Age 80, of Batavia, died peacefully Monday morning September 24, 2012 at LeRoy Village Green. He was born August 4, 1932 in Batavia, a son of the late Chester & Cecilia (Pastecki) Mruczek and also preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane (Grasso) Mruczek in 1998.

Chester was a longtime member of Resurrection Parish and served in the Merchant Marine. He worked at the former GTE Sylvania, Terry Hills and was the owner/operator of Chet's Janitorial and Angelina's Pizzeria. He most enjoyed his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, time spent with his family, vacations and being at his cottage at the lake.

He is survived by his loving children, Steven Mruczek of Canandaigua, Richard (Carolyn) Mruczek of Bennington, Robert (Lori) Mruczek, Deborah Mruczek all of Batavia and Angela (Frank) Ferri of Medina; brother, Fran (Frannie DiFlippo); sisters, Janet and Alice Mruczek all of Batavia; sisters-in-law, Sister Virginia Marie Grasso of Buffalo, Louise Capuano, Betty Grasso both of Batavia, Nellie Grasso of Florida; brother-in-law, Joseph (Betty) Grasso of Batavia; 11 grandchildren, Tammy (Dan) Rykert, Kimberly (Gene) Kulp, Lisa (Rich) Biegasiewicz, Gabriella (Joe Pawlak) Ferri, Melissa & Chad Mruczek, Erica (Phil) Grazioplene, Brian (Erika) Mruczek, Nick (Danielle) Mruczek, Jonathan Mruczek and Curtis Gallagher; 11 great-grandchildren, Courtney & Zachary Biegasiewicz, Dylan Rykert, Vincent, Gina & Miranda Grazioplene, Giana, Lokada, Hunter, Dominic & Miah Mruczek along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Age 60, of Batavia, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday September 22, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born April 15, 1952 in Batavia, NY, a son of Andrew & Irene (Peterson) Staebell of Pembroke.

Marty was employed by Graham Manufacturing for 33 years. He was also a master woodworker and electrician. He enjoyed fishing, kayaking, white-water rafting and building his cabin at, "The Pond."

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years Patti (Kohorst) Staebell of Batavia; daughters, Sharon (Chris) Pawlak, Deanna (Nathan) Korzelius; and son, Brian Staebell; grandchildren, Corinne and Hadley Korzelius; sister, Pat (Wirt) Fuller; brothers, Mike (Harriet) Staebell and Thomas Staebell; brothers-in-law, Mark Horowitz & Thomas (Patty) Kohorst; sisters-in-law, Donna (James) Gangloff, Kathie (Tony) Waclawski & Suzanne (Danny) Cain along with several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Barbara J. Knowles, 57 of Perry died September 17, 2012 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born November 6, 1954 in Warsaw to the late Samuel Wesley Gill and Harriett Ann (Barber) Gill of Perry. Barb was a resident of Perry, NY her whole life.  While attending High School there she fell in love with Randy Knowles.  They were married for 41 wonderful years.  She was always talking about how proud she was of her kids and grandkids.  Barb was seldom seen without a big smile on her face.  She easily made friends with anyone and everyone, all of which she considered family.  She made a profound impact on everyone she came in contact with and will be greatly missed by many.  Barb loved family vacations, camping, and was an avid reader.  She was a very selfless person who always volunteered.  Her ultimate goal was to see the joy she brought to others. She is preceded in death by a brother John “Jack” Gill.

Barb is survived by her beloved husband Randy L. Knowles Sr. of Perry; son Randy L. (Ruth) Knowles Jr. of Euless, TX; daughter Bethany A. (Thomas) McIntyre II of Perry; grandchildren Randy L. Knowles III, Lauren Knowles, Ashley and Bryce McIntyre; a brother James (Barbara) Gill of Elba; sister-in-law Cheryl (Brian) Bentley of Perry; along with several nieces and nephews.

Michael John Wandryk, 96, of Batavia died Monday evening (September 17, 2012) at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia.

He was born in Batavia on December 17, 1915, a son of the late John and Sophie Zimnal Wandryk.

Mr. Wandryk was the owner of the former Wandryk’s Superette in Batavia prior to his retirement.  He served with the U.S. Army during WWII in Central Europe, Rhineland, Sicily, southern France and Tunisia.  He achieved the rank of Corporal and was the recipient of the American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Bronze Medal.

He was a member of Ascension Parish, charter member of the Ascension Parish Holy Name Society, Polish Falcons of America and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Wandryk was the husband of the late Christine Maliszewski Wandryk who died on June 14, 2001 and father of the late Michael Paul Wandryk who died on December 25, 2008. 

