Carol M. Carney

Carol was born in Geneseo, New York on August 16, 1923 a daughter of the late Walter and Neva Barber Davis. She retired from Archway Cookies in Perry where she was their office manager. She was a member of the Brick Presbyterian Church in Perry. She enjoyed doing various crafts including tatting. She is preceded in death by her husband Cecil H. Carney who died in 2003; a daughter-in-law Kelly Carney; grandson Brett Demers; siblings Peg Orman, Iva Parnell and Walter Davis.

She is survived by a daughter: Cindy (David) Helmer of Warsaw, a son: Paul Carney of Perry, 4 granddaughters: Tara Demers, Sheila Donahue, Stephanie (Oren) Kauffman, and Angel Bray, 3 great grandchildren: McKenna Demers, Kylee and William Nolan IIII, a dear friend Raymond Kiley of Perry, along with several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call from 3:30-5:30 pm on Sunday November 18th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 N. Main St. Perry. Services will be held on Monday November 19th at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.

ANNA MARIE McCAHERA

Anna Marie McCahera, 79, of Batavia, died Saturday (Nov. 17, 2012) at Genesee County Nursing Home,

She was born in Batavia on January 29, 1933, a daughter of the late Samuel Sr. and Rose Marshall Patri.

She was a homemaker most of her life and a member of Resurrection Parish (St. Mary's Church).

Surviving are two daughters, Rita McCahera and Ann Marie McCahera both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Three sons, Michael McCahera, John McCahera Jr. both of Arizona and Joseph Fisk of Seattle, WA.  Brother and sister in law, Samuel Jr. and Mary Patri of Batavia. She was the sister of the late Norfe Patri.

Private Services will be conducted at the convenience of the family.

Laura Kowalik

Laura Kowalik, 97, of Batavia, died Tuesday (November 13, 2012) at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

She was born in Batavia on August 15, 1915, daughter of the late Michael and Frances Conforto.

Laura was employed by G.T.E. Sylvania in Batavia prior to her retirement in 1980 and was a member of Resurrection Parish. 

She was the wife of the late Raymond Kowalik, mother of the late Raymond Kowalik, Jr. and predeceased by a brother and several sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Reger of Salem VA.  Sisters, Antoinette Marshall of Batavia and Molly Jankowski of Largo, Fl.  Grandchildren, Michelle Butler, Kristina Lobello, Brian Reger, Kevin Reger and Jason Reger.  Nieces and nephews also survive.

No prior visitation.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday (November 17th) at 9:30am at Resurrection Parish (St. Mary’s site).  Entombment will be in St. Joseph Mausoleum.

Jerome E. Jazwiecki "Jerry"

Jerome E. Jazwiecki “Jerry”, 72, of Akron, died Tuesday (November 13, 2012) at Buffalo General Hospital.

He was born in Buffalo, NY on July 7, 1940, son of the late Valentine and Margaret Leach Jazwiecki.

Jerry was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and Past Commander of the L.L. Tillman Post American Legion in Akron.  He was a foreman at Whiting Roll-Up Door Co. in Akron prior to his retirement.

Surviving is his loving wife of 42 years, Jeanette Hudomint Jazwiecki of Akron.  Son, James (Jennifer) Jazwiecki of Akron.  Daughter, Dawn (Mark) Smith of Depew.  Grandchildren, Angela, Robert and Emily Jazwiecki, Brock and Camden Smith.  Brother, Val (Dorothy) Jazwiecki of Cheektowaga.  Sisters in-law, Arlene Jack of Clarence Center, Joan (Gene) Dziekan of Cape Vincent and Patricia Maxwell of Alden.  Brothers in-law, Dennis (Eunice) Hudomint  and Robert (Sandra) Hudomint, both of Akron.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Family and friends may gather to share memories and condolences on Tuesday (November 20th) from 4-8pm at the J. LEONARD MCNADREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 32 John St., Akron.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, 10am at St. Teresa of Avila  R.C. Church (Buell St., Akron). 

Interment with full military honors will be in St. Teresa’s Cemetery.

