Stanley was born in Castile, New York on April 7, 1914 a son of the late Frank and Artella Lathrop MacDonald. Stanley was a graduate of Perry High School and Rochester Institute of Technology. He worked for many years on his father’s family farm in Castile and the former Perry Knitting Mill before going to Eastman Kodak. He worked for Eastman Kodak for 36 years as a supervisor of warehousing retiring in 1979 at the age of 65.He was a former member of the Parkminster Presbyterian Church in Chili. He liked to travel , enjoyed working and enjoyed living on Silver Lake. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy (Burns) MacDonald who died on December 9, 2007, and a sister Gladys Mimm.

He is survived by a son John “Jack” MacDonald of Castile, 1 daughter: Marcia (Mayeed) Rahman of Pittsford, NY, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Antoinette F. Szczesny “Toni” “Tosh”, 90 of Batavia, died Saturday (January 28, 2012) at Hospice of Buffalo.  She was born in Batavia on January 10, 1922, daughter of  the late John and Louise Hubinska Wujcik.

She was a teacher, social worker, sales clerk and homemaker. Antoinette received a B.A. degree from William Smith College in 1945 and a M.A. degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in 1947. She taught school in Pavilion, DeRuyter and was a substitute teacher in the Batavia School District and at Notre Dame High School. Antoinette was a Supervisor of Public Welfare in the Genesee County Dept. of Social Services from 1962 until her retirement in 1986. She was also a sales clerk in the Enterprise Clothing Store, a family owned store, until it’s closing in 1986.

Antoinette was a member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society, the Apostleship of Prayer and was chairman of the Bishops Committee.  She was the leader of the Sacred Heart Bible Study for the past 20 years and was a member of the Notre Dame Prayer Group, the Legion of Honor in the Polish Falconettes and in charge of the walking program for the Falconettes, past member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court St. Rita in St. Mary’s Church and a member of Women’s Aglow, member of the Genesee County Retired Educators, New York State Retired Teachers Assoc., Business and Professional Women and the Retirees of the Business and Professional Women.  She was also a member of both the Independent Assoc. of Retired People and AARP. She was a past member of the American Assoc. of University Women and was an RSVP volunteer in both the Literacy and Step Programs.

Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Joseph Szczesny, whom she married Nov. 25, 1948.  Four sons, Thomas (Frances) Szczesny of Marlboro, N.J., Rev. Walter J. Szczesny of East Aurora, NY, Timothy (Donna) Szczesny of Binghamton and Joseph (Allison) Szczesny of Minot, ME. Two daughters, Mary (Van) Rodenhizer of Oakfield and Veronica (Jerzy) Ryskiewicz of Staten Island.  Seven grandchildren, Spencer, Alex, Laura and Timothy Szczesny, Kathryn Rodenhizer, Paula and Thomas Ryszkiewicz.  Three sisters in-law, Helen Fortunato, Veronica DiFilippo and Rose Szczesny.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Estelle Szulgit, Louise Wujcik, Helen King, John (Fran) Wujcik and Eugene (Florence) Wujcik.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8pm at Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart Church), where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 9:30am.  Burial will follow in St. Cecilia Cemetery in Oakfield.

Gloria R. Watts, 82 of Batavia, died January 17, 2012 at Crossroads House in Batavia. She was born April 30, 1929 in Bordino, NY to the late Percy Richards and the late Elizabeth Ostrander.    Mrs. Watts worked for many years as a Coordination Specialist for the United States Army at Fort Drum in Watertown, NY. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Oakfield United Methodist Church, and the church choir. She was a very adventurous woman that loved to scuba dive. She is preceded in death by her husbands Richard Hicks, Robert Watts, sister Catherine Stevens.     

She is survived by two daughters Michele (Michael) Bielski of Oakfield; Kathleen (Gustave) Grossman of Oakfield; brother Darwin (Rosemary) Richards of FL; brother-in-law John Stevens of Rochester; 5 grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Baby Matusak, died January 21, 2011 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. Born in Warsaw, NY on January 21, 2012. Born to Matt Troisi of Silver Lake and Jolene Matusak of Silver Lake. Preceded in death by maternal grandmother Cheryl Matusak (2006).

