RONALD N. SULLIVAN

RONALD N. SULLIVAN - 56, of Batavia, accomplished musician and leader of the popular Western New York & Southern Tier Band "The Reflections" died Sunday afternoon October 12,  2014 at United Memorial Medical Center.

   Ronald was born December 21, 1957 in Springville, NY to Carol Viola (Christoff) of Springville and the late Robert D. Sullivan.

   Mr. Sullivan received his degree in music education from University of Buffalo and worked for 20 years at the Orleans Correctional Facility as an ABE Teacher. Ronald outside of his teaching career had a great love for music and the family band which dates back to his late father, he was an exceptional singer and there was not an instrument he couldn't play. "The Reflections" an eight piece band that included Ronald's dad and his triplet brothers that boasted playing hundreds of local and regional gatherings, including weddings, clubs and all kinds of parties. A true family man who had a great zest for life, he enjoyed his motorcycle, golfing, hunting, the outdoors and quiet car rides/trips with his dear wife, Paula

   Surviving along with his mother is his beloved wife of 33 years, Paula (Jesment) Sullivan of Batavia; loving daughters, Christine of Batavia and Maria of Philadelphia, PA; siblings; Betty Cherry, David (Rhonda) Sullivan, Duane (Laureen) Sullivan, Dennis (Cynthia) Sullivan and Mary Ballachino all of Springville, NY along with nieces, nephews and friends.

   Family and friends may visit from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday October 15, 2014 at the Michael S. Henry I. Janes

Pavilion ~ Henry I. Janes, age 78, of W. Park Street, passed away into the arms of his Lord & Savior on Thursday (Oct. 9, 2014)  at 3:50 A.M. at the Batavia Health Care Center.

    

Henry was born May 21, 1936 in Kalamazoo, MI to the late Raymond and Mary Kendall Rice Janes, formerly of Attica and Alexander.

     In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, LeRoy in 1991 and a sister, Patricia Inderrieden in 2008.

     He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Hirsch Janes, who he married on June 28, 1958; his sons, Douglas (Diane) Janes of LeRoy and Bruce (Wendi) Janes of Metlaketla, AK; his daughter, Karen (Tom) Propst of Pavilion; his 11 grandchildren, Charles (Corey) Janes, Jessie (Josh), Raeme, Justin, Madisyn, Jourdyn and Zakary Janes, Ricky (Kelly) Cooper, Amy Cooper, Abby (Dave) Wilson and Kelly Hammond; his 9 great-grandchildren, Zane and Nathanial Janes, Katie and Noah Hammond, Katalyn, Thomas and Scott Cooper and Brooklyn and Hannah Wilson; his brother, Myron (Janet) Janes of Idaho; his sister, Marjorie Ward of CA, a sister in law, Gloria Janes of UT, a brother in law and sister in law, William and Edith Hirsch of Alexander, a sister in law, Mary Hirsch of Batavia, and his beloved dog, Buddy and cat, Ella, along with many nieces and nephews.

     Henry graduated from Attica School in 1954 and served with the US Army for one year.  He was very active in the Pavilion United Methodist Church. He was a bible teacher, treasurer for 10 years and was part of a group of five members, who started a youth group after school for grades 5 – 12.  Henry was an avid bible reader and had read the entire bible three times, plus had read The Upper Room every day.  He was a bookkeeper for 40 years, working for Dipson Theaters, Charles Mancuso & Sons, the Batavia club, plus others.  He loved to crotchet and made many bedspreads, tablecloths and doilies, and won many awards for his work.  He also loved to work in his flowerbeds.  He was a former member of the Stafford Grange, the LeRoy Moose and was a member of the Pavilion United Methodist Church for 40 years.

     Family and friends may call on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 10 – 11 A.M. at the Pavilion United Methodist Church, where services will be held at 11 A.M.  Interment in Pavilion Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.

Marjorie G. Cervone

Marjorie G. Cervone, 91 of Batavia, passed away on Thursday October 9, 2014 at LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home. She was born on May 9, 1923 in Ithaca to the late Samuel (Minnie Bristow) Patterson. She is preceded in death by her husband Dominic “Murph” Cervone in 1996 and seven siblings.

Marjorie was retired from Genesee Memorial Hospital where she was a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Friends of the Library and she volunteered at the Holland Land Office.