Jack D. McClurg

Jack was born in Perry, NY on July 11, 1935, a son of the late Dwight (Ruth Brown) McClurg. Jack was a graduate of Perry Central School, after graduation he enlisted with the US Army, he was a self-employed farmer for many years, after farming Jack worked and retired from Butler Construction in Perry. He enjoyed bowling, working outside whether it was mowing a yard or gardening and enjoyed walks with his Beloved Dog “Dolly”. He is preceded in death by a brother Robert McClurg.

He is survived by his wife: Carol (MacRae) McClurg who he married in 1957, a son: Shawn (Lori) McClurg of Elba, a daughter: Lisa (Joseph) Ferraro of Spencerport, 3 grandchildren: Aidan McClurg, Kayla and Audrey Butler, his dog: Dolly, 5 sisters: Betty White of West Palm Beach, Fla., Lois Taylor of Leicester, Lynn (Alvin) Wood of Perry, Barb Anderson of Batavia, Virginia (Edward) Culver of Sun City West, Az., 2 brothers: Don (Joan) McClurg of East Bethany and Larry (Ruthie) McClurg of Perry along with many nieces, nephews.

There will be no prior visitation. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place at Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.

Ruth C. Dutton

Ruth C. Dutton, 71 of Batavia died Monday November 12, 2012 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. She was born November 16, 1940 in Batavia to the late Kenneth (Bernice Parks) Bump. Mrs. Dutton was retired from Lewis Myers in Bergen. She enjoyed dancing, entertainment and reading. She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Her hobbies were her family and grandchildren along with traveling. She is predeceased by her husband Lloyd Dutton, Brother Richard Bump, Sisters Marlene Schultz and Beverly Weber.

She is survived by her fiancé John C. Ellis of Batavia; sons Thomas Dutton of Virginia, Mark Dutton of Batavia; daughters Shelly Duignan of Batavia and Vicki (Darrel) Harris of Caledonia. One brother William (Nelda) Bump of Texas; sisters Dorothy Myers of North Carolina, Lillian Turazzo of Newark and Jean Ferris of Oakfield, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren survive along with many nieces and nephews.

Delbert P. Howard

Delbert P. Howard, 93 of Batavia, went peacefully home to be with the Lord November 9, 2012 at the Villages of Orleans in Albion. He was born June 20, 1919 in Brockton, NY to the late Enos (Libby Brown) Howard. Mr. Howard was a United States Navy Veteran and served his country proudly in WWII. He was retired from GTE Sylvania and also ran Ben Del’s Donut shop in Alexander. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, the VFW and American Legion. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Howard cherished the time he spent camping with his family and had a real passion for his pet dogs. He is reunited with his beloved wife of 59 years Catherine (Paas) Howard who died in 2007; daughter Donna Howard Hickox; great-grandson Caleb Cere; sisters Marion Kessler; Doris Sixt; Lorraine Speed; and Helen Howard. 

He is survived by daughter Dawn (David) Sisson; son Delbert (Susan) Howard; both of Batavia; 4 grandchildren Kevin (Cheryl) McAllister; Daniel Howard; Heather Bibbins; Kailee Sisson; 3 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Helen A. Idzik

Helen A. Idzik, 81, of Richmond, VA, formerly of Oakfield, died Sunday (October 28, 2012) at the Johnston Willis Hospital in Richmond.

She was born in Oakfield on November 11, 1930, a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Balonek.

Helen was a cafeteria aide for Oakfield – Alabama Central School, prior to her retirement.  She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her loving family.  She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was the wife of the late J. Frank Idzik and mother of the late Gary Idzik.

Survivors include three daughters, Maryanne (Wayne) Altizer and Diane (James) Armstrong, both of Richmond, Debra (Robert) Cesarano of Oakfield.  Grandchildren, Robert and Kristina Cesarano, Joshua Altizer, Sarah and Matthew Armstrong.  Sister, Gladys Kedzierski of Batavia. Brother, Walter Balonek of Elba.  Several nieces and nephews also survive. 

She was the sister of the late Joseph, Frank and John Balonek and Ann Odre.

No prior visitation.  Friends and family may attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday (November 10th) at 10am at St. Padre Pio Parish (Oakfield site) 56 Maple Ave., Oakfield.  Interment will be in St. Cecelia’s Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the family for distribution to various charities.

Shirley Boyd

Shirley Boyd, 88, of LeRoy, died Wednesday (November 7, 2012) at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

She was born in Batavia, NY on November 24, 1923 to the late James M. and Sybil Blossom Smith.