Age 95, of Oakfield, died peacefully Sunday evening January 22, 2012 at her home under the care of her loving family and Hospice. She was born February 18, 1916 in LeRoy, NY daughter of the late Louis & Josephine (Andalora) Baglio, also preceded in death by her beloved husband Samuel Forti in 2005; sisters Grace Baglio, Jennie Paladino, Josephine Maida, Mary Perry and a brother Frank Baglio. Mrs. Forti, is a longtime and the oldest member of St. Padre Pio Parish, former member of the Bishop's Committee for Christian Home and Family in the Diocese of Buffalo, welcoming families. In early years she was employed by the Edith Hartwell Clinic and the Jello Plant in LeRoy, also the E.N. Rowell Box Factory & JJ Newberry Co. in Batavia until her retirement in 1972.

Surviving are her loving children Joan (Art) Cichowski of Webster, Elaine Forti of Oakfield, Carol (Jim) Wigton of Rochester and David (Lorraine) Forti of Oakfield; sisters Rose Wallace, Carmen Cintorino, and Marion Ricci all of Batavia; brother-in-law Ralph Cintorino of Batavia; sisters-in-law Betty Forti of LeRoy, Grace Forti of St. Louis; 5 grandchildren Karen (Pasi) Cichowski-Janne, Mark (Shawn) Cichowski, Heather (Jeremy) Shaw, Brian (Marsha) Wigton & Andrew (Kristi) Wigton; 10 great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Donald C. Britt, 75, of Byron, died Saturday (January 21, 2012) at the United Memorial Medical Center.

Mr. Britt was born January 28, 1936 in Batavia, a son of the late Gerald and Mary (Chapin) Britt.

Mr. Britt was a retired farmer and former partner at L-Brooke Farms in Byron.  Mr. Britt was a partner with G.F. Britt and Sons and also Byron Enterprises (now Oxbo International).  He served as a director for ProFac Cooperative. Don was a former Byron Town Supervisor and served on the Byron Town Board. He served on the Board of Directors for Cornell Cooperative Extension and NYS Farm Bureau. He was a past vice moderator for the Genesee Valley Presbytery and also a board member of the Genesee Orleans Ministry of Concern.  He was a private pilot and the rarest of breeds, a liberal republican!

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Britt of Byron; a daughter, Kim (Mark) Dewey of Byron; a son, Donald B. (Chrystal) Britt of Byron; five grandchildren, Meghan Dewey of Chicago, Illinois, Sarah Dewey of Montclair, New Jersey, Nathan Dewey of Penfield, Benjamin Britt of Byron and Kylie Britt of Byron; a sister, Jane (John) Porter of Valley Center, California, a sister-in-law, June (Linderman) Britt of Fremont, Michigan, and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his brother, Gerald Britt.  

Calling hours are Tuesday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia.  Services will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Byron Presbyterian Church, 6293 West Main, Byron.  A reception will be held immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.      Age 77, of Batavia, formerly of Pawling, New York, died Thursday evening January 19, 2012 at Strong Memorial Hospital. She was born December 3, 1934 in Poughkeepsie, New York daughter of the late James & Irene (Fitzpatrick) Clark. She was employed for many years by IBM and was a member of St. John's Parish in Pawling.

     She is survived by her beloved husband Charles R. Utter Jr. of Batavia; loving children James (Beth) Utter of Poughkeepsie,NY, Charles (Jennifer) Utter of Upton, MA, Karen (John) Cima of Corfu and Anne (Dan) Pruzan of Redwood City, CA; a sister Jean Clark of Pawling, NY along with 5 grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

Darryl Tyndell, 40 of LeRoy, died January 16, 2012 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born August 18, 1971 in Washington DC to Henrietta (Robert Wise) Tyndell of Brockport. Darryl was a member of Living Waters Church in LeRoy.

Douglas R. Miller, 53 of Perry, died peacefully at his home on January 17, 2012. He was born June 28, 1958 in Buffalo to the late Norman J. Miller (2003) and Irene (Kuhn) Miller of Cowlesville. Doug got his Masters Degree from Buffalo State College and then went on to teach technology at Letchworth Central School. He had a passion for sports and coached many sports at Letchworth including Jr. High Basketball from 1984-86, head Girls Track from 84-89, assistant Girls Soccer from 85-87, Jr. High Track from 87-89, assistant Modified Football 89-90 then Head Coach from 90-92, JV Boys Basketball 90-91, Head Varsity Football Coach from 1992-2001 receiving Coach of the Year every year from 1994-1998, mini Perry Blaze Girls Softball, organized and coached Perry Girls Little League Softball, First Base Coach this past summer for the Rochester Revenge Softball Team, and was currently keeping stats for the Perry Varsity Girls Basketball Team. Doug was a Driver Education Instructor at Letchworth from 1987-2000, in Warsaw from 2001-2010, and gave countless 5 hour pre-licensing courses all over the area. He was a former member of St. Joseph’s Church in Perry. Doug is preceded in death by a brother Robert Miller.  

