GERALD A. THOMPSON

GERALD A. THOMPSON – Age 90, of Batavia, died peacefully Friday evening May 2, 2014 at the Genesee County Nursing Home. He was born November 20, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Gerald & Marie (Schuster) Thompson also preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene & Robert and sisters, Patricia Hogan & Gloria Morton.

   Mr. Thompson is a WWII Army Veteran, a member of the North Darien Bible Church, he enjoyed traveling and had a great love for his family.

   Surviving is his beloved wife of 67 years, Geraldine (Schleicher) Thompson of Batavia; loving children, Richard (Judy) Thompson of Michigan, Joanne Venema of Corfu and Peggy (late Larry) Walden of Michigan; grandchildren, David "Chip" Walden, Craig Walden, Andrea Thomas, Amanda Clifford, Amy (Brandon) Seliger; 7 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Russell Morton of Michigan along with many nieces and nephews.

   Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life service for Mr. Thompson 11:30 a.m. Thursday May 8, 2014 at the North Darien Bible Church 9762 Simonds Road Corfu, New York 14036, Military Honors will follow. Memorial contributions can be made to the church.

DAVID S. "CHIEF" HALL

DAVID S. "CHIEF" HALL - Age 67, of Stafford, died peacefully Saturday morning May 3, 2014 at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was born February 2, 1947 in Buffalo, NY to the late Lawrence and Winifred (Bolton) Hall.

   David was a State Inspector for the New York State Racing/Wagering Board. He will always be remembered for his passion, dedication and love for his family.

   He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Donna (King) Hall of Stafford; beloved father of, Colby (Danielle) Hall of Warrenton, VA; Katherine Hall of Fairfax, VA and Tyler Hall of New Orleans, LA; brother, Steve (Joanne) Hall of Stafford along with several nieces and nephews.

   Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of David's Life, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday May 6, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church of LeRoy Main & Clay Streets LeRoy, New York 14482. Marion M. Price

Marion M. Price, 93, of Varysburg passed away on Saturday May 3, 2014 at Buffalo General Hospital.  She was born April 8, 1921 in Buffalo to the late Wilbur E. (Jean) Getz.  Marion worked at Motorola in Arcade NY.  She loved all animals in general and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and taking cruises all over the world.

Marion is survived by her loving daughter Gail Price of Varysburg, NY.  Cousins James A. (Julia) Tait, Cheryl Tait of Marilla NY, Donald Tait of Welland Ontario, Douglas Tait of New Brunswick, and Robert Tait of St. Catherines Ontario.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday May 6, 2014 from 10AM-1PM at Marley Funeral Home, LLC. 135 Main St. Attica, NY 14011 where Funeral Services will follow at 1PM.  She will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery in Attica.

Mary Jane Lazarony

Mary Jane Lazarony, 84, of Batavia, passed away Saturday morning (May 3, 2014) at the Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home in Clarence, NY.

She was born in Lackawanna, NY on April 24, 1930, a daughter of the late Edward and Helen Tangalder Minich.

Mary enjoyed baking, taking care of her flower gardens, playing with her grandchildren and was an avid Buffalo Bills and Sabre fan.  Walking with her grandchildren through downtown Batavia was a joy to her.  She cherished her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In 1978 Mary was instrumental in her family ownership of the Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurant in Batavia which was formerly located on East Main Street. She was also a member of Resurrection Parish.

Survivors include her husband of almost 59 years, Horace J. Lazarony Jr., of Batavia.  Daughter, Ruth (Joseph) Jensen of Avon. Sons, David (Mary) Lazarony of Stroudsburg, PA, Horace “Jay” (Donna) Lazarony III of Batavia, Jerome Lazarony of Brunswick, OH and James (Diana) Lazarony of Corfu. Sisters, Margaret Horvath of Lackawanna, Dorothy (Daniel) Losardo of W. Seneca and Shirley Lassel of Buffalo. Brothers, Eugene Minich of Buffalo and Edward (Lucille) Minich of W. Seneca.  Also survived by 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Charles Minich.

Lucy T. Zientara

Lucy T. Zientara, 89 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Thursday (May 1, 2014) at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia.

She was born in Auburn, NY on June 9, 1924, daughter of the late John and Josephine Stbel Klenkiewicz.

Lucy was a member of Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart Church), lifetime member of the Sacred Heart Church Altar and Rosary Society and the Polish Falconettes.  She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family.

She was the wife of the late Henry E. Zientara, who died on December 27, 2003 and sister of the late Frank Kaznowski, Mary Slisz and Dorothy Kijowski.

