Lucille E. (Wilder) Smart

Lucille E. (Wilder) Smart, 80, of Keller, TX. passed away on January 16, 2015 at Longmeadow Nursing Home.  She was born on December 7, 1934 in Batavia to the late Horace (Elsie Bowden) Wilder. She is preceded in death by her daughter Norma J. Smart; son Michael E. Smart and sister Virginia (Leroy) Dunlap.

Lucille was a 1953 graduate of Batavia High School. Prior to retirement in 1991, she was a receptionist at Genesee Community College.

Lucille is survived by her loving husband Robert D. Smart of Texas; daughters Susan (Frank) Henry of Texas, Janice “Jane” (George Arnold) Smart of Batavia; son Douglas (Bernadette) Smart of Batavia; daughter-in-law Janet Smart of Attica; grandchildren Jennifer (Torrey) Sweet, Erica, Kayla and Jessie Henry; Stephen (Katie) Cotter II, Jeremy Arnold; Douglas Jr., Brandon and Tyler Smart; Riley Malone; 3 brothers; 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. An 11:00 AM Funeral Service will be held on Saturday January 24, 2015 at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020.

TERRENCE W. "TERRY" PETERS

TERRENCE W. "TERRY" PETERS - age 72, of Batavia, former owner of Peter's Delicatessen and Peter's Treasures died unexpectedly Sunday morning January 18, 2015 at his home. He was born June 18, 1942 in Batavia, NY to the late J. Laverne and Margaret E. (Carson) Peters, also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen K. Peters on March 4, 2005; grandson, Richard Peters, Jr. and great-grandson, Marcus Peters.

   Terry operated Peter's Delicatessen and Peter's Treasures on West Main Street in the City for many years until his retirement, when he headed out to the country. There he enjoyed gardening and growing his" prized" tomatoes, bird watching and feeding many of the wildlife that waited by his door for a treat. He was an avid collector, compiling anything from tools to vintage tractors, he enjoyed going to auctions, stock cars, was a "Foodie"  at heart, he loved to cook and was known to his family as a "fantastic story teller." The greatest joys in Terry's life were his sweet, Jennifer and his angel, Bianca.

   Surviving is his beloved daughter, Jennifer (Jason) Dedman of Rochester, NY and their daughter, Bianca; son, Richard Peters, Sr. of Batavia and his daughters, Cindy, Sara & Elizabeth Peters; loving sister, Mary Ells; niece, Aimslee (Patrick) Cassidy and their children, Colin & Kaylee; nephew, Dereck (Mary Beth) Ells and their children, Cameron & Olivia all of Batavia; several great-grandchildren along with many friends.

   Terry's Family will be present from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday January 22, 2015 at the Michael S. Kenneth Dispenza Sr.

Kenneth Dispenza Sr., 65, of Marathon, FL.  passed away Wednesday January 14, 2015 on his father’s birthday. He was born June 25, 1949 in ­­­­Batavia to the late Frank G. Dispenza and Jennie (Pontillo) Dispenza of Batavia.

Ken enjoyed riding his Harley, golfing, and watching old time TV shows, wrestling and listening to music of all genres. He was an accomplished Tattoo Artist in Batavia and Florida. Ken enjoyed living in the Keys and adapted to its no hustle serene boating atmosphere. He will be missed by all those who knew him, especially his grandchildren as he was a big part of his their lives as they were growing up. To thine own self be true- and he was.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife Joan (Jasinski) Dispenza of Batavia; 2 sons Kenneth Dispenza Jr. of Key West, FL. and Joseph (Tammy Romaine) Dispenza of Batavia; brothers Frank (Prudance) Dispenza of Miami, FL. and Michael Dispenza of Treasure Island, FL. and 2 grandchildren Joseph Jr. and Marissa Dispenza of Batavia.

Bernice Cole

On January 17, 2015, after 82 years of a full, beautiful and happy life, Bernice Cole went home to be with God, with her husband of 59 years of marriage Theodore Cole by her bedside at her home peacefully.

She is survived by her brother Ulysses Jones (Annie Ruth) along with her two sisters Loretta Clark and Dorothy Billington. Her six of seven remaining children Elliouse (Victor) Evens, Michael (Betsey) Cole, Greg Cole (pre-deceased), Helen Allen, Curtis (Connie) Cole, Timothy and Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Cole.  She is also survived and loved by her 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

A beautiful women with an amazing legacy left behind her of love, family, God and tradition. With heavy hearts her family and close friends will come together at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church 516 Ellicott Street Batavia, New York 14020 where she was a member to celebrate her life, her wisdom, her humor, her love and her everlasting belief and faith in God. Calling hours will be Wednesday January 21, 2015 between 10-11 AM with services to immediately follow.

