Robert T. Diemoz, born 4/26/37 in a small farmhouse in Alexander to the late Thomas and Pearl (Goodman) Diemoz passed peacefully Saturday Jan 23 surrounded by family in the home and legacy he leaves them, on the land he so cherished.

Bob lived in Alexander and Darien his entire life, mostly in the home he built 62 years ago.  Bob not only was a retired Correction officer but was known to many for his electric and insulation business.  He was also a past president of the Alexander School Board.  He enjoying traveling with his wife Frances, especially their annual trip to Myrtle Beach where they made many friends. He was also an avid Yankees and Bills fan. 

Bob was married to Frances Quinn for 59 years when she passed in 2017.  He is survived by his three children, Ann (John) Lavrincik (of Attica), Michael (Mary Ann) Diemoz (of Darien), Douglas (Kimberly Belle) Diemoz of CA, along with his grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Caudill, Daniel (Stacey) Smith, Joel (Liz) Diemoz, Kayla (Jeremy) Diemoz, Kimberly (Kevin) Hoffman, Emma and Grace Diemoz, and step-grandsons, Cody and Adam Lavrincik.  Also, seven great grandchildren,  a sister, Norene (Wayne) Kilburn of CT and a sister in law, Nancy (Wayne) Newton of Batavia in addition to many nieces and nephews.   He was predeceased by his in-laws, Albert and Rose Marie Quinn and brother in law William Quinn.

There will be no prior calling hours. Services will be held privately for the family. Mr. Diemoz will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery, Attica.

Francis Dwyer, 95, of Batavia, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Batavia.

He was born December 8, 1925 in Venice Center, NY, a son of the late John and Lillian (Miles) Dwyer.

Francis was a veteran serving with the United States Army and also a farmer.

Surviving are his family and friends.

Francis's military honors will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday at St. Joseph's Mausoleum, 532 Ellicott Street Road in Batavia.

William "Dennis" Barren, 73, of Batavia, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at home under the care of his family.

William was born May 16, 1947, in Buffalo, a son of the late William and Marjorie (Harrington) Barren.

He was a member of the City Church in Batavia and a 15-year member of the Attica Fire Department.  William was a welder/fabricator at Graham Corporation in Batavia.  He will be remembered as a genuine and gentle person, who would always let you know that "I've got a tool for that."

Surviving are his wife, Tammy (Ferraro) Barren of Batavia; children, William Barren of West Seneca, Eric (Olivia) Barren of Bennington, Courtney (fiancé Colin Arthur) Barren of North Chili and Lisa Bucierka of Buffalo; grandchildren, Katie, Riley, Owen, Ileana, Eve, Amanda, William and Jillian; sisters, Diane (Orrin) Catlin of Cheektowaga and Debra (Russell) Burch of Buffalo and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Larson.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street in Batavia.  William's funeral services will be held privately.

Verna M. Hall, 92 of Basom, passed away peacefully Friday (January 22, 2021) at Sisters of Charity Hospital St. Joseph Campus, Cheektowaga, NY.

She was born September 1, 1928 in Alabama, NY, a daughter of the late Fred and Sarah Warner Gilbert.

Verna was employed by Klotzbach Egg Farm prior to her retirement. She enjoyed country music and was known to many about her cooking greatness. She will be truly missed by those who knew her loving heart.

She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd W. Hall who passed away August 6, 2000 and daughter, Sandra R. MacRae who passed away January 20, 2001.

Survivors include her son, David “Boots” (Betty) Hall of Batavia. Son in-law, John “Ian” (Margot) MacRae of Canada. Grandchildren, Brett (Loni) Hall, Teri (Randy) Tamburlin, Robert (De-Anna) MacRae, Shawn (Kim) MacRae and Sheri MacRae. Sister, Jane Hall. Also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Elizabeth M. Miller, 63 of Warsaw, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born June 10, 1957 in Batavia to Richard (Patricia Bartlett) Gdanice of Basom. She is preceded in death by her father-in-law Bruce Miller.

Liz worked for many years at Fisher Price and was currently working at Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. She was an avid outdoorswoman that loved hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and gardening. Liz is a member of Hawkeye Bowman Archery Club and used to be active with Attica Rodeo Association.  

She is survived by her beloved husband Curt A. Miller of Warsaw, children, Jessica (Justin) Wheeler of Randolph, Megan (Jon) Nelson of Eldred, PA, Dillon Miller of Warsaw, siblings, Rick Gdanice of Akron, Barbara (Robert) Adams-Elberton of GA, mother-in-law Linda E. Miller of Kendall, brother-in-law Vernon (Amy) Miller of Medina, 6 grandchildren, Hannah, Cali Wheeler, Angelina Walker, Gabrielle, Buddy Long, Bentley Nelson, along with several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 4 to 8 PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street, Batavia, New York 14020. A private Graveside Ceremony will be held for the family. She will be laid to rest at Millville Cemetery, Medina.