Survivors include two sons and daughters in-law, John (Lynne) Wandryk of Dallas, TX and Kevin (Julia Caulfield) Wandryk of Los Altos, CA.  Two granddaughters, Lauren and Kristen Wandryk. Brother, Frank (Carol) Wandryk of Batavia. Sisters, Antoinette Corbelli of Amherst, Anne O’Grady of Syracuse, Jane “Jennie” Crowe of Amherst and Constance (Jerry) McGuire of Fairport.

He was the brother of the late Onofre “Norf” Wandryk, Caroline and Rose Wandryk, Veronica Bezon and Sophie Trybushyn.

Friends of the family are cordially invited to share their thoughts, condolences and fond memories with the family on Thursday from 4-7pm at the J. Noreen Marie Knapp, 66 of Batavia  died September 15, 2012 peacefully at Crossroads House in Batavia. She was born November 12, 1945 in Lockport, to the late Raymond (Hazel Murphy) Baudendistel. Noreen was a registered nurse for 40 years graduating from Genesee Community College Nursing Program. She was employed by United Memorial Medical Center and retired as Nurse Manager of the Ambulatory Care Surgical Unit. She was a volunteer for the Salvation Army for many years and President of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, she loved to camp, hunt, draw and paint. She was also a member of the Master Gardeners and Sun Catchers Group, she enjoyed dancing; was the winner of a Jitterbug Dance Contest and she was a member of the Ladies Investment Group.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years Frank Knapp of Batavia, stepsons David Merritt and John Knapp both of Batavia, step daughters Patricia (Wayne Burgess) Knapp of Marcellus, NY and Barbara Knapp of Auburn, NY. A special dear friend Connie Ferris of Batavia survives along with 4 grandchildren...

Frances was born in Nottingham, England on March 6, 1914 a daughter of the late John and Rose Scarlett Attenborough. She worked as a seamstress in England. In 1975 she moved to the United States to be closer to her daughters. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, music, singing, gardening, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Stevenson who died in 1967, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

She is survived by 3 daughters: Pauline Grice of Batavia, Doreen (Robert) Hedley of Perth, Australia and Yvonne (Thomas) Swyers of Perry, 8 grandchildren: Stephen (Brenda) Grice, Joanne Beck, Veet (Karen) Hedley, Chris ( Jessy ) Hedley, Joey (June) Swyers, Elizabeth “Bibs” (Michael) Emerling, Jacob (Kim) Swyers and Daniel (Ashley) Swyers, 19 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law: Olive Attenborough of Nottingham, England, along with many nieces and nephews.

     Age 92, of Batavia, died peacefully Sunday afternoon September 16, 2012 at the Batavia Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 20, 1919 in Rochester, NY, a daughter of the late Anthony & Alice (Concetta Gugino) Mondo, she was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Michelle.

     Jo was an employee of GTE Sylavania in Batavia and the former RF Communications in Rochester where she lived most of her adult life untill moving to Batavia 17 years ago to be closer to her children. She lived at the Monsignor Kirby apartments where she enjoyed her friends, loved to play cards, read novels and spend time with her family.

     Surviving is her beloved daughter Patricia A. (Carl) Tomaszewski of Batavia, loving sons James (Josephine) Tubiolo of Oakfield and Phil (Patricia) Tubiolo of Nevada; sister Antoinette Burns of Batavia and brother John (Nancy) Mondo of Florida; grandchildren Michael S.    Age 67, of Batavia, died Sunday morning September 16, 2012 at United Memorial Medical Center. She was born August 18, 1945 in Batavia, NY, a daughter of the late Everett J. & Dorothy E. (Smith) Miller, also preceded in death by her husband James R. Barberio Sr. in 2001, her daughter Sandy Wittkop, a brother Clifford Miller and granddaughter Jordyn Barberio and grandson Michael Boyce.

     Marie was a member of the Elba Methodist Church and worked for many years at Elba Central School. A wonderful mother and grandmother who was an avid bingo player, enjoyed arts and crafts, especially needlepoint.

     Surviving are her loving children James R. Barberio Jr. of Batavia, Chris (Joy) Barberio, Cheryl (Dan) Boyce, Connie Barberio all of Elba and Robin (Dan) Wissinger of Oakfield; brothers Richard (Linda) Miller and Ken (Nancy) Miller all of Oakfield; son-in-law Emmitt Wittkop of Batavia; 10 grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews & friends.

Henry Gorski, 88 of Batavia died September 16, 2012 at the New York State Veterans Home at Batavia. He was born April 8, 1924 in Buffalo to the late Valentine (Kunegunda Balcerak) Gorski. Mr. Gorski was a WWII Army Veteran and took part in both the Battle of the Bulge and Normandy. He was retired from Trojan Industries. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by six brothers Julian, Stanley, Joseph, Raymond, Edward, and Alfred Gorski along with two sisters Cecelia Kendall and Viola Travinski.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Gertrude C. (Sivret) Gorski; son Charles (Susan) Gorski; daughters Patricia Ann Zanghi all of Batavia; Cecelia (Tony Ortiz) Gorski of Lackawanna; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

     Age 55, a resident of Upper Black Eddy, PA died suddenly Wednesday September 12, 2012 at his home. He was born July 15, 1957 in Buffalo, a son of Mary (Wangler) Young of Pembroke and the late Jack Young.

