  She was born September 25, 1961 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late James and Pearl Czerniewski Kingsley.

     Deb will be remembered for her love of family, friends and animals of all kinds. She was a 24 plus year devoted employee of TOPS Market in Warsaw.  She enjoyed reading books, cross stitching, needlepoint, along with watching and feeding “her” birds.

     She will be sadly missed by her two loving and devoted best friends, her husband of almost 40 years, Daniel Heale and her daughter, Nicole Heale.  She is also survived by her brother, Keith (Judy) Pringle; mother-in-law, Dorothy Young; step-mother-in-law, Gail Heale; sisters-in-law, Deb Odom and Donna Barnes, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

     In addition to her parents, Deb was predeceased by her brothers, Ernest Hepp and Gordon “Corky” Pringle and her special canine companion, Cobain.

     Family and friends may call on Wednesday, May 1 from 5 ~ 7 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake St. Rd., LeRoy, where her funeral service will be held following visitation at 7:00 PM.  Interment in Glenwood Cemetery, Perry will be private.

Attica - JoAnn J. Winkelman, 87 of Attica passed away on Wednesday,(April 24, 2024) at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville.

Mrs. Winkelman was born September 20, 1936 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Gerstner) Archangel.

JoAnn was a bus driver with Becker Bus Service for many years as well as a server at The Prospector. She greatly enjoyed trying her luck with the slots at Batavia Downs. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Surviving are her husband, Melvin Winkelman of Corfu; daughter, Terry (Michael) Schmieder of Attica; son, Gerald Winkelman of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; grandsons, Chad Winkelman of Attica, Taylor (Abby) Winkelman of Fayetteville, N. Carolina, and Devon Winkelman of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Archangel; and sister, Judy Archangel.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. She will be laid to rest beside her parents in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cheektowaga. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gateway Home, 91 Main Street, Attica, New York 14011.

Douglas Lee Owens, Jr. ,60, of Pavilion, NY passed away on December 6th, 2023 at Strong Memorial Palliative Care/Hospice Unit in Rochester, NY after a battle with cancer. 

Doug was born on March 22, 1963 to Douglas and the late Mary (Burdick) Owens.Doug grew up in Centerville, NY and graduated from Fillmore Central School. He lived and worked in Florida for over 30 years in construction and pouring concrete, including Sunrise Aluminum. Doug was an avid outdoorsman- hunting, fishing, and living off the land. He loved being out on a boat and loved the warmth of Florida. Doug loved cooking food especially for his family and friends.  He also enjoyed canning and making maple syrup. Doug lived the past several years back in New York.  Doug was a hardworking, loyal friend, always willing to help out where he could. 

Doug is survived by his father Douglas (Florence Young) of  Warsaw; his son, Josh Evangelista (Jamie Sotak) of Geneseo, NY; his daughters Ashlie Owens (Brandon Ewing) and Tasha Owens both of Englewood, Fla; grandchildren Kamryn, Kendall, and Korri Evangelista; Lily, Corbin, and Ellamae Ewing. Ellamae was just born on her grandpa’s birthday.  Siblings Rhonda (Kevin Clary) of Pavilion NY, James of Pavilion NY, Timothy (Lee Ann Everett) of Centerville NY, and Darla(Barry Harlan) of Loretto, TN; along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. Predeceased by his mother, Mary Owens; his nephew, John Clary; grandparents, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Doug donated his body to research at the University of Rochester Medical School Anatomical Gift Program. The family would like to thank everyone who cared for Doug at Strong, Wilmot Cancer Center, and the Strong Memorial Palliative Care/Hospice Unit. Family and friends will gather at a later date at the convenience of the family.

  Al was born in Batavia, NY and graduated from Notre Dame High school in 1965. He served in the National Guard for over 20 years and worked as a Water Plant Operator for the City of Batavia for over 30 years. Al loved being active, he loved playing pickleball, working around his hobby farm, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Most of all, Al enjoyed any time he could spend with his friends and family.

     Al is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne; children, Nicole Palmer, Frank (Krista) Palmer, Laura (Dave) Williams, Aaron Pahuta and Amanda Palmer; grandchildren, Rian, Dylan, Sadie, Sophie, Isaac and Addison. He is also survived by his sisters, Josette Dobiesz and Linda Palmer; niece, Lindsay (TJ) Rinaldo and nephew, Craig (Desiree) Dobiesz.

Charles D. Sackett, 63, of Tennessee, passed away on April 23, 2024. He was born on April 7, 1961 to the late John and Jean (Lovejoy) Sacket. In addition to his parents, Charles is predeceased by his wife; Amy Sackett; and son Chandler Sackett.

Charlie is survived by his two sons, a daughter, two step sons and two step daughters.

Charlie was born and raised on the Sackett Farm and hard work was in Charlie's blood. He enjoyed helping others, which led to him having several jobs for the local people of Byron. After high school Charlie attended Cornell University where he graduated with a degree in agriculture and agribusiness. After getting his degree he went to the police academy and became a New York State Trooper at the age of 27. He retired after 28 years of service.

During his life as a trooper he met his wife Amy Hennard and married her in the summer of 2001. They had two children together Chandler and Caitlin. After his retirement Charlie spent his time cutting lumber and enjoyed helping his good friend Rick whenever he was needed. He had 11 grandchildren who he loved reading to and watching movies with. Charlie was loved by many and his love for helping and serving others showed throughout his entire life. He will always be remembered for his warm smile, his hearty laugh, his willingness to help, and his love for his friends and family.