Jean S. Lamoureux  ~  beloved wife, mother, sister and friend to many. At age 78 Jean went home to be with our Lord and Saviour on Friday, January, 22, 2021, at Charlotte House Comfort Care in North Java, New York.

Mrs. Lamoureux (endearingly called by her loving husband of 59 years) was born in Springfield, Vermont February 1st, 1942.  She was the daughter of George and Belle Senecal of Whiting, Vermont.  She married Roger J. Lamoureux  September 21, 1962. They made their home in Attica, New York in 1967 with their then 2 year old daughter.

Surviving is her husband Roger J Lamoureux of Attica and daughter, Suzanne (Daniel) Lamoureux - Lacey of Warsaw, New York; her 3 brothers David (Barbara) Senecal of Brunswisk, Maine, Ralph (Janet) Senecal of Queensbury, New York and Paul (Kathy) Senecal of Cromwell, Connecticut. Also, several nieces, nephews and many cousins. 

Mrs. Lamoureux was an honor student at Brandon high-school and attended Castleton State College. She had a love of gardening (especially roses) and feeding her bluebirds. She was an avid reader and had a special love for reading God’s Word. She was the happiest spending time with her family and especially enjoyed the Holidays with her loved ones in Vermont. She was a beautiful and faithful servant of the Lord and looked forward to spending eternity with Him and her loved ones.

Psalm 91:1-2 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

LeRoy ~ Gail Ann Schirmer, age 71, of Lake Street, passed away on Saturday (January 16, 2021) at Strong Memorial Hospital.

     She was born October 6, 1949 in Rochester, N.Y., a daughter of the late Clarence and Clara Kaczmarkiewicz Schirmer.

     Gail will be remembered as a very loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother.  She was a graduate of the Genesee Community College Nursing Program and worked as a LPN for the Batavia VA Medical Center.

     She is survived by her children, Gene David Ray of PA and Michael (Melissa) Smith of LeRoy; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her daughter, Debbi Ray Ballard on March 8, 2020.

     Services will be at the convenience of the family.

Oakfield - Edward M. Tanner, 64 of Oakfield,  passed away on Thursday, (January 14, 2021) at Rochester General Hospital.

Mr. Tanner was born April 29, 1956 in Batavia, a son of the late William and LaRue (Paul) Tanner.

He enjoyed collecting baseball cards, reading, and watching sports.

Ed is survived by a brother, Milton (Debbie) Tanner of Bath.

He is preceded in death by siblings, Michael Tanner, Teresa Tanner, and Regina Tanner.

There will be no visitation. Edward 's Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, (January 23, 202) from Grace Bible Baptist Church, 6875 East William Street Ext. in Bath.  Burial will be in Cary Cemetery in Oakfield.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Patricia Ridley, 79 of LeRoy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (January 19, 2021) at LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

She was born May 23, 1941 in Batavia, NY, a daughter of the late Gerald and Arline Hyback Ridley.

Patricia enjoyed watching criminal investigative tv shows, soap operas and loved socializing. She was a member of St. Marks Church in LeRoy and enjoyed singing in the choir. She had a smile for everyone and made you laugh. Pat was a very special person who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her sister, Karen (Ridley) Cass of Batavia. Nephew, Matt (Katherine Lefler) Reamer. Niece, Melissa (Ryan) Gaebler. Great-nieces, Alexis Reamer and Jade Gaebler. Also survived by a special cousin, Sharon (Paul) White.

Churchville - Jean  E.  Mason, age 82,  of Churchville  passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Mason was born Friday, September 23rd, 1938 in Rochester, New York a daughter of the late Alan Feck and Elsa Freitag Feck.

A member of the Churchville United Methodist Church, she enjoyed square dancing, riding snowmobiles and tending to her gardens.