     David moved to New Jersey in 1984, where he resided until 2012, when he moved to Pennsylvania, yet always holding ties to the Buffalo and Batavia area. He was the owner/operator of Tailor Cut Produce in North Brunswick, NJ, a proud member of the Republican Club of Upper Black Eddy, National Rifle Association and enjoyed making his homemade wine.

     Surviving along with his mother, Mary; his beloved wife of 24 years Dawn (Makwinski) Young; loving children Matthew William, Jack Andrew and Samantha Dawn; 4 brothers Marty (Chris) Young of Batavia, John (Tammy) Young of Niagara Falls, Joe (Lori) Young of Basom and Andrew (Denise) Young of Batavia; 3 sisters Connie (Jim) Fritschi of N. Batavia- Mr. George T. Raines, 90, a retired teacher and coach at Batavia Public Schools from 1949 to his retirement in 1984, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012at Crossroads House, in Batavia.

Mr. Raines was born January 26, 1922 in Rochester, the son of the late Guy M. and Ruby Clark Raines.

He attended Canandaigua Institute and graduated from SUNY Brockport in 1949.  While at SUNY Brockport he met his future wife, Marie Emerling and married on August 27, 1949. Mrs. Raines died June 25, 2010.  Both he and his wife loved golf and were former members of Stafford Country Club.  He was a member of Resurrection Parish, St. Joseph’s Church. In 2005, Mr. Raines was inducted into the Batavia Blue Devils Athletic Hall of Fame.

A veteran of World War II he served with the US Navy from 1942 to 1945.  He was a pharmacist’s mate stationed in Seattle, Washington.

 In addition to his late wife, Marie, he was predeceased by his siblings, Guy M. Raines, Jr., Margaret O’Brien and Virginia Moore.

Survivors include a son, Tim Raines of Marietta, Georgia and a daughter, Maureen (Sal) Palatiere of Spring, Texas.    Also surviving are two grandchildren, Benjamin Palatiere and Allison (Daniel) Herrin, nieces and nephews.

 There will be no prior visitation.  Mass will be at 9:30 AM, Monday, September 17, 2012 at Resurrection Parish St. Joseph Church, 303 E. Corfu - Constance Plummer Miller, 93, passed away Sunday (September 9, 2012) at St. Joseph’s Hospital. The daughter of Clayton and Grace Plummer, she was born in Buffalo, August 14, 1919.

Following graduation from William Smith College in Geneva NY with a B.A. in sociology, Mrs. Miller joined the Red Cross and was stationed in India where she spent nine months at Air Force Headquarters. She then moved to China for a second tour of duty where she was responsible for radio publicity and broadcasted two shows daily from Radio Tokyo. She was also stationed in Japan during WWII and was a volunteer plotter for the Army Air Corps Early Warning System, where she tracked and identified all aircraft in the area. 

Upon her return to the US Mrs. Miller worked with the USO in Texas, Virginia and Massachusetts prior to returning to Buffalo and earning a Master’s Degree in Social Work from The State University at Buffalo.  Mrs. Miller was employed by the State of New York at Buffalo Psychiatric Center where she held several positions and was the first female non-medical professional to hold the position of Unit Chief.  She retired from the Buffalo Psychiatric Center in 1980 but remained very active in the community. Her professional and public service careers showed an extraordinary commitment to those in our community who have been afflicted with mental illness. She helped found the Restoration Society in Buffalo to serve recovering mental health clients.

In 1988 Mrs. Miller was honored to receive the Susan B. Anthony Award from The Interclub Council of Western New York.  This prestigious award honors women of distinction who have exemplified the characteristics and spirit of Ms. Anthony which include her undaunted courage and unselfish devotion to many philanthropic purposes and to the cause of equal rights for women.

After Moving to Genesee County in 1981 and discovering that services to the mental health community were limited, she helped to found the Genesee County Mental Health Association.  More recently, The Constance E. Miller Award for Commitment to Excellence, was created in her name by the staff at the Mental Health Association in Genesee County and is given annually to an organization or individual for conspicuous service on behalf of people with mental illness.

Mrs. Miller served by appointment of the New York State Governor to the Rochester Board of Visitors of the Rochester Psychiatric Center. She served on the Community Services Board of Genesee County, Living Opportunities of Western New York and DePaul Community Services Board.

