Barbara Schum Mazur

Barbara Schum Mazur 84, of Batavia passed away Monday December 6, 2021 at Buffalo General Hospital. She was born September 18, 1937 in Brockport, NY; a daughter of the late Maynard J. Schum Sr. and Evelyn (Meyers) Schum. In addition to her parents, Barbara is predeceased by a brother Maynard J. Schum Jr., sister Nancy Schum Nowry, and grandson Glen William Kruger.

A graduate of Attica High School, Barbara was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Batavia, NY. She worked as a telephone operator for The New York Telephone Company where she met her adoring husband. She retired from Tops Friendly Markets in 1995. Barbara will always and forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was always selfless and forever thinking of others, especially her family, whom she loved so much and always put their needs above hers. Barb loved reading, baking, watching sports, and crossword puzzles. She truly lived for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 64 years, Richard F. Mazur of Batavia, loving children, Susan (Jerry) Mazur Fortunato of Endicott, NY, Janet (Dave) Lambert of Leroy, Randall (Ann) Mazur of Indian Land, SC, Nancy (Nicholas) Ficarella of Churchville, NY, Diane (Larry) Hale of Batavia, Bradley (Lisa) Mazur of Batavia, and Andrew (Deanna) Mazur of Murfresboro, TN. She is also survived by her adoring eighteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Barbara is survived by a sister in law Rose (Gerald) Sheelar of Malone NY, brother in law Leonard Nowry of Jacksonville FL, and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior visiting hours, Family and friends are invited to share in her Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM on Friday, December 10, 2021. Resurrection Parish (St. Mary’s Church) 18 Ellicott St. Batavia, NY 14020.