She is survived by her sons  Thomas Cervone of Batavia, Gary (Theresa) Cervone of Houston, TX; daughter Lou Ann (Scott) Sedgwick of Phoenix, AZ, sister Edwena (Lester) Day of Weedsport and 3 granddaughters Sarina, Alyssa and Mikayla Sedgwick along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours.  Funeral Services will be held privately. She will be laid to rest in Grand View Cemetery in Batavia.

Kathleen M. Foster

Kathleen M. Foster, 90, of LeRoy passed away on Monday October 6, 2014 at Rochester General Hospital. She was born on April 19, 1924 in Montgomery, VT  to the late George (Hazel Doe) Paxman. She is preceded in death by her husband Frederick C. Foster; brother Ernest Paxman; sister Beulah Jones and son-in-law Lawrence Green.

Kathleen was a member of the Roanoke Community Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs.Foster enjoyed being around family and friends. She also loved to play cards, paint and play bingo.

She is survived by her children Wayne (Kathy) Foster of Elba, Bryan (Paula) Foster of IL, Janice Green of LeRoy, Bonnie (Larry) Riffel of IL; sister Hattie Mayott of VT; sister-in-law Marjorie Paxman of VT along with 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours and Funeral Service will be held in Vermont. She will be laid to rest in Richford Center Cemetery, Vermont.

Florence Crofoot, Pavilion: October 5, 2014 at age 95

Predeceased by her first husband, William Henry Selden and second husband, Ward DeLong Crofoot; sisters, Ruth Woodley, Eudora Stevens, Frances Edson. She is survived by her children, Miriam Muehlig, Martha (David)  McCutchen, Grace Freeman, Mary (John) Cross; grandchildren, Jess Muehlig, Bethany Freeman, Colleen (Aaron) Garner; great –grandchildren, Sadie and Chloe Garner; sister, Martha (Raymond) Baxter; many nieces and nephews. Florence was church secretary for the 1st Presbyterian Church of LeRoy, and worked in accounts payable at B.R. DeWitt Company in Pavilion.  Florence was a loving mother to her family, and was very active in the Pavilion United Methodist Church.

Bennie W. Swanson Jr.

Bennie W. Swanson Jr., 93, of East Pembroke passed away on Sunday October 5, 2014 at the Batavia VA Medical Center. He was born on April 23 1921 in Cheektowaga. He was the son of the late Bennie (Anna Boyle) Swanson Sr. He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Holnbeck Swanson, son Nels Swanson, Brothers Pat, Edward, William, John and Robert Swanson and Sister Annabelle Stellrecht.   

Bennie was retired from Local 22 Buffalo Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Union where he was a pipe fitter. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, Life Member of Local 22, member of VFW Post 7962 in Alden, former member of East Pembroke Fire Department, Life Member of Coon Hunters Club in East Pembroke. Bennie enjoyed farming and spending time with his grandchildren.

Bennie is survived by his children Robert (Patricia) Swanson, Stephen (Becky) Swanson all of Batavia, Benjamin (Susan) Swanson of Corfu, Mary (Jay) Horvath of Doylestown, PA, Margaret (Craig) Weber of Loveland, OH, Holly (Paul) Dougherty of Pavilion, Rose (William) Massett of Silver Springs, and Raymond Swanson of E. Pembroke; daughter-in-law Susan Shockley of Nashville; sister Marie Wynnings of Honeoye; 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy F. Bash

Dorothy F. Bash, 93, of Batavia passed away on Sunday October 5, 2014 at Batavia Health Care Center. She was born on October 18, 1920 in Batavia to the late Andrew (Florence Lobach) Snyder. She is preceded in death by her first husband Vincent Panzone Sr. who was killed during World War II Battle of the Bulge in 1945; her second husband Arthur R. Bash who passed away February 13, 2010; sister Helen (Harry) Wagner; brother-in-law John Panzone; sisters-in-law Ada (Gordon) Hyde and Grace (Anthony) Bonadonna.

Dorothy worked as a telephone operator for New York Telephone Company. She was an avid bowler and loved the outdoors and enjoyed golfing and playing cards.

She is survived by her sons Vincent Panzone Jr. of  IL, Edward (MaryAnn) Panzone of Batavia, brother-in-law William Bash of Co; grandchildren Kerry Panzone, Daniel Panzone, Melanie (Jonathon) Panzone Read, David (Tereza) Panzone; great-grandchildren Alexander, Henry Read, Rosemarie, Amelia Panzone along with many nieces and nephews.