She worked for J.C. Penny’s department store in Rochester prior to her retirement.

Shirley was the wife of the late Robert Boyd who died in 2001 and sister of the late Betty Gartley.

Survivors include one son, Paul (Jane) Boyd of Penn Yan. Three daughters, Cheryl (Michael) Schrader of Batavia, Christine (James) Hertzog of Webster and Robin (Ronald) Glazier of Byron.  Nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Christopher) Rollins, Scott (Christine) Schrader, Michael (Julia) Boyd, Daniel (Julie) Boyd, Marnie (Scott) Baker, Matthew (Kathleen) Glazier, Ryan (Colleen) Glazier, Benjamin Hertzog and Emily Hertzog.  Also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Sunday (November 11th) from 2:15pm – 3:00pm at the Byron Presbyterian Church, 6293 W. Main St., Byron.  A memorial service will follow at 3pm.

Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.

Helen Tomaselli

Helen Tomaselli, 92, of Batavia, died Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2012) at Genesee County Nursing Home.  She was born in Lancaster, NY on June 5, 1920 a daughter of the late Stanley and Scholastica Olewinska Cichocki.

She was the wife of George A. Tomaselli Sr. who died in 1989.  For over 10 years, she was employed by Doehler Jarvis Co, Division of National Lead as a die cast inspector.  Her memberships include Ascension Parish, the Altar and Rosary Society and the Apostleship of Prayer.

Surviving are three sons: George A Tomaselli Jr.(Maxine Parada) of Medina, Samuel (Nancy) Tomaselli of Batavia, James Tomaselli (Connie Chatley) of E. Pembroke, Daughter, Georginne (Jack) Majerus of Batavia. Son in law, Irvin Bartz of Batavia.  Eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  Brother, John (Elaine) Cichocki of Akron and sister in law Barbara Cichocki of Medina. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She is the mother of the late Diane Bartz who died in 2011, mother in law of the late Joann Tomaselli who died in 2000,  grandmother of the late Risa Helene Bartz and Richard Allen Tomaselli and sister of the late Agnes Spiotta, Stephen Cichocki, Bertha Kopcieowski, Antonia Nayman, Sophie Adamczyk, Michael and Walter Cichocki.

Friends of the family are cordially invited to share their thoughts, condolences and fond memories with the family at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC., 2 BOGUE AVE., BATAVIA on Friday from 4 - 8pm. MICHAEL J. SHULTZ

Michael J. Shultz, age 48, of Oberlin, LA formerly of Batavia, NY, died Monday November 5, 2012 at CHRISTUS ST. PATRICK Hospital in Lake Charles, LA. He was born March 11, 1964 in Batavia, a son of Alan Shultz of Byron and the late Mary (Hale) Shultz, also prceeded in death by his brother Billy Shultz.

     Michael was a member and regularly attended the City Church before he moved to Louisiana and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

     Surviving along with his father, a sister, Jodi (Doug) Russo of Batavia; brothers, John (Debbie) Shultz of LeRoy, Jeff (Diane) Shultz of Batavia and Terry (Felicia) Shultz of NC; his companion with whom he resided, Vanessa Victorian of LA along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Edward L. King

Edward L. King, 81of Oakfield, died October 27, 2012 peacefully at his home. He was born January 9, 1931 in Tide, PA to the late Lowry J. (Alice L.) King. Mr. King was a United States Air Force Veteran and served his country proudly for 14 years. He was retired from US Gypsum in Oakfield and was a member of the West Barre United Methodist Church. Ed loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Eileen J. (Hockenberry) King who passed in 2008; two sisters Della Guiste and Romayne Wheeler.