Robert A. Crnkovich

Byron ~ Robert A. Crnkovich, age 81, of Byron-Holley Road, passed away at home Saturday morning (January 17, 2015).

    

He was born in Batavia, a son of the late Frank and Anna Lubonavich Crnkovich.

     Mr. Crnkovich was a well known farmer and politician in the Byron community.  He served as the Byron Town Supervisor and also as Byron Town Justice for 26 years.  He also drove school bus part-time for Byron-Bergen, Wheatland-Chili and Notre Dame Schools.

     He is survived by his children, Mark (Lisa) Crnkovich of Elba, Kris Crnkovich of Byron and Todd Crnkovich of Byron; his granddaughters, Carly and Ashley; brothers, Joseph Crnkovich of LeRoy and Richard (Donna) Crnkovich of LeRoy, sister, Marian McGrath of LeRoy, along with many nieces and nephews.

     He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley in 2000, his sister-in-law, Carol Crnkovich and brother-in-law, James "Pat" McGrath.

     Family and friends may attend his funeral service on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy.  Interment in St. Francis Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.

FLORENCE K. BRESSETTE

FLORENCE K. BRESSETTE - age 84, of Batavia, formerly of North Syracuse, NY, died peacefully Sunday morning January 18, 2015 at United Memorial Medical Center. She was born September 18, 1930 in Tupper Lake, NY to the late Albert and Regina (Carron) Trombley, also preceded in death by the "true love of her life", her husband,  Theodore Bressette on October 13, 2000; siblings, Elizabeth, Charlie, Rita, Dora, Bernadette, Louis and infant sister, Katherine.

   Florence lived most of her life in Central, NY until moving here in 2001 to be closer to her daughter, she was a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Parish in North Syracuse. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Goldberg Furniture and after her retirement spent many years babysitting for children in her own home. She loved the Adirondack Mountains where she enjoyed camping with family, enjoyed bingo, playing cards, loved to travel, quilting, sewing, crafts, gardening and even volunteered with the kindergarten classes that her daughter teaches. Affectionately known as "Nana Flo", she was a wonderful kind-hearted, sweet woman who moved to the Domiciliary Care Unit 3 years ago at the Genesee County Nursing Home and quickly made some wonderful friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.

   Surviving are her loving daughters, Shirley Bressette of Ontario, Canada and her children, Julielynne (Giles) LaFreniere, Valerie (Paul) Lamanna & Amber (Jeff) McAuslan; Juileanne (Michael) Ellison of Prince George, VA and their children, Brandon (Julia Barraclough) Ellison & Audrey (Frank Rose) Ellison; Mary (Josh) Audsley of Attica and their children, Alexandra and Emma Rayne; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Percy & Robert Trombley; sisters, Nita St. Onge and Theresa Riley; sister-in-law, Cecile Trombley along with many nieces and nephews.

   Flo's Family will be present from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 20, 2015 at the Michael S. Tomaszewki Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020 where Funeral Services will immediately follow. Lorraine R. Silvernail

Lorraine R. Silvernail, 83 of Batavia passed away Sunday January 18, 2015 peacefully at New York State Veterans Home @ Batavia.  She was born on September 14, 1931 in Batavia to the late Leo (Gladys Fagan) Kearney.  Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd G. Silvernail Sr. and son Lloyd G. Silvernail Jr.

Lorraine worked for Genesee County Department of Social Services. She was a lifetime member of Resurrection Parish. She will be remembered for the love she had for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, dogs and horses.  

She is survived by her daughters Linda (William) Frank of Elba; Lee Ann (Timothy) Tyler of Stafford, Lori Silvernail of Batavia, 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.

HELEN C. DUNN

HELEN C. DUNN - age 92, of Batavia, died peacefully Friday afternoon January 16, 2015 at United Memorial Medical Center. She was born September 17, 1922 in Bethany, NY to the late Theophil and Agnes (Skotnicki) Zajaczkowski, also preceded in death by her longtime companion, Robert Henry; siblings, Stanley, Matthew, Alexander, John, Sylvester, Casimer and Sophie Zajaczkowski.

