Batavia - James J. Youll, 85, of Batavia, passed away Tuesday, (September 16, 2014) at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Youll was born July 3, 1929 in Buffalo, a son of the late James B. and Catherine (Barry) Youll.

Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Batavia.  He served his country honorably with the Army, where he was a paratrooper. 

Jim was a photographer extraordinaire and after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree from RIT, he worked for Murray Lawing Studio in Batavia until 1965 when he began his career with Kodak.  He retired in 1986 as the head of the color lab.

He loved fly fishing, model trains and ships, and dogs; especially Maggie and Gracie.  He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.

After retirement, he and Shirley bought an RV and traveled the country making a stop in almost every state. 

He is the husband of Shirley (Gubb) Youll, of Batavia.  The two were married May 5, 1956 in Elba.

Surviving along with Shirley is his daughter, Susan (Rev. Bill) Hockey of Batavia; and sisters-in-law, Yvonne Youll of Batavia, and Maxine Gubb of Elba.  Jim is also survived by 8 nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and great nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Youll and a brother-in-law, Arthur Gubb.

Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co, Inc., 403 East Main St., Batavia.  Jim’s Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, (September 23, 2014) at the First United Methodist Church, 8221 Lewiston Road, Batavia.  Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church of Batavia.

MAXINE L. KINGDOLLAR - Age 73, of Batavia, died peacefully Tuesday morning September 16, 2014 at Crossroads House. She was born July 19, 1941 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Charles & Harriett (Beachel) Orcutt.

   Maxine was a caregiver/houseparent for many years at the New York State School for the Blind. She had a great work ethic, enjoyed her pets, the outdoors and enjoyed life to the fullest. She will be remembered for her dedication to her children and grandchildren, always providing them with what was needed and then making sure they had fun too.

   Surviving are her loving sons, Harold (Anna Marie) Kingdollar of Lyndonville, Ricky James Kingdollar of Groton, NY and Randy Charles Kingdollar of Batavia; sister, Sandra Pask and her family of Medina; 7 grandchildren, Ricky, Alexis, Ryan, Emily, Nicholas, Ian, Elijah along with several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

   Family and close friends may visit from 5-7 p.m. on Friday September 19, 2014 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020. Richard J. Doktor, 88 of Corfu, died Tuesday (September 16, 2014). 

He was born in Cheektowaga, NY on June 19, 1926, a son of the late Martin and Celia Symanski Doktor. 

He was the husband of the late Ramona Schmigel Doktor.

Mr. Doktor was a US Navy Veteran during W.W. II and served aboard the USS Simpson and the USS Broome as a Boatswains Mate having received the American Theatre Medal and Victory Medal upon his Honorable Discharge.   He was a welder by trade and started Doktor’s Welding in Corfu before continuing his career at Harrison Radiator in Lockport. He volunteered extensively at the US Naval Park in Buffalo repairing ships.  He was active in local politics in his younger years and served with the Town of Pembroke Zoning Board of Appeals.  He was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church in Corfu, member and Past Commander of the VFW Post 9000 in Corfu, member of the American Legion Post 332 in Batavia and the oldest member of the Joint Veterans Honor Guard of Genesee County.

Surviving are his children: Douglas (Sonia) Doktor of Corfu, Cindy (Richard) Chilson of Clarendon, NY, Dinene Hancock of So. Carolina and Dawn Murray of California.  Daughter in law, Mary (late Kevin Mark) Doktor of Corfu.  Grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.  Brother of Alice (Vince) Berardi of Lockport and Bernard (Catherine) Doktor of Corfu.  Brother in law of Jean Doktor, and Marion Doktor.  Brother of the late: Florence Wyder, Alfred Doktor, Henry Doktor, William Doktor, Rita Gostomski and Norman Doktor.

Friends of the family may express their thoughts, condolences and fond memories with the family at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC., 2 BOGUE AVE., BATAVIA on Thursday from 6 – 8 PM and Friday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM .  A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, 18 W. Main St., Corfu, with Rev. James Fugle as Celebrant.  Full military honors will follow.  Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Corfu.

GERRY DOUGLAS STEVENSON - Age 75, of Akron formerly of Batavia, died peacefully Friday morning September 5, 2014 at Rochester General Hospital. He was born August 5, 1939 in Buffalo, a son of the late C.L. & Vivia (Gamble) Stevenson.

   Gerry moved from North Carolina in 1991 to Batavia where he has lived until last year when he moved to Leisure Timer's in Akron. He was a kind and giving soul who lived a simple life, never asking for much in return, always with a smile and good word to those he met. Friends and neighbors would remember Gerry from seeing him sit out under his favorite tree and waving to all who passed by. A model train enthusiast he belonged to the local train club for many years, had a love for all animals and enjoyed the square dance clubs he was a member of.

   Surviving is a loving niece, Diana Minard of FL; great nephews, Mitchell and David; great nieces, Michelle and Melody along with many great nieces, great nephews in Florida and his fur baby "Billy" who has been lovingly adopted by a friend.

   There is no prior visitation and funeral services will be held privately by the family in Florida. Memorials in his memory are suggested to a charity of the Batavia Animal Shelter/Volunteers for Animals PO Box 1621 Batavia, New York 14021.
