Patricia T. Gillam of Batavia died Monday December 6, 2010 at her home. She was born  November 4, 1937 in  Batavia, New York to the late Joseph  and Antoinette (Brzeczkowski)Oxencis.  Patricia was retired from Batavia Downs where she worked for 27 years. Prior to that she also worked for New York Telephone. She was a member of Resurrection Parish (St. Mary’s), a former CCD teacher and a past member of the Polish Falcons. She loved to garden, shop for antiques and was an avid painter. She was preceded in death by her daughter Ann Marie Gillam Twichell in 1978. 
 
She is survived by her husband William H. Gillam Jr., of Batavia;  sons William J. (Doris) Gillam of Michigan, James (Annette) Gillam of Batavia and Keith A. Gillam of East Bethany. Brothers Joseph (Mary) Oxencis of Illinois, Raymond (Polly) Oxencis of Batavia, sisters Alice (David) McCullough, Eleanor (Bill) Bishop and Joan (Brian) McCabe all of Batavia survive along with 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 
 
Friends may call on Wednesday December 8, 2010 from 4 to 7 PM at the Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company Inc. 329-333 W Main St. Batavia, NY. Prayers will be recited at 9:00 AM on Thursday at the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart), corner of Swan and Sumner Streets, Batavia, NY.

Batavia - Mrs. Juanita Peck Hyde, 71, of Batavia, a secretary at Jackson School in Batavia, until her retirement in 1999, died Thursday, December 2, 2010at her residence, in Batavia.

Mrs. Hyde was born May 12, 1939 in Batavia, the daughter of the late Tyler and Helen (Little) Peck.
 
She was a lifetime member of the Batavia First United Methodist Church. She formerly worked at John Kennedy School, Genesee County Health Department, Kozak and J.C. Penny.   She enjoyed reading and was described as a very loving person; friendly, engaging and loved children. She was an avid conversationalist.
 
She is survived by her husband, Ralph G. Hyde, whom she married February 14, 1959; 2 sons, Kevin (Sandra) Hyde of Beaver Creek, Ohio and Steven (JoAnn) Hyde of Batavia; a grandson, Robert Hyde of Batavia and a granddaughter, Carissa Hyde of Batavia. 

Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 E. Main St., Batavia. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 8221 Lewiston Rd., Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crossroads House, P.O. Oakfield - Mr. George A. Sanders, 89, of Oakfield, died Tuesday, (November 30, 2010)at the Buffalo V.A. Medical Center.
Mr. Sanders was born July 3, 1921 in Oramel, New York, a son of the late George and Ina (Clark) Sanders.
A veteran, he served with the United States Army and was the owner of the Sanders Sawmill in Oakfield. Mr. Sanders enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved his dog, Patty. He was a member of the NRA, American Legion in Alabama, Oakfield Historical Society and the Oakfield Fire Department. Mr. Sanders was also a member and past president of the Oakfield Rod and Gun Club and was a past zoning officer for the Town of Oakfield. 
Survivors include his companion of 20 years, Arlene Steele of Oakfield and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
His wife, Laura Sanders passed away in 1986.  Mr. Sanders is also predeceased by his brother and sisters.
 
Calling hours are Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. Services will be at 11:00 Monday at the Oakfield United Methodist Church, 2 South Main Street, Oakfield. Burial will be in Cary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Oakfield United Methodist Church, 2 South Main Street, Oakfield, N.Y. 14125 or Buffalo VA Medical Center, attn: Hospice Department, 3495 Bailey Avenue, Buffalo, N.Y. 14215.  Condolences may be made at www.burdettandsanford.com.

Byron - Mrs. Doris E. Fuller, 86, a retired employee of GTE Sylvania, died Monday, (November 29, 2010) at United Memorial Medical Center.

Mrs. Fuller was born April 13, 1924 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Paul and Emily Waldron Nicholson.

She was a member of Byron Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Botts-Fiorito American Legion Post in LeRoy.

Survivors include two sons, Leonard (Patricia) A. Fuller of Rochester and Leland (Suzanne) Fuller, Jr. of Delaware and a sister, Gary (Linda) Nicholson of Penfield. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was the wife of the late Leland Fuller, Sr. who died in 1977. Mrs. Fuller was the sister and sister-in-law of the late Paul (Ruth) Nicholson and Marion (Monroe) Ratliff. 

Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 E. Main St.. Services with Pastor James Renfrew officiating, will be at 10:00 am, Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Morganville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to be distributed to various charities. Lester M. Hill 75, of Batavia, NY died November 27, 2010 at his home. He was born July 26, 1935 in Blue Island Illinois, a son of the late Lester J. and Evangeline (Toczek) Hill. Mr. Hill was retired after 20 years from Eastman Kodak where he was a multi skilled engineer. He was a Marine Corps. Veteran of the Korean Conflict where he was a staff sergeant. He was a former member of Glenn S. Loomis Post #332 American Legion. Lester enjoyed building, woodworking and cabinet making. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Ann DiPiazza Hill in 1973.
 
He is survived by his wife Valerie (Brunacini) Hill of Batavia, sons Les J. (Colleen) Hill of Batavia, Kris E. (Becky) Hill of North Carolina, daughters Lori A. (Eric) Currier of Batavia and Katie (Joel) Blanchet of New York City. One brother Everett F. (Diane) Hill of Nevada and a sister Carol Olson of Minnesota survive along with 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

  Jennie Trinchera, 98 of Pennsylvania, formerly of Batavia died November 24, 2010 at her daughter’s home in Pottstown, PA. She was born July 18, 1912 in Batavia, NY a daughter of the late Anthony and Florence (Gervase) Carlino. Mrs. Trinchera was retired from the former St. Jerome Hospital; she also formerly worked for Super Duper and Marchese’s Supermarket. She was a member of Ascension Parish (St. Anthony’s), former member of the Altar & Rosary Society, and the St. Nicholas Social Club. Jennie was an avid bowler and reader, she enjoyed sewing and knitting. She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony “Nino” Trinchera in 2002, a son Philip Trinchera and her sisters Angeline Marchese, Carrie Marchese, Alice Mondo and Josephine Fiore. 
 