Surviving are husband of 63 years, Gerald H. Mason; her children; Bonnie Farley of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Margaret (Jim) Suter and Alan (Barb) Mason of Churchville and David (Eilene) Mason of Bergen; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; her brother, Thomas (Carolyn) Feck of Maryland, and her sister-in-law, Janet Allyn of Maryland. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

 She is predeceased by her grandson, Kevin Mason and her siblings, Robert Feck and Anne Palmer

There are no prior visiting hours.  Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. She will be laid to rest in Creekside Cemetery, Churchville. Arthur A. Cummings, 90, of Corfu, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, at LeRoy Village Green from complications due to Covid 19. He was born on Nov. 3, 1930, in Darien, to the late Clarence and Beatrice (Hale) Cummings. He was the oldest of five, and is preceded in death by brothers, Robert Cummings, Richard Cummings, and sister Audrey Reiss. Also preceded in death by daughter, Terry Merritt Collins of North Carolina.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Marion (Dusel) Cummings, also a resident at LeRoy Village Green; and daughters, Barbara (Jay) Terkel of Corfu, Carol (Bill) Waldon of New Hampshire, Lori (Paul) Embt of Pavilion; a brother, Thomas Cummings of Elba; and 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Art is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Arthur spent his early years working on his grandparent’s farm, and then he worked at Sweeney Chevrolet as an automotive detailer. After retiring, he enjoyed working part time at IGA in Corfu to keep active. Arthur enjoyed attending church and socializing at the coffee hour afterwards. Arthur also enjoyed being outside and riding on his John Deere mower, and taking care of his yard. It was not unusual to see Arthur going down the road on his John Deere to mow a neighbor’s lawn. Arthur was an avid bowler and a lifetime member of the Corfu Volunteer Fire Department. The family would like to thank the staff of LeRoy Village Green that took such loving care of Arthur and our family during this difficult time.

There will be a celebration of life for the family at a later date. Brian F. Wilson, 43 of Varysburg, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021. He was born on January 13, 1978 in Batavia to Ann (Haynes) Wilson and the late Roger Wilson. 

Brian worked at AJ’s Towing and then worked at Walmart in Warsaw. He was a past member of Attica Fire Department, current member of Attica Fire Department Exempts and Varysburg Fire Department Auxiliary. Brian was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Attica. He was also very involved with the Attica Band.  

Brian is survived by his sons Brian and Cameron, siblings Roger (Dawn) Wilson II, Michele Lovell, Gary Wilson, girlfriend Marcia M. Robinson, her children, Veronica Robinson, Cody Bang, 4 nieces, along with aunts, uncles and cousins.

Phillip Kroft Jr., 33, formerly of Batavia passed away unexpectedly on October 29, 2020. He was born in York, PA on September 29, 1987, the beloved son of Donna Kroft of Batavia and Phillip Kroft Sr. He is predeceased by his brother; Shawn Kern

In addition to his parents, Phillip will be dearly missed by his children; Shawna Semar and Tiffany Lewis; brothers and sisters Dawn Kern of Batavia, Ben Kroft, Nicki Kroft and Lizzy Kroft of Felton, PA.

He was born and resided in York, PA. for several years where he grew up with his beloved family members; Tommy, Cory and Dalton Tussing, who will all miss Phillip very much.

Phillip has been cremated and brought home to his mother. At this time, there will be no Services.

Vincent E.  Squire, 98, of Batavia, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at United Memorial Medical Center.

Vincent was born April 8, 1922 in Wethersfield, a son of the late Ernest V. and Helen (Hackett) Squire.

Vincent owned V. Squire & Sons Construction.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, tinkering around and being outside, especially gardening, working on his flowers and mowing the lawn.   

Surviving are his children, Jean (Sam) Tambe of Oakfield, Randy (Nancy) Squire of Batavia, Tim (Cheryl) Squire of Bergen and Lori DiFilippo of Batavia; grandchildren, Jay (Missy) Aquino of Batavia, Brett Squire of Las Vegas, NV, Jeremy Squire of Arizona, Taylor Squire of Bergen and Stacy Squire of Batavia; a great-granddaughter, Ally Aquino of Batavia; a sister, Florence DiMatteo of Oakfield; sisters-in-law, Mitzi Squire of North Carolina and Mary Shuknecht of Elba, many nieces and nephews and his faithful companion, Rusty.

Vincent is the husband of the late, Irma J. (Shuknecht) Squire, they were married July 26, 1944, father of the late Larry and Kevin, grandfather of the late Zachary, brother of the late Norrine (Metz) Keem, Catherine (Kay) Hull, J. Edwin Squires and J. William Squire.

Services will be held privately for Vincent's family and he will be laid to rest in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Elba.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Churchville - Bruce I. Fuller, 75 of Churchville, passed away on Sunday, (January 17, 2021) at Elderwood at Amherst.

Mr. Fuller was born September 2, 1945 in Rochester,a son of the late Idelbert and Arietta (Wilson) Fuller.

Bruce worked for many years for the United States Post Office.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.