   Helen was a member of Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart), she enjoyed playing bingo, collecting toy bears and Polish Music.

   Surviving are her children, Raymond (Barbara) Dunn of MD, Paul (Dawn) Dunn of Attica and Debra Dunn of TN; brother, Walter Zajaczkowski of Batavia; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

   The Dunn Family will be present from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday January 20, 2015 at the Michael S. Tomaszewki Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020 where prayers will be recited at 11:00 a.m. followed by a 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Ascension Parish. Marion F. Murphy

Marion F. Murphy, 100 of Hamburg, passed away Friday January 16, 2015 peacefully at home. She was born on January 16, 1915 in Elba to the late James (Elizabeth Motz) German. Marion is preceded in death by her husband Sylvester  “Pat” W. Murphy; son Edward Murphy, brothers James and Charles German; sisters Helen Benthin, Dorothy Howe and Alice German.

Marion was a loving housewife and mother. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima in Elba, the Altar & Rosary Society and currently attended Mass at St. Peter and Paul Church in Hamburg. Mrs. Murphy was always doing crafts, making things and she worked endlessly helping out the Church. She learned many things at the Home Bureau and enjoyed her time spent there.

Marion is survived by her sons Thomas Murphy of Batavia, David (Peggy) Murphy of Medina; daughter Elizabeth (James) Henneberg of Hamburg; daughter-in-law Shirley, 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn I. Nichols

E. Bethany ~ Evelyn I. Nichols, age 88, of Ellicott St. Rd., passed away at home Wednesday morning, January 14, 2014.

    

Mrs. Nichols was born June 25, 1926 in Perry, a daughter of the late Harold and Eva Snider Phillips.

     She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and sister, who was very devoted to her family.  She enjoyed playing cards and dining out.

     She is survived by her children, Sandra Filio of LeRoy and Daniel (Shelly) Nichols of E. Bethany, grandson, Bryan Hargrave of Wyoming, a great-grandson, Daniel Nichols III,  her sister, Joyce Herold of Pavilion, along with several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, Donald "Whitey" Nichols and her grandson, Daniel Nichols II.

     Family and friends may call on Monday from 4 ~ 8 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Rd. (Rt. 19), LeRoy, where her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M.  Interment in East Bethany Rural Cemetery will immediately follow.

Richard Gay

Richard Gay, 65, of  Batavia passed away peacefully Wednesday January 14, 2015 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. He was born March 5, 1949 in Kittanning, PA. to the late Tilloson (Genevieve Gear) Gay. He is preceded in death by his sister Connie Gautieri; brother Tom (Betty) Collins; brother-in-law Charles Tabone and nephew Brett Merica.

Richard was an avid sports fan.  In high school he played baseball, basketball, and followed in his father’s footsteps as quarterback of the Attica Blue Devils football team.  Richard’s favorite sports teams to cheer for were the Buffalo Bills, Syracuse Orangemen, NY Yankees, and the Attica Blue Devils. Richard was the recipient of a double lung transplant in 2010 at UPMC in Pittsburgh, PA and encouraged everyone to “Donate Life” and become an organ donor.

He is survived by his sons David Gay of Batavia, Dylan Cameron of Batavia, Scott Cameron of Batavia, Jeremy Trzecieski of Pavilion, Brad (Kelly) Trzecieski of Oakfield, Kris Kohlhagen of Attica, and Ben (Jennifer) Kohlhagen of Attica; daughter Tara Trzecieski of Warsaw; sisters Sandra Tabone of Rochester, Gail (Richard) Montgomery of Wethersfield, Vicki (Gary) McKeirnan of Batavia; brother-in-law Vito (Marge) Gautieri; aunt Marge Mancuso; grandchildren Peyton Gay;  Hailie and Nathan Cameron; Cody, Lexi, Lilliana, J.T. Trzecieski, Jordon and Makiah Bey, Taylor Trzecieski, and Kendyll Kohlhagen along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marilyn A. Crocker

LeRoy - Marilyn A. Crocker, age 77, of Selden Road and Northport FL, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015.

She was born December 28, 1937 in Buffalo, the only child of the late William and Margaret

Hawn Roth.

     Marilyn was a graduate of LeRoy High School in 1955 and attended Ithaca College where she earned a B.S. in Physical Education in 1959.  She then earned her M.S. from SUNY Brockport in 1962.  She taught P.E. in the Avon School District from 1959 - 1967, before becoming a full-time mom of three children.  She taught many adults and children to swim at Crocker's Private Pool.  She enjoyed sharing her time and talents in helping others.