She is survived by her daughter Carmen (Ronald) Kryman of Pottstown, PA, a sister Rose Serrano of MA; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Oakfield - Miss Irene (Jaszko) Jatczynski, 67, of Oakfield, died Saturday, November 27, 2010at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.

Miss Jatczynski was born April 25, 1943 in Mayfield, Ohio, a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Marie C.  (Sterpka) Jatczynski.
Survivors include 3 brothers, Sam (Jeanette) Jatczynski of Colorado, Joseph (Nancy) Jaszko of Batavia and John (Barb) Jaszko of Basom; 3 sisters, Rosemary Mengs of Florida, Yvonne (James) Welker of Attica and Susan (Gerald) Williams of Middleport; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. 
She was the sister of the late Frank Jatzynski and Margaret Jatzynski.

Age 93, formerly of Corfu died peacefully Thursday morning November 25, 2010 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home. She was born July 28, 1917 in Rochester, NY, the seventh of 12 children of the late Ammon & Gertrude (Armstrong Stemn) Mason. She was also preceded in death by her husband Simeon Mattice; brothers Frank, George, Homer, Wilbur and Ralph Mason; sisters Ruth Johnson, Ellen Voorhees, Doris Smith, Florence Mills & Thelma Weinert. Mrs. Mattice was a wife, mother and homemaker for many years before she began working for Production Credit until the age of 85. She was a longtime and very active member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in East Pembroke. Also a GCASA volunteer for over 20 years, she enjoyed crafts, sewing and was an avid reader. Jean will be remembered as an amazing mother, grandmother & great-grandmother.

She is survived by one brother Alvin Mason of San Jose, CA; also surviving is her loving children Janice (Alan) Scoins of Sanford, NC, Dr. Nancy Mattice (Sharon David) of Florence, OR, Thomas (Susan) Mattice of Shangia, China, Thelma Mattice of Honeoye, Lu Anne (Edwin) Mileham of Corfu & Charles (Lori) Mattice of Johnsonburg; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews & cousins.

The family will be present from 4-8 PM Wednesday Dec. 1, 2010 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC at 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020. Please join the family for an 11:00 AM Funeral Service Thursday Dec. 2, 2010 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church Rt. 5 East Pembroke. Interment will be in East Bethany Rural Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her memory to the Cornerstone Baptist Church of East Pembroke.

Oakfield - Mr. Frank R. Gallaway, 82, of Oakfield, a Plant Manager for Comstock Foods in Oakfield prior to his retirement, died Thursday, November 25, 2010at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia after being stricken at his home.

Mr. Gallaway was born January 7, 1928 in Dunkirk, a son of the late Frank A. and Irene (Olrogge) Gallaway.
 
He was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish (St. Cecelia’s Church) since 1972, where he served as grounds keeper and cemetery caretaker. He was the founder and present leader of the Merrymen Crew. A graduate of North Collens High School, he was a former member of the North Collins Fire Department, N. Collins School Board, and Rotary Club. After moving to Oakfield, he joined the Lions Club where he was a member for over 35 years, Oakfield Fire Department, active in Oakfield Little League, Town of Oakfield Board, Genesee County Planning Board, and served as liaison on projects between the Town and Village of Oakfield. He was the project manager for remodeling of the Oakfield Presbyterian Church and St. Padre Pio Parish, St. Cecelia's Worship site, the Catholic church in Darien and was instrumental in the reconstruction of the North Collins School House #8.
 
He had a personal connection with Santa Clause.
 
He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Zulawski) Gallaway, whom he married August 4, 1951; 2 daughters, Judy (Tom) Leaton of Liverpool and Debbie (Jerry) Armbruster of Oakfield; a son, Patrick (Kathy) Gallaway of Pembroke; 12 grandchildren, Brian (Laura) Leaton, Ellen (Jeffrey) Hoppe and Brenda (Tom) Bray, all of Liverpool, Natalie (James) Emerson and Chad (Sonja) Armbrewster, both of Oakfield, Jeannine Armbrewster of Batavia, Sara (Clifton) Johnson of TX, Jason Gallaway, James Morford, Adam Gallaway, Megan Gallaway and Collin Gallaway, all of Pembroke; and granddog, Oscar; 10 great-grandchildren, Jack, Graham, Benjamin, Aubrey, Kali, Gaige, Gavin, Owen, Emma and Alex; 2 brothers, Richard (Betty) Gallaway of VA and Dean (Marge) Gallaway of Langford; 3 sisters, Barbara Boyle of FL, Donna Frank of West Valley and Sandy (Bob) Kaczmarek of Brant; 2 brothers-in-law, 1 sister-in-law, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. 
 
was the brother of the late Elizabeth Saabye.

Medina - Mr. Wayne Smith, 72, of Medina and formerly of Basom, died Saturday, (November 20, 2010)at Orchard Manor, in Medina.
Mr. Smith was born July 23, 1938 in Medina, son of the late Norman and Viola (Quackenbush) Smith.
He is survived by several cousins.
There are no prior calling hours and services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Corfu. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
