Rochester; an uncle, Jack DeRose of Rochester; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is the sister of the late Justine O'Brien.

Alice F. Schattner, 94 of Batavia died June 6, 2010 at her home. 

Born  August 14, 1915 in Rochester, New York, daughter of the late Francis (Olive Foss) Schrader. 

Mrs. Schattner was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and being with her family. 

Preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Schattner, a son Jerry Schattner, her daughter Alice Jane “Sue” Anna and a sister Ruth Gray.

Survivors include 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. 

A Graveside Service will be held on June 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Riverside Cemetery, 2650 Lake Avenue, Rochester, New York.

Elizabeth M. Brach, 86, departed on June 9, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late John A. Brach; dearest mother of Dr. John (Darya), Jacob (Susan) and William (Nancy) Brach; loving grandmother of 7 grandchildren; sister of Mary Wolf, Margaret (Paul) Wild and Harold (Betty) Renaud.

She was born in Syracuse, NY, on April 28, 1924. She was a resident of Clarence Center, NY.

The family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 11, at Amherst Chapel, of Amigone Funeral Home, Inc. It is located at 5200 Sheridan Drive (corner of  Hopkins) in Amherst, NY.

That is also where funeral services will be held at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, to be celebrated from St. Mary Church, Swormville, at 12:30 p.m. Friends are invited. She will be laid to rest in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Batavia - Mr. Raymond C. Tiede, 71, of Batavia, died Wednesday, (June 9, 2010)at United Memorial Medical Center.

Mr. Tiede was born January 9, 1939 in Batavia, a son of the late Frank and Grace (Heide) Tiede.

Mr. Tiede worked at the former O&K Trojan in Batavia, was a member of Polish Falcons and also enjoyed hunting and golfing. A veteran, he served with the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. 

Survivors include his wife, Mary (Hulburt) Tiede of Batavia; a son, Craig (Maureen) Tiede of Corfu; a daughter, Tracy (Brandon) Hastings of Alexander; two brothers, Richard Tiede of Silver Lake and Roger Tiede of Connecticut; a sister, Dorothy (Bruce) Culling of Florida; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He is a brother of the late Frank Tiede Jr. and David Tiede.  

Calling hours are today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday also at the funeral home. Batavia - Mr. Robert L. Swansbrough, 80, of Batavia, died Monday, (June 7,2010) at Crossroads House.

Mr. Swansbrough was born September 6, 1929 in Ithaca, a son of the late Anthony and Elizabeth  (Grover) Swansbrough.

The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers and Crossroads House and also to John and Deb Henning for all of their love and care.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Renae Swansbrough of Batavia and a special friend Dee Burdick of LeRoy.

There are no prior calling hours.  Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Batavia Assembly of God, 24 North Spruce Street, Batavia.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Condolences may be made at www.bataviafuneralhomes.comArrangements were completed by the H.E.