Survivors include her son, Henry J. Zientara of Batavia. Daughter, Kathy Trzecieski of Batavia. Granddaughter, Valerie Trzecieski of Batavia. Sister in-law, Rita (August) Stornelli of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share fond memories, condolences and thoughts on Monday morning from 9:00am – 10:30am at the J. Augustin "Augie" Iannello III

LeRoy / Rochester ~ Augustin "Augie" Iannello III, age 41,  formerly of LeRoy, passed away Wednesday morning (April 30, 2014) at Unity Hospital in Rochester after a long illness.

     Augie was born  January 12, 1973 in Batavia, a son of Augustin Iannello Jr. and Elizabeth Pleace Fisher.

     He is survived by his dad, Augustin  Iannello Jr. of LeRoy, his mom, Elizabeth "Bonnie" Fisher (Roger Englert) of Rochester, his sisters, Elizabeth Iannello of LeRoy and Anna Iannello (Nathan Smith) of CO, several aunts and uncles, and his very loving extended family at Lifetime Assistance.

     Family and friends may call on Sunday, May 11 from 4 ~ 8 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy.  Augie's funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 12 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Joseph's Oratory, 27 Lake St., LeRoy, with interment to follow in St. Francis Cemetery.

Augustine "Augie" A. Rubino

 LeRoy ~ Augustine "Augie" A. Rubino, age 88, formerly of Keeney Road, passed away early Tuesday morning (April 29, 2014) at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia.

     Mr. Rubino was born May 12, 1925 in LeRoy, a son of the late Ignazio and Rosalia O'Geen Rubino.

     He will be remembered as a hardworking business man, who opened his first grocery store in 1951.  He loved to work outdoors, where he would tend to his garden and flowers.  He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed playing golf  and "snowbirding" to Florida with his wife, Alice.

     He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Alice Shimburske Rubino, a brother, Frank (Patty) Rubino of Bergen, sisters, Connie Capuano of Batavia and Sarah (Ronald) Dusing of Rochester, a special nephew and niece, Frank (Ann) Capuano of Batavia, along with many  nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Rose Marie Gervase.

     Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2 ~ 5 at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy.  His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Joseph's Oratory.

L. Bernard Stedman

L. Bernard Stedman, 85, a lifelong dairy farmer of Attica, passed away peacefully on April 29th, 2014.  He was born March 20, 1929 in Attica, NY.  He was the husband of the late Winifred Stedman and the son of the late Leo J. and Minna (Marley) Stedman. 

He had a great love for horses and agriculture that he enjoyed sharing with others. He was a Wyoming County Fair Board member and served as superintendent of the Draft Horse Show.  Bernard was the past president of the Western New York Draft Horse Club, and member of the Upstate Milk Cooperative.

Bernard is survived by four children; Nancy Battaglia of Rochester, “Buster” Bernard (Janet) Stedman of Attica, Patricia Mitzel of Attica, Barbara Hopkins of Orangeville; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Stedman of Attica, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  He was predeceased by a brother Paul Stedman and sisters Margaret Bausch and Helen Wheeler.

A Memorial Service will be May 2, 2014, 2:30p.m. at St. Joachim & Anne Roman Catholic Parish, 50 East Ave. in Attica.

Rose P. Broecker

Rose P. Broecker, 72, of Attica passed away on Wednesday April 30, 2014 at her home. She was born on October 7, 1941 in Buffalo to the late John (Josephine) Winkowski. She was a member of the former St. Vincent’s Church in Attica.  Rose was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Broecker.

Mrs. Broecker is survived by her son Tony (Tina) Mackiewicz of Attica; sister, Dolores Winkowski of Buffalo; grandchildren, Michael (Kelly) Szczepanski of Florida, Nicholas (Kimberley) Szczepanski of Florida, Rachelle (Bradley) Kirsch of Attica, four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including Kathi (Jim) Lenartowicz. 

There will be no prior calling hours. Funeral Services and Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Jennie R. DeFilippo

Jennie R. DeFilippo, 95 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 29, 2014 at Batavia Health Care Center. She was born on September 9, 1918 in Batavia to the late John (Isabella Ranallo) Rosica. Mrs. DeFilippo was a self employed beautician for 49 years and prior to that she was a bookkeeper for the Lawrence and Joseph Mancuso at Mancuso Motors in Batavia. Jennie was a long time member of Resurrection Parish. She is preceded in death by her husband Dominick DeFilippo who died in 2000, Brother Patrick (Nicolina) Mannella, and sisters Mary (Victor) Bonito, and Catherine (Thomas) Marchese and brother in law Andrew Dutch.  