He is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen (Kramell) Miller married August 11, 1990 of Perry; daughters Erika Lynn Miller of Alfred University; Ashley Ann Miller of Perry; mother Irene (Kuhn) Miller of Cowlesville; sister Linda (Jeff) Papke of Angola; brothers Paul (Lisa Pritchard) Miller of Oakfield; Thomas Miller of Cowlesville; mother-in-law Nancy (David Spencer) Kramell of Pavilion; brothers-in-law David (Tina) Kramell, Dan (Nadine) Kramell both of Perry; sister-in-law Kristina (Jake Gordon) Schofield of Queens Creek, AZ along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mildred B. Cina, 88 of Batavia, died January 16, 2012 at the Genesee County Nursing Home in Batavia. She was born March 11, 1923  in Batavia to the late Salvatore Cina and the late Paulene Columbo. Ms. Cina worked for 42 years at the VA Medical Center in Batavia and also volunteered at the VA and St. Jerome’s Hospital after her retirement. She was a member of Ascension Parish-St. Anthony’s Church, the Altar & Rosary Society, St. Jerome’s Hospital Guild and taught church school at St. Anthony’s School.  She is preceded in death by her brother Charles Cina.
                                                                                                                        
Ms. Cina is survived by her aunt Nancy (Samuel) Ficarella of Batavia; cousin James (Kim) Ficarella of Batavia, who helped her greatly in her later years along with many other cousins.

Frederick J. Nichols, 83 of Corfu died January 16, 2012 at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia. He was born March 6, 1928 in Medina, NY to the late Frederick H. ((Louise L. Lennox) Nichols. Mr. Nichols worked 42 years for Niagara Mohawk as a General Line Foreman. He was a WWII Army Veteran, member of the Cornerstone Church in East Pembroke, and an antique car collector. He is preceded in death by brothers Cliff, Robert, and Francis Nichols; sisters Eleanor Myntti, Bonalyn Dombrowski, and Ethel Hayes.   

He is survived by his beloved wife Virginia Nichols of Corfu; sons Roger (Lorna) of CO; Mark of Corfu; Steven (Cheryl) Nichols of Windermere, FL; brother Richard Nichols of N. Collins; sisters Esther Halstead of NV; Mae Kopper of Alexander; Monica (Frank) Neindorf of FL; 4 grandchildren Brooke (Gabe) Milter, Lindsay (John) Carr, Shelby (Shawn) Gibbons, Makaila Nichols, 3 great-grandchildren Colby, Bailey and Jayden along with many nieces and nephews.

Age 89, of Batavia, died peacefully Friday morning January 13, 2012 at United Memorial Medical Center with his beloved daughter Cheryl at his side.

He was born in Batavia, August 7, 1922, the fifth of ten children of the late John and Frances (Wozniak) Kowalik. he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruth (Williams) Kowalik in 2007, sisters Irene Kulikowski, Connie Brazzell, Delores Slater, and brothers Raymond & Jerome Kowalik.

John was a World War II Navy Veteran of the Bombing Squad 151, Pacific Theater. He was awarded the New York State Conspicuous Service Cross, Distinguished Flying Cross, American Campaign, World War II Victory, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, and Air medals.

John retired from Dohler-Jarvis, and worked for the US Census Bureau. He belonged to Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart), Holy Name Society, Sacred Heart 20 Week Club, Polish Falcons Nest #493, where he started the Polish Falcons Bowling League, Polish Civic Club, life member of VFW and D.A.V., Dohler-Jarvis Quarter Century Club, former President of the Dohler-Jarvis retirees, and a member of the former Moose, Elks, and Saint Nicks Clubs; and a lifelong member, former trustee, and a member of parish council, of Sacred Heart Church. John also played baseball for the Polish Falcons. John was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt, trap, and fish, bowler, and loved the NY Yankees, playing poker and Bingo, traveling to Seneca Casinos, and wintering in Bradenton, FL.