Richard "Hulio" Vangalio

Caledonia ~ Richard "Hulio" Vangalio, age 63, of Ida's Lane, passed away Sunday afternoon (October 5, 2014) at home surrounded by his loving family.

     He was born April 21, 1951 in Batavia, N.Y., a son of the late Samuel and Florence Embroli Vangalio.

     Richard will be remembered for his love of family and friends.  He was known for his sense of humor and easy going demeanor.  He was a proud veteran, having served with the US AirForce.  His love of carpentry and personal craftsmanship, eventually led him to establish his own business, Van-Gal Inc.

     He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Theresa Miller Vangalio, his children; Peter Vangalio of LeRoy, Heather (Ryan) O'Reilly of Caledonia and Richard (Renee) Vangalio of Churchville; his grandchildren, Kaden Vangalio, Madeline O'Reilly, Teagan O'Reilly and Ryker Vangalio; his sister-in-law, Deborah (Lee) Rogers of Moravia, along with many nieces, nephews,aunts and dear friends.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Joyce Wickson.

     Family and friends may call on Friday from 4 ~ 8 P.M. at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy.  His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Americas Church, 864 East Main St., Rochester, with entombment to follow at Ascension Garden Mausoleum.

Margaret Rose Dart Valderrey

Margaret Rose Dart Valderrey, 70 of Charlotte North Carolina

Margaret passed into the arms of her Lord October 2, 2014, with her husband Daniel by her side.  Step mother Juan Manuel of Argentina and Melana of Australia.

Daughter of Hobart and Beatrice Dart of Alexander New York, sister of David (2003), Gloria (Wafik) Girges, Elaine Dart, and Marie (Dart) McClurg. 

Aunt of Joshua (Dannielle) Girges, Sarah (Dwayne) Buck, Allison Pangrazio and Jeremiah (Dr. Susan Hibbard) McClurg .  Margaret will be missed by her nieces, nephews, family and all of her many wonderful supportive neighbors and co-workers. 

Margaret lived her life in service to her savior and to the love of Nursing.  Graduating from Rochester Genesee Hospital School of Nursing, RN; Case Western Reserve B.Sc. and, B.A and Syracuse University, Masters in Science. 

After her warrior like attitude against Cancer, she has shown us what a wonderful hero she truly had become.  Margaret has asked that her friends, neighbors and co-workers know just how much she loved them.  Thank you to all her medical care providers, it is with great loss we say goodbye.

A Celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at West Bethany Baptist Church 10333 West Bethany Rd, East Bethany, NY 14054 on Wednesday October 8, 2014.  Viewing to take place 10:30 am and funeral to follow at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest in West Bethany Cemetery.

Kenneth Alfieri

Kenneth Alfieri, 71, of Tonawanda passed away on Tuesday September 30, 2014 at Hospice Buffalo in Cheektowaga. He was born on February 10, 1943 in Batavia to the late Joseph (Frances Russo) Alfieri. He is preceded in death by his brother John Alfieri.

He was a very loving; dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was a very unselfish man, his family always came first.  Mr. Alfieri was a United States Army Veteran. He worked as a logistics manager for Fisher Price in East Aurora, Department of Labor in Lockport and Kidspeace National Center which was very important to him. He belonged to St. Gregory The Great Roman Catholic Church. He coached both tennis and baseball and was an avid tennis player. He loved baseball specifically the New York Yankees.

He is survived by his beloved wife Carolyn (Liberto) Alfieri of Tonawanda; children  Kenneth A. Alfieri of Forest Park, IL, Paul J. (Dena) Alfieri of Tonawanda, Wendy A. (Anthony) Fazzolari of Newfane; grandchildren Nicholas, Jonathon Alfieri, Maria, Gianna Fazzolari, Marissa Stainsby along with many nieces and nephews.

KAROL LAVRINCIK SR.

KAROL LAVRINCIK SR. – Age 87, of Darien Center, died peacefully Monday morning September 29, 2014 at his home under the care of Wyoming County Hospice. He was born September 11, 1927 in Romania, a son of the late Jan and Maria Lavrincik.  