     She was the Director of the American Red Cross in LeRoy and a literacy volunteer, teaching adults to read.  She was a 25 year member of the National Ski Patrol at Swain Ski Center.  She and her husband, Judd enjoyed European ski vacations to Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Italy with the Rochester Ski Club.  Additionally, Marilyn was a member of the LeRoy Historical Society and worked part-time at Crocker's Ace Hardware store.

     In retirement, Marilyn and Judd continued their love of travel, covering most of the U.S. and Canadian Provinces in their motorhome.  They continued to share time equally between their home in LeRoy and their home in Florida, where Marilyn was active and personally organized the Riverwalk Shuffleboard Program for 14 years.

     She will be sadly missed by:  her loving husband of 48 years- Judd Crocker; her children- June (Bill) Bailey of Penfield, Cindy (Scott) Spear of Avon, IN and Brad (Nicole Boyce) Crocker of LeRoy, grandchildren- Jacqueline and Briana Bailey, Ryan, Andrew and Rachel Spear, Benjamin and Cole Crocker and Christina Woodrow.

     Family and friends may call on Saturday from 1 ~ 3 and 5 ~ 7 at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc. in LeRoy. Services, led by Rev. Colleen O'Connor, will follow at 7 P.M.  Interment will be private in Machpelah Cemetery.

Earl "Donald" Krauss

Earl “Donald” Krauss, 81, of Attica passed away peacefully Monday January 12, 2015 at United Memorial Medical Center. He was born December 24, 1933 in Batavia to the late Earl (Leola Morgan) Krauss.

Earl owned and operated Attica Garage- Ford Mercury Dealership prior to retirement.  He is a Untied States Army Veteran. Earl is a member of the Forest Hill Cemetery Board, and a long time member of The First Presbyterian Church. He was a former board member of the church and was also a maintenance committee member.  "Don" was an original member of the Attica Drum Corps which later became the Herald Airs. He was a great father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Edith Krauss; daughter Beth (Robert Craft) Krauss; son Joseph (Carol) Krauss and grandsons Matthew, Andrew Craft, and Christopher Krauss.

Marilyn F. Fuller

Marilyn F. Fuller, 69, of Gainesville passed away on Tuesday January 13, 2015 at Eastside Nursing Home in Warsaw. She was born in Warsaw, New York a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Evelyn (McCall) Flint. She is preceded in death by a daughter Lori Stevenson who died in 2010.

Marilyn was a graduate of Letchworth Central School and was a licensed insurance broker. She worked for the Bank of Castile, the former Goff Insurance Agency and Potter Insurance Co both in Castile and retired from Tompkins Insurance. She enjoyed gardening, reading and collecting Coca Cola Polar Bear items.

She is survived by her husband Gerald Fuller whom she married on November 30, 1963, a daughter Lisa (Brian) Deel of Conesus; son-in-law Bradley Stevenson of Gainesville; grandson Cody (Kelsey Ganshaw) Stidfole of Conesus; great grandson: Declan Stidfole; her dogs Sweetie Pie, Homer and Morgan; sister Marion Baker of Castile; 2 nephews; close friends Jeanne (Mike) Sullivan and Millie (Ken) Thayer along with several great nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday January 17th at 10AM at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC 98 North Main St. in Perry. She will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery in Gainesville.

Michael P. Cicero

Michael P. Cicero, 56, of Perry, died on Tuesday January 6, 2015 at his home in Perry. He was born in Warsaw on November 1, 1958, a son of Samuel (Connie Kozak) Cicero.
 

Michael was a graduate of Perry High School. He worked for the Rochester Laborers Union Local 435 in Rochester. He enjoyed playing cards watching NASCAR Races, and hanging out with friends.

He is survived by his parents Samuel and Connie (Kozak) Cicero of Yuma, AZ.; 2 brothers Peter of Laughlin, NV., Samuel (Christine) of Caledonia; 3 nephews Craig, Deric and Mitchell Cicero; 1 niece Kaleigh Cicero; 1 Aunt  Josephine Lapiana of Perry along with many cousins and friends.

Family and friends may call from 12-2 and 4-6 PM on Saturday January 10, 2015 at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main Street Perry, New York 14530 where services will follow at 6 PM. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Perry.
