Bergen – Jean I. Claus, 78, of Bergen, the church secretary of the First Presbyterian Church of Bergen, passed away Monday, (April 22, 2013) at Rochester General Hospital.

Mrs. Claus was born April 18, 1935 in Rochester, a daughter of the late Willis J. and Helen (Brockmyer) MacDonald.

Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bergen.  Her favorite time of year was spring, and she greatly enjoyed gardening and flowers.  She deeply loved her husband, children, and grandchildren.  Jean will be remembered by all who knew her as a kind compassionate person. 

She is the wife of Roland D. “Ron” Claus whom she married June 16, 1956.

Along with her husband, Jean is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Patricia) Claus of Victor, Eric (Laurie) Claus of Bergen, and Timothy (Dawn) Claus of Batavia; grandchildren, Jeannie (Simon) Sheehan of VA and Michelle (Matt) Drahms of Clyde; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Audrey Sheehan of VA, Tanner and Adrianna Drahms of Clyde; a brother, Bruce (Elaine) MacDonald of Irondequoit; a sister, Mary (David) MacConnell of FL.  A sister-in-law, Muriel MacDonald of Sodus and Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.

Jean is preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Christopher and Victoria Claus as well as a brother, Richard MacDonald.  

There will be no prior visitation.  Jean’s Memorial Service will be held Sunday (May 5, 2013) at 2:00 p.m. (Please note change in service date). at the First Presbyterian Church of Bergen, 38 South Lake Street, Bergen.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Bergen, P.O. Hinda was born in Cleveland, Ohio a daughter of the late George and Rae LeGrand Doerr. Mrs. Naschke received her Bachelors degree at Nazareth College and Master Degree at Boston College. She was a social worker for the Rochester Psychiatric Center and retired from Monroe County as a probation officer for 23 years. She volunteered for the advocacy for the mentally impaired for many years after her retirement, she was active and supported the Alumni for Nazareth and Boston College, and was a member of the former Perry Moose Lodge.

She is survived by her husband George H. Naschke whom she married on April 24, 1953, a daughter; Barbara A. (George) Hecht of Muldraugh, KY, 5 sons; Kurt (Delia) Naschke of Virginia Beach, VA., George G. (Lori) Naschke of Newark, John (Kit) Naschke of Perry, Quintin (Brenda) Naschke of San Diego, Ca, Martin (Angela) Naschke of Castile, 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends may call on Sunday April 28th from 12-3pm at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 N. Main St. Perry, NY 14530. Funeral services will be held on Monday April 29th at 1:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will take place in LaGrange Cemetery, Perry.

Stella was born in Perry, New York on April 17, 1919 a daughter of the late Michael and Ida Koziol Marzycki. Mrs. Buziak worked for the former Perry Knitting Mill and retired from the former Champion Products in Perry. She was a member of St. Isidore’s Catholic Parish (St. Stanislaus Kostka / St. Joseph’s Church) in Perry. She is preceded in death by her husband Walter who died in 1986.

She is survived by 3 nephews: Edward Marzycki of Perry, John Buziak of California and James Buziak of Florida, 2 great nieces: Heather (Ryan) Forrester and Heidi Marzycki.

Family and friends may call from 6-8 pm on Thursday April 25, 2013 at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 N. Main St. in Perry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday April 26 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Isidore’s Catholic Parish-St. Joseph’s / St. Stanislaus Kostka Church 8 Park St. Perry, NY 14530. Dutch (Heenan) Howard, 76, of Batavia, passed away Saturday (April 20, 2013) at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Howard was born July 2, 1936 in Batavia, son of the late Heenan and Frieda Williams Howard.

He served in the Army Reserves and was a tractor-trailer owner/operator for 40 years.  Dutch was an Operating Engineer with a Local Union in Rochester.  He was also employed by Houseknecht Motors, L & L Transmission and All County Towing & Recovery. He was a proud member of the Wyoming Co. SPCA.
Dutch loved his family, friends, cats and dog Maggie.  He loved working, helping friends, Nascar, feeding his birds, wild ducks and geese that visited the creek behind his home.

He will be terribly missed by his beloved wife of 52 years, Donna (Marshall) Howard. Daughter, Wendy (Ken Thomas) Howard of Batavia. Son, Rodney Howard of Akron. Grandson, Jack Dudkiewicz of North Carolina. Brother, Donald Howard of Rochester. Sister, Catherine (Charles) Snell of Leroy. Brother-in-law, Leonard Shuknecht of Elba. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends who will be forever grateful he was part of their lives.

He is predeceased by brothers, Harold, Herbert and Richard Howard.  Sisters, Dorothy Wolff, Hazel Howard and Jean Shuknecht.

There is no prior visitation. A celebration of Dutch's life will be held at his home, Roaring Creek Lodge, 2761 West Main Rd., Batavia, on Saturday (April 27, 2013) from noon until 4 p.m. A luncheon will be served. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Wyoming Co. SPCA, 808 Creek Rd., Attica, NY 14011.

Mary M. Barone, 91 of Batavia, passed away on April 23, 2013 at the Genesee County Nursing Home. She was born December 1, 1921 in Oakfield to the late Anthony (Florence Puccio) Ficarella. Mrs. Barone was a housewife who enjoyed baking and cooking. Her specialty was cream puffs and Italian cookies; over the years, many people enjoyed her talented baking. She also enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Louis R. Barone, Jr.; daughter Shirley Barone Yasses; brothers Alphonso (Mary) Ficarella, Frank (Sarah) Ficarella, Charles (Josephine) Ficarella; sisters Rose (Lewis) Schiavi, Florence (Robert) DeFreze; brother-in-law Frederick Hamilton; son-in-law Anthony J. Battaglia, Jr. 