   Mr. Lavrincik was in the roofers local union #74 and was a self-employed farmer for many years. A member of Our Lady of Good Counsel RC Church, he enjoyed farming, gardening, growing his own grapes and making homemade wine, was a beekeeper and had a love of the outdoors especially hunting and fishing.

   Surviving is his beloved wife of over 50 years, Dorothy (Grigsby) of Darien Center; sons, Karl (Deb) Lavrincik Jr. of Warsaw, John (Ann) Lavrincik & Richard (Brenda) Lavrincik all of Attica; daughter, Kathryn (Tom) Lukasik of Attica; sister, Francesca Sfzarski of Attica; his wonderful caregivers, Gerri & Virginia; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

   Family and friends may visit from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday October 1, 2014 at the Michael S. Everett G. Norris

Everett G. Norris, 77, of Melborne Florida passed away on Monday September 29, 2014 at Rochester General Hospital. He was born on September 4, 1937 in Batavia to the late George (Margaret Smith) Norris. He is preceded in death by his brother Gordon Norris.

Everette worked for Pepperidge Farms in Rochester as a Bakery Distributor.  He was a member of the Palm Bay United Methodist Church and the Free and Accepted Masons.

He is survived by his beloved wife Doris A.  (Hitchcock) Norris of Melborne, FL; children Linda C. (Timothy) Anderson of Batavia, Jeffrey G. (Linda) Norris of Batavia, Lori A. (fiancé Richard Baldeck) Pietrzykowski of Churchville; grandchildren Michael, Kelly, Timothy; great-grandchildren Nicholas, Lukas, and Lucy along with many nieces and nephews.

William E. Sutter

William E. Sutter, age 83, of Perry, died on Monday September 29, 2014 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 1, 1931 a son of the late William and Agnes Sutten.

William worked for the Nickel Plate Road Railroad, Morton Salt Co. and the Rochester Laborer’s Union. He served with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was on the USS Hammer DD-718. He received the United Nations Metal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service medal and the China Service Medal. He was a member of the Perry VFW Post #5009, National Geographic Society, and the American Legion Post #799 in Buffalo. He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, watching old war movies and talking about his experience in the war.

He is survived by his companion for 23 years Thelma Flint of Perry; step-daughter Kristie (Thomas) Fravel of Perry; step-sons Randy (Colleen) Newton of Livonia , Roy Newton of Perry; grandchildren Kenneth, Marissa, Dakota, Caleb, Aubrey, Mary and Lucy.

Timothy "Poppy" Hasson

Timothy “Poppy” Hasson, 60 of Batavia, passed way on Saturday September 27, 2014 at his home under the care of Hospice. He was born on June 16, 1954 in Batavia to the late Thomas (Therese English) Hasson. He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly (Joy) Hasson, daughter Jeri Bartholomew and brother Thomas Hasson.

Tim was retired from Rochester General Hospital where he was an electrician. He attended Discovery Chapel and he enjoyed camping.

Tim is survived by his fiancée Darlene Martaus of Batavia, sons Craig (Jackie) Alley of Deland, FL; Robert Alley of N. Tonawanda; daughters Beth (Michael) Whaley of N. Tonawanda; Pamela (Gary) Kilgore of Batavia; Sheree (Brian) Barto of Alexander; brother Gerald (Vickie) Hasson of FL; sisters Kathleen (Jerry) Reilley of PA; and Patty (Lou) Angelucci of PA; 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Jay M. Cummings

Jay M. Cummings, 65, of Darien passed away on Sunday September 28, 2014 at home. He was born February 5, 1949 in Batavia to the late Donald (Elizabeth McLaggen) Cummings. He is preceded in death by his brother Donald Cummings.

Jay owned and operated Cummings Collision, along with loving cars he was an avid fisherman. He loved his children very much and enjoyed spending time with his family.  

He is survived by his sons Jay R. Cummings of Greece, Steven M. Cummings of Darien; daughter Danielle E. Cummings of Spring Hill, FL; sisters Joyce Gold of Depew, Nancy (Ken) Alfis of Batavia, Peggy (Dave) Thompson of Churchville; granddaughter Jaylynn Cummings along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday October 1, 2014 from 5 to 9 PM at Marley Funeral Home, LLC. 135 Main Street Attica, New York 14011. An 11:00 AM Funeral Service will take place on Thursday October 2, 2014 at the Funeral Home. Mr. Cummings will be laid to rest in Darien Cemetery.