He is survived by sons Edward (Marlene), Ronald (Ava) King both of Batavia; daughters Kathy (Edward) Kastelic, Sharon King both of Oakfield; Robin (Tom Baker) Kirkum of Alabama; Tammy King of Oakfield; grandchildren Candy (Chris) Manes; Michelle (Ralph) Esten; Edward (Carie) Kastelic; Ritchie (Jennifer) Kirkum; Jason and Jared Kirkum; Megan, Christine, Brian, Edward (Stephanie) King; Deanna (David) Bellavia; Lisa (Brad) Mazur; 15 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Ferris B. Hazlett II

Ferris B. Hazlett II, 77 of Batavia died Saturday October 27, 2012 at the Crossroads House in Batavia. He was born October 5, 1935 in Sabinsville, PA to the late Ferris B. (Marie McCann) Hazlett. Mr. Hazlett was retired from Ausmus Trucking in Tonawanda. He was a longtime member of St. James Episcopal Church. Ferris loved auto racing especially NASCAR, he was an avid L.A. Dodgers fan, and loved camping at Silver Lake. He was predeceased by his wife of Carole (Penders) Hazlett; a brother Edwin Hazlett; sisters Elizabeth Ferris, Margaret Ackler and Sally Devling.

He is survived by sons Ferris B. (Bonnie) Hazlett III of E. Bethany; Kenneth (Darlene Higgins), Thomas (Cathi) Hazlett both of Batavia; daughters Sheryl Hazlett, Grace (Richard) Stewart, Michelle Hazlett all of Batavia; Lisa (Robert) Doran of Pavilion; brother Robert (Betty) Hazlett of Elkland, PA; sister Mary (Jerry) Swartz of Alleghany; sister-in-law Marcia Hazlett of Holand, NY; cherished grandchildren Nicole, Angelique, Erica, Shawn, Kelli, Jessica, Jordyn, Caroline, Will and Rebecca, great-grandchildren Paige, Brynn and Lloyd; proud owner of Tasker the dog along with many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Clayton G. Schwab

Clayton G. Schwab, 66, of Elma, NY and formerly of Batavia, died Wednesday (October 24, 2012) at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Batavia, NY on April 10, 1946, a son of the late Loren Schwab and Thelma Wagner Schwab of Batavia.

Clayton was a Vietnam Veteran, having served with the U.S. Army Green Berets Special Forces. He was a former Deputy Sheriff for Genesee County and was a Vascular Sales Representative for Unetixs Vascular, prior to his retirement.

Mr. Schwab was an avid hunter and enjoyed storytelling, traveling and riding his motorcycle.  He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church in Ohio, where he traveled on several mission trips.   Clayton and his wife also attended The Chapel in Getzville, NY.  But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving besides his mother, is his wife of 22 years, Beverly Ehrhardt Schwab of Elma. Daughter, Tamara Boothe of Florida. Grandchildren, Leo Schwab, Shona (Matthew) Ramos and Loren Clayton Schwab. Great-granddaughter, Abrianna. God children, Samantha, Brittney and Nicholas Meek. Sisters, Bonnie Morgan of Batavia and Kathleen Sparks of Williamson, NY. Father in-law and mother in-law, Robert and Martha Ehrhardt of North Chili, NY.  Also survived by several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Friends may gather to share memories and condolences with the family on Sunday (October 28th) from 2-5pm at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 Bogue Ave., Batavia, where services will be Monday at 11am, officiated by Pastor Lud Golz.

Interment with full military honors will be in North Byron Cemetery.

Thomas A. Sabo

Thomas A. Sabo, 55, of Beaver, Pennsylvania, died October 23, 2012 after a brief illness. The last weeks of Tom’s life were spent in Katy, Texas, in the home of his sister Lynn (Robert) Guzik.  He was under hospice care while in Texas with his mother and sisters embracing him with love and care. He had the joy of being surrounded by his beloved nieces.

Mr. Sabo was born February 17, 1957 in Beaver, Pennsylvania, the son of Jean Henderson and the late Thomas C. Sabo. Tom spent most of his life employed as a mechanical engineer. He was a kind, intelligent, good man with a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor. He made us laugh many times during his last days. He spent his life studying the Bible and worshipping the Lord. If you had the pleasure of meeting him, you loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, the late Thomas C. Sabo.

In addition to his mother Jean Henderson, Tom is survived by sisters Joanne (James) Pero of Batavia, NY.,  Mary (Joseph) Patton of Allentown, Pa., Lynn ( Robert) Guzik of Katy, Texas, and nephews and nieces Alecia (Kaus), Jennifer (Sullivan), Zachary and James Pero, Jenny, Thomas and Anna Patton and Claire and Leah Guzik. He is also survived by many wonderful cousins and friends.

A service in celebration of his life will be held on November 23, 2012 in Beaver, Pennsylvania.  Details will follow.