She receive many other honors for her dedication to the community in the course of her lifetime, including the Hyman Levin Professional Award from the Western New York Mental Health Association in 1974, the Volunteer of the Year Award in 1995 from the New York State Mental Health Association, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the New York State Commission of Mental Health in 2002.

Mrs. Miller was very active for many years in The Women’s Overseas Service League (WOSL), the only national veteran’s organization composed of women from all services; civilian, military and government.  She served as WOSL’s Historian, First Area Director, Executive Board Member, Carry On Editor and the Buffalo Unit’s President

An avid gardener, she enjoyed tending her extensive vegetable gardens at her summer home in Cohocton, New York. The fruits of her labor were appreciated by many, as she also enjoyed preserving the bounties of the harvest by canning.

Mrs. Miller was pre-deceased by her parents Clayton and Grace Plummer and her sister, Lois Plummer, MD. She is survived by her son Douglas (Robin) Miller of Corfu, grandson Darren Miller of Rochester and granddaughter Andre’ Miller of Corfu.

Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc. 4-6 Main Street, Corfu.  Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined.  Memorials may be made to The Genesee County Mental Health Association.

Patricia was born in Nunda, New York on September 22, 1941 a daughter of the late Robert Franklin and Mabel Stocking Losey. She passed away at her home on Friday September 7th surrounded by her family. Pat worked for the Rochester Telephone Company, the former Sears Store in Perry, Harts Insurance Co. in Perry, Wyoming County Bank, Glenn Iris Inn, and Rite Aid in Perry. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Mt. Morris, VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Perry and Silver Sneakers Club at the YMCA. She was an avid gardener, she enjoyed playing cards, traveling, going on trips to the casino, Broadway shows and concerts, and had a great love for music.

She is survived by her husband Norman Cicero whom she married on Oct. 17, 1964, 2 sons: Vincent (Brenda) Cicero of Mt. Morris and Mark Cicero of Perry, 4 sisters: Shirley Biondolillo of Perry, Shelby (Mark) Manous of Canton, Ga., Joyce Losey of Geneseo and Sharon (Gordon) Marble of Dansville, 1 brother: Robert (Sandy) Losey of Perry, 2 grandchildren: Dylan and Tylor along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Anne was born in Plattsburg, NY on February 19, 1923 a daughter of the late Harry and Florence (Ross) Myers. She passed away at East Side Nursing Home in Warsaw where she had been residing on Friday September 7th, 2012. Mrs. Fountaine was a 1941 graduate of Lion Mountain High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her 3 daughters, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She is preceded in death by her husband Victor P. LaFountaine who she married in 1945 he died in 1981, a daughter Patricia “Susie” Moomey who died in 1998; siblings and their spouses Frances (George) Remes, Patricia (John) Gill, Jane (Ralph) Compagnone, Peggy (Douglas) St. John, and Harry and Ross Myers.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Joan (Brian) Salisbury of Endicott and Bonnie (David) Davis of Perry a son-in-law: Charles Moomey of Endicott, a sister: Doris McCaully of Plattsburgh, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Robert S. Stachowski, Sr., 82 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (September 4, 2012) at his residence surrounded by his caring family.

He was born in Batavia on March 24, 1930 to the late Stanley and Mary Jsztrebeski Stachowski.

In 1955, he was professed a Brother in the Third Order of St. Francis of Assisi, where he was known as Brother Anthony. Robert was a eucharistic minister for the Genesee County and  LeRoy Village Green Nursing Homes for several years.  He was also a demitted member of the Blazing Star Lodge of East Aurora, NY, 32nd Degree member of the Buffalo Consistory and a Noble Shriner of the Buffalo Ismalia Temple.

Robert was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War with prior service in the Territory of Alaska where he performed many air rescue missions both military and civilian.  He was employed by Moog Inc. as a machinist and supervisor until his retirement after 37 years of service.  Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing and competed in the Bassin Magazine BBWC Championship where he finished 5th in the state of New York.  He was a musician and composer and enjoyed playing the accordion and piano, composing several musical works.

He was the husband of the late Fern Cudmore Stachowski who died in 1992 and Rosemary Shevlet Stachowski who died in 2011.

Survivors include four daughters;  Deborah (Paul) Glick of Amherst, Kathleen Calmes of Holland, Jacqueline (Ron) Zyglis of Lancaster and Sharon (Steven) Koziol of East Aurora. A son, Robert Stachowski, Jr. of Lancaster.  Ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was the brother of the late Edward Stachowski, Rose Wierzbicki and Alicia Potrzebowski.

Friends of the family are cordially invited to share their thoughts, condolences and fond memories with the family on Friday from 4-8pm at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 Bogue Ave., Batavia.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, 9:30am at Resurection Parish (St. Joseph Church). 

Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors.