Survivors include her son Louis (Marilyn) Barone of Niskayuna, NY; daughter Diane Sochalec of Batavia; brother Sam (Nancy) Ficarella; sister Pauline Hamilton; 4 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday April 24, 2013 from 7 to 8 PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. Prayers will be recited 9:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday April 25, 2013 at Resurrection Parish-St. Joseph’s Church 303 East Main St. Batavia, New York 14020. Entombment will be in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Batavia.

LeRoy ~ Russell A. Harvie, age 60, of Myrtle Street, passed away at home Sunday afternoon (April 21, 2013).

     He was born March 6, 1953 in Batavia, a son of the late Ross Harvie and Ruth Brady Harvie.

     Russ will be remembered for his quick, witty sense of humor and his kind heart.  He was a dear friend to many and maintained many extended friendships.

     He is survived by his dear mother, Ruth Harvie of LeRoy, daughter, Sophie (Dolan Matla) Carmichael of New Orleans and son, Ian Harvie of CA, sisters; Judy (Terry) Hair of TN, Ellen (Cliff) Faull of NC, Susan (Jeffery) Carmichael of CA and Patricia (Brian) Williams of LeRoy, brother, Stephen Harvie of RI, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bruce (Cindy) Haynes of LeRoy, a special nephew, Clif Williams, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his dad, he was also predeceased by his wife, Linda “Mona” Haynes Harvie.

Cecelia V. Cino, 88, of Rochester and formerly of Batavia, died peacefully on Thursday (April 18, 2013) at Unity Hospital in Rochester.

She was born in Lancaster, NY on May 26, 1924, a daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine Zwolinski Dzierzanowski.

She was a homemaker for most of her life and enjoyed reading.  She was also a member of the Albion American Legion Post Auxillary.

Cecelia was the wife of the late Samuel J. Cino who died in 1996.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter in-law, Philip Shultz of Ogden and Vincent (Glenda) Cino of East Bethany.  Brother in-law, Edward Dyrbala of Rochester.  Sister in-law, Julia Dzierzanowski of Batavia.  Also survived by nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Virginia Dyrbala and Ben Dzierzanowski.

Friends are cordially invited to share condolences, thoughts and fond memories with the family on Thursday morning from 9:30am – 11:30am at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 Bogue Ave., Batavia, where prayers will be recited at 11:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at Resurrection Parish (St. Mary’s Church).

Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Elba - Josephine Boldt, 76, of Elba, passed away Monday, (April 22, 2013) at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester, following a brief illness.

Mrs. Boldt was born August 19, 1936 in Geneva, a daughter of the late Antonio and Carmella (Picone) DiAntonio.

Josephine was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish - Our Lady of Fatima Worship Site as well as the Elba Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and was a good Christian.  She loved cooking; especially canning, and took great pleasure in gardening and feeding the birds.

She is the wife of Eugene Boldt, of Elba, whom she married July 19, 2003.

Surviving along with her husband are her children, Michael (Deborah) Gualtieri of LeRoy, Donna (John) Crowley of Albany, and John Gualtieri of Farmington; step-children, Dennis (Linda) Boldt of Medina, Douglas Boldt of Batavia, Diane (Jim) Snyder of Elba, and Gary (Diane) Boldt of Elba; a sister, Sarah (Eugene) Evangelista of Geneva.  16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Boldt is preceded in death by her first husband, Donato Gualtieri, who passed away in 1999 and her siblings, Angelo (late Clara) DiAntonio and Mary (late Salvatore) Nardozzi.   

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia.  Josephine’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday (April 25, 2013) at St. Padre Pio Parish - Our Lady Of Fatima Worship Site, 65 South Main St., Elba.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Palliative Care Program - Office of Advancement at Strong Memorial Hospital, PO Box 278996, 300 E. Oakfield  - Mrs. Irene R. Michalak, 94, a retired food service employee at the Oakfield - Alabama School and St. Jerome Hospital, died April 20, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Michalak was born September 21, 1918 in Batavia, the daughter of the late Gregory and Mary  (Wesolowski) Dymczak.

A lifetime member of St. Padre Pio Parish she prayed the Rosary daily and had a special affinity for the Blessed Virgin Mary.  She also belonged to the St. Jerome Guild. 

 She was the wife of the late Anthony Michalak, who died in 1968, mother of Dorothy Bishop who died in 2008 and Robert Michalak who died in 2010.

Survivors include two sons; Anthony (Peggy) Michalak of Basom and John (Patti) Michalak of Batavia; a     daughter-in-law, Susan Michalak of Batavia and a son-in-law, John Bishop of Texas.  Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great great granchildren.

Mrs. Michalak enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Ave., Oakfield.  Her Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, at St. Padre Pio Parish, St. Cecilia's Church, 56 Maple Ave., Oakfield.  Memorials may be made to the LeRoy Village Green Activities Fund, 10 Munson St., LeRoy, NY 14482 or St. Padre Pio Parish, 56 Maple Ave., Oakfield. Robert H. Carlson, 91 of Williamsville died Saturday April 20, 2013 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. He was born September 1, 1921 to the late Henry (Elsa Johnson) Carlson. Mr. Carlson was a WWII Navy Seabees Veteran. He is preceded in death by his wife Carol L. (Vallier) Carlson; son-in-law Fredrick Fletcher; brother Eric “Gordy” Carlson; sisters Betty Nuhn, Doris Schmidt, Janice VanSteenburg, Jean Wiegel.

He is survived by his beloved daughters Sharon Fletcher, Linda Wheeler, Patricia, Donna Carlson, Shirley (Richard) Yeates, Nancy Carlson, Dianne (Kevin) Colling, Holley (Paul) Laudico; 18 grandchildren, 17 great and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be private. Interment will take place at Acacia Park Cemetery in Tonawanda.