There will be no prior calling hours. A 1:00PM Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday April 30, 2024 at Byron Cemetery on Route 262 in Byron, NY where he will be laid to rest.

Bergen - Barbara Howard, 85, of Bergen, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center in Rochester, New York.

Barb was born February 3, 1939 in Albion, New York, the daughter of the late James and Irene (Wahl) McGee.

Barbara loved to spend time with her family and friends.  Her door was always open for a long visit.  She also loved to crochet.  She loved to make newborn sets for the children of family and friends.  In her spare time, she was an avid Bingo enthusiast and she loved to shop at the Made in America store.

Barb married the love of her life, Richard Howard, on August 22, 1959. Together they raised 4 wonderful children and enjoyed many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at the Genesee County Nursing Home until her retirement.

Surviving is her husband, Richard Howard of Bergen, New York; children, Deborah (Donald) Fogg of Bergen, New York, Richard (Sarah) Howard Jr. of Hopkinton, Iowa, Cynthia (Dean) Leffel of Batavia, New York; and 9 grandchildren, D.R. Fogg, Devin Fogg, Amanda Chadsey, Joshua Howard,  Daniel Neal, Matthew Neal, Abigail Regan, Racheal Howard, and Benjamin Howard; 11 great grandchildren, her beloved hairdresser and surrogate daughter, Maria (Rob) Rowland, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In death Barb is reunited with her son, James Howard, parents, James and Irene McGee, and brothers, James and Anthony “Pat” McGee.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.E. Turner & Co., Inc. Funeral Home in Bergen, The funeral Mass for Barb will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 18th, 2024 at St. Brigid's Church, 18 Gibson St, Bergen, NY 14416. The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 18th, 2024 from 12:00pm to 2:00 pm at the Rose Garden, 21 Buffalo Rd, Bergen, NY 14416. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Holley, New York.

Byron - Betty  J.  Stedge, 100  of Byron  passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024 at LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

She was born Sunday, December 23rd, 1923 in Waverly, a daughter of the late Howard William Smith, Sr. and Christine Marie Mace Smith.

She was a member of Bergen United Methodist Church where she attended their women's group regularly and was very active in 4-H with her late husband William. Betty enjoyed reading, and crocheting in her free time. She loved her family immensely and would go to watch her grandkids and great-grandkids sporting events every chance she could.

Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband William J. Stedge.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Wayne) Pocock of Bergen and Patricia (Frederick) Swift of Queensbury; grandchildren, Daniel Swift, Rick (Risa) Swift, Michael (Shelley) Swift. Norma F. Greiner, 82 of Batavia, passed away peacefully Sunday (April 21, 2024) at LeRoy Village Green Nursing Facility.

She was born January 9, 1942 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Norman and Enid Kendall Case.

Norma was employed by Eastman Kodak prior to her retirement. Norma had a fun-loving, infectious personality and loved making everyone laugh. She enjoyed scrapping metal with her son and loved watching game shows, especially Family Feud. She was an avid collector of clowns and Coca-Cola memorabilia. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and could always be found outside in the summer. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were everything to her and she enjoyed spending time with her family most of all.  

She is predeceased by her son, James Wilcox; brothers, Ronald Case and Fred Case and sister, Judy Hartman.

Survivors include her son, John Wilcox Jr. of Batavia, Brothers, Dean Case of Batavia, Robert (Sandy) Case of W. Virginia and Scott (Mary) Case of Batavia. Grandchildren, Megan Wilcox, Jennifer Wilcox, Jessica Wilcox, Stevie Wilcox and Sara Curtis.  Great-grandchildren, Olivia Appleford, Nora Gangi, Lilly Curtis and Brodie Curtis. Granddog, Odie. Nancy Gail Rieks of Greeneville, TN / Pavilion, NY / Orange Park, FL passed away on Saturday April 13, 2024. She entered eternal paradise peacefully to be reunited with the love of her life with her family by her side.

Nancy was born February 16, 1943, to the late Daniel & Jane Smith and graduated from Alexander Central School in 1961.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Survived by Daniel and Lisa Rieks of Greeneville, TN; Roseann and Douglas Harris of Greeneville, TN; and Kelly and Daniel Cordell of Stafford, NY. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; two sisters, Judy and Nick Cecci of Corning NY; Patti and Robert Nephew of Wyoming NY; three sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her Florida family.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Charles L. Rieks; brothers Jim and John Smith; and sister Dianna Wheatley; brother-in-law Ed and Gail Rieks; and sister-in-law Shirley Cotton.

Nancy was active in the Pavilion Ladies Auxiliary, going to many calls in support of the Fire Department and performing banquets at the Fire Hall; an avid reader and bowler; and, in their younger years, her and Charlie were square dancers. She also made many friends as a bartender at the Cloverleaf Tavern in Pavilion, NY.

Her infectious smile and laugh would light up a room. She had a gracious heart and would give you the world if you needed it. She was a dear friend to many.

She leaves behind a legacy of love & kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her. A celebration of life will be held on June 15, 2024 at 11am, at the East Bethany, NY Cemetery.