Jennie is survived by her sister Fannie Rosica Dutch of Batavia, two sisters in law Rose Wierzycki of Oakfield and Lena Sformo of Spencerport, NY and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Saturday May 3, 2014 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc 329-333 West Main Street, Batavia New York 1420 where prayers will follow at 11:30AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 12 Noon at Resurrection Parish 303 East Main St. Batavia, New York 14020. KATHERINE ROSE KING

KATHERINE ROSE KING – Age 51, of Oakfield, died Monday morning April  28, 2014. She was born October 13, 1962 in Batavia to John F. & Frances (Lake) King of Attica also preceded in death by her brother, John F. King.

   Kathy loved to travel, dance and was a huge fan of Toby Keith. She was a 30 year resident with the ARC and worked in the Day Hab Program, she was known as the "Social Butterfly" by all who knew her.

   Surviving along with her parents, is a brother, Christopher (Abbye) King of Portland, OR; sisters, Jacqueline King of LA and Theresa Carmichael of Attica; several aunts, uncles; nieces, Hayden King & Kaylee Carmichael; nephews, Max, Colby King & Dakota Murray and great-nephew, Luke Harrington.

   There is no prior visitation and services will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Genesee County Chapter of the NYSARC, Inc. 64 Walnut Street Batavia, New York 14020.

DOLORES E. "DEE" AUGROM

DOLORES E. "DEE" AUGROM - Age 71, of Batavia, died peacefully Friday evening April 25, 2014 at home under the care of her loving family. She was born June 9, 1942 in Buffalo, NY to the late Isadore and Celia (Olejniczak) Hardy, also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

   Dolores was a long time member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church and was the cafeteria manager at the former St. Anthony's School. She was an avid bowler and will be remembered for her Memorial Day gatherings.  

   She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Charles A. Augrom of Batavia; sons, Charles (Teresa) Augrom Jr. of Port Richey, FL and Craig (Jaime) Augrom of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Deanna (Michael) Wisto of Lockport, NY; beloved nonnie of, Erika Johnston of Stafford; sisters, Janet (William) Michno of West Seneca and Rosalie (Joseph) Pallato of Edmond, OK along with several nieces and nephews.

   Family and friends may visit from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday May 3, 2014 at the Michael S. Josephine V. Biggs

LeRoy ~ Josephine V. Biggs, age 96, passed away early Sunday morning (April 27, 2014) at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

     Mrs. Biggs was born January 27, 1918 in LeRoy, a daughter of the late Charles and Agnes Gioia Leone.

     She will be remembered as a very loving person, who was a very active, lifetime member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

     She is survived by her sister, Agnes (Dan) Iannicello of Baldwinsville, a step-son, Garnet (Norma) Biggs of VA, along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Biggs and her siblings, Mary Kownaski, Frank Leone and Thomas Leone.

     Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 10 ~ 11 A.M. at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Joseph's Oratory, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00.  Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to either the American Legion's Ladies Auxiliary or the "Sunshine Fund" of the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

Roger P. Case

Roger P. Case, 61, of Darien Center, passed away at his home, Friday (April 25, 2014).

Roger was born on July 30, 1952, in Batavia, a son of the late Elmer and Victoria Rudney Case.

He was a load operator for Edward Arnold Scrap Processors.  Roger loved the Yankees, fishing, camping, spending time with his grandchildren and just “puttering” around.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Cheryl (Heidenreich) Case of Darien Center; his daughters, Victoria (Jason) Czworka of Bennington and Stephania Case (Mark McElfresh) Of Gainesville;  grandchildren, Dominic Case, Mark McElfresh, George Czworka, Colby McElfresh, Elizabeth Czworka and Haylee McElfresh; one brother, Elmer (Patricia) Case of Corfu and one sister, Shirley Philips. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Roger was predeceased by his brothers, Robert Case and Gerald Case and a sister, Helen Kashuba.

Family and friends may call Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc. 4 East Main Street, Corfu. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Joseph L. Tremblay

Joseph L Tremblay, 93, of Perry passed away peacefully on Friday April 25, 2014 at NYS Home for Veterans in Batavia.  He was born February 10, 1921 in Vermont.  Joseph was a WWII and Korean War veteran in the US Army and was preceded in death by a son, Patrick J. Tremblay, Vietnam War in 1968.

He is survived by 5 sons and 1 daughter; Michael (Mary) of Prattsburg, NY; Tony (Patricia) of Cohocton, NY; Marie (John) Nettnin, Perry, NY; Francis (Judy) of Rochester, NY; Peter (Pam) of Coudersport, PA, Henry (Jeanine) of Georgia;  11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter along with many nieces and nephews.

Joseph loved gardening, flowers and vegetables.  He also loved drawing and painting and was involved in the Grandparents Program and volunteered at Avoca and Perry Elementary Schools.

There will be no prior calling hours.  A private graveside service will be held by the immediate family.  Mr. Tremblay will be laid to rest in St. Michael's Cemetery on Shelly Road in Livonia, NY