He leaves behind his daughter Cheryl Kowalik, and daughter by affection Barbara Matarazzo both from Batavia, sisters Barbara Alvut of Batavia, Virginia Kowalik of Rochester, brothers Robert (Betty) Kowalik of Webster, and Arthur (Beverly) Kowalik of N. Chili, sisters-in-law Laura Kowalik, Florence Williams both of Batavia, brothers-in-law Donald Brazzell of Medina, Larry (Lorraine Nolan) Williams, Sister-in-law Terry Williams of Attica, and Arthur (Cathy) Williams all of Batavia, several nieces and nephews, and loving and caring friends.

Myron R. “Breezy” Brasky, Sr., 84 of Batavia, died peacefully Sunday (January 15, 2012) at his residence with his loving wife and children by his side.

He was born in Batavia on February 15, 1927, a son of the late Myron A. and Rose Kapusciarz Brzeczkowski.

 Myron was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and the Korean War.  After his service to his country he was a draftsman for Graham Manufacturing Co. in Batavia for 45 years until his retirement.  He was a member of the Sacred Heart Holy Name Society, Polish Falcons Nest #493, VFW Veness Strollo Post and the former St. Nicholas Social Club.  Myron enjoyed sports, especially tennis, racquetball, softball and was a fan of the Buffalo Bills, New York Yankees and Batavia Blue Devils Basketball.  He was also a parishioner of Ascension Parish and volunteered at the church lawn fete french fry stand for several years.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Alice Gibbons Brasky of Batavia, proprietor of The Dancing Place Dance Studio and The Dancewear Outlet. Two daughters, Patricia (John) Chadwick of Batavia and Nancy (James) Schmieder of Springwater, NY. A son, Buddy Brasky of Batavia.  Grandchildren, T.J., Jenilee and David Hagen, Adam, Alex and Jake Brasky, Eric Hiscutt, Stacie (Mike) Beccaria, Gretchen (Sam) Fire, Josh and Laura Schmieder.  One great-grandchild, Cole Hiscutt.  Two sisters, Fran (Herb) Oakes and Eleanor (Loren) Ferruci.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Delores Mitchell.

There will be no prior visitation.  Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday (January 19th), 9:30am at Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart Church).  Burial will be in the spring at St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors.

Batavia- Mrs. Barbara A. (Gravanda) Adams, age 71, loving mother and wife, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at URMC Palliative Care Unit.

Mrs. Adams was born November 14, 1940 in Batavia, a daughter of the late John and Marion Gentile Gravanda.

She was a member of Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph's Church.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Merle Adams and two children, David Adams of Batavia and Gina Marie Adams (fiancé Jim Lanson) of Webster; five grandchildren, Riley, Kasey, Jonathan, Matthew and Sarah. She also leaves behind five brothers and sisters,  Connie DiAntonio and Philomena Gravanda, both of Batavia, Vincent "Jim" Gravanda of LeRoy and John Gravante and Irene Lillis, both of  Batavia. There are also several loving nieces and nephews along with the family’s dear and close friend Lisa D’Aurizio.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Ida Spiotta, Katherine Zaccarella, Mary Eckelberger and brothers, Nicholas, John, Fred and Tony Gravanda.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street. Prayers at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. Entombment will be in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum.

     Age 87, of Batavia, died peacefully Thursday morning January 12, 2012 in the Copley @ Stoughton Nursing Care Center in Stoughton, MA. She was born January 22, 1924 in Niagara Falls, NY daughter of the late Karl L. & Esther E. (Nordstrom) Nyquist, also preceded in death by her husband Elwin "Ellie" Rice in 2010 and a sister Esther M. Scoins. A lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mrs. Rice was a 1941 graduate of Oakfield High School. She served from 1983 to 1998 as the Elections Commissioner for the Genesee County Board of Elections and also as secretary for the Genesee County Republican Party. Lillian followed politics closely, was always up on current events and was an avid football fan.

     Surviving are her beloved children Richard (Margaret) Rice of Sharon, MA and Karen Anne (Joseph) DeLeo of Ashburn Farm, VA; sister Gertrude Beswick of Batavia; grandchildren Lucas & Katherine along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

     Family and friends may visit from 2-3:00 PM on Monday January 16 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road 14020 where Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 PM.
