ayala.jpgMarguerite Ayala, 74 of Batavia, NY. Died October 25, 2010 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Born June 14, 1936 in Glade Spring, VA. She is daughter of the late Rea (Louise Reddix) Austin. Mrs. Ayala worked for years at Tenny Laundry in Batavia. She attended the Salvation Army. Mrs. Ayala enjoyed gardening and loved taking care of her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by brothers Donald and Sydney Austin; sisters Virginia Reddix; Doris Benjamin; Beatrice Johnson; Frances Kauland; Gladys Graves and Omega Hounshell. 
 
She is survived by her husband Pedro Ayala of Batavia; sons Victor (Yvonne) Ayala of GA; Peter Ayala of Batavia; daughters Vanessa (Earnest) Fullwood of PA; Margarite (William) Vascianne of N. Chili; Debra Ayala of GA; Diane Ayala of Buffalo; Anita Cunningham of Batavia; Donna (Henry) Rolle of Batavia; brother Rea Austin of Rochester; sisters Agnes Austin of Batavia; Eva Calisto of Batavia; Rosetta Hickman of Batavia; 32 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews also survive.

Main St. Batavia, NY 14020. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday October 30, 2010 at New Hope Ministries 8052 Bank St. Rd. Batavia - Mr. Earl K. Tatro, 86, of Batavia, died Tuesday, (October 26,
2010) at home while under the care of Homecare and Hospice.

Mr. Tatro was born January 19, 1924 in Vergennes, Vermont, a son of the
late Leo and Phyllis (Hall) Tatro.

A veteran, he served with the United States Navy and was a stone crusher
at the former Genesee-LeRoy Stone in Stafford. Mr. Tatro enjoyed wood
crafting, making model ships and gardening.

Survivors include his children, Earlene (Louis) Howard of Stockdale,
Texas, Dannis Blanco of Atlanta, Georgia, William Blanco of Niagara Falls,
Gail Carpenter of Batavia, Sandra (Scott) Ohlson of East Bethany, Lavine
Scroger of Taylorsville, North Carolina, Bronco Blanco of Batavia, Jesse
(Julie) Blanco of Batavia and Angela Blanco of Batavia; 34 grandchildren;
39 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Tatro is predeceased by his wife, Ardella Tatro and two brothers,
Arlyn Tatro and Leo Tatro Jr.

Calling hours are Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Oakfield United
Methodist Church, 2 South Main Street, Oakfield, where services will be at
10:00 a.m. also on Saturday. Burial will be in Reed Cemetery, Oakfield.

scan.jpgBeulah M. Drachenberg, "Bea", 76, of Clarence Ctr., died Friday (October 22, 2010) at the home of her daughter in Middlesex, NY.

She was born in Alabama, NY on May 2, 1934, a daughter of the late Rudolph and Ella Ostrander Woodrich.

She was a shoe sewer at  P.W. Minor Shoe Factory in Batavia prior to her retirement and enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Surviving is her husband of over 29 years, Otto Drachenberg.  Two daughters and a son in law: Debra Ames of Middlesex, NY and Cindy and James Williams of St. Cloud, FL.  A son and daughter in law, Terry and (Deborah) Conrad of Alabama, NY.  Stepchildren: Linda and Joseph Cipriano of So. Carolinaand Todd and June Drachenberg of Sanborn, NY.   Two sisters in law: Gertrude Woodrich of Batavia and JoAnn Leaton of Byron.  Ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was the sister of the late: Alfred, Harold (late Shirely) and Lawrence Woodrich.

Friends may call Monday at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, 2 BOGUE AVE., BATAVIA from 4 - 7:30 PM.  Services will be Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 31 Washington Ave., Batavia at 11 AM with Rev. Allen Werk, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Alabama Cemetery in Alabama, NY.

Thomas B. Marchese, 67 of Batavia, NY died October 24, 2010 peacefully at his home surrounded by family. Born November 18, 1942 in Batavia, New York. Son of the late Thomas (Catherine Rosica) Marchese. Tom worked as the Banquet Manager at the Holiday Inn in Batavia for many years. 
 
He is survived by his partner of 21 years John Quinn of Batavia; son Mark (Sheila) Marchese of Corfu; daughter Jennifer (Stephen) Woeller of Batavia; brother John (Cathy) Marchese of Basom; sisters Jeanette Fryer; Maryanne Dugan both of Batavia; 8 grandchildren Joseph, Sarah Elmore, Talisa, Mercedes, Michayla, Arianna Marchese, Quinn and Peyton Woeller, 1 great-grandchild Emma Teresi-Marchese survive along with many nieces and nephews.

Gaylord R. Ace Sr., 72 of Basom, NY. Died October 23, 2010 peacefully at his son’s home surrounded by his family. Born August 18, 1938 in Orchard Park, New York to the late Floyd (Edith Harmon) Ace. Mr. Ace worked for Batavia Wine Factory. He was a United States Navy Veteran. Some of his hobbies include hunting, fishing, listening to Bluegrass and Gospel music. 
 
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Mary Ann (Maltby) Ace of Basom; sons Gaylord R. (Cheryl) Ace Jr. of Ft. Smith, AR; Brian (Tracy) Ace Sr. of Batavia; Matthew Ace of Basom; daughters Terry (Dan) Yates of Batavia; Barbara (Tom) Bodie of Gassport; Mae (Bob) Shafer of Batavia; brother James (Carol) Ace of Belfast; sister Audrey Miller of Ft. Collins, CO; 17 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren survive along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Peggy J. Monachino, 70 of Batavia, NY. Died October 23, 2010 peacefully at her son’s home surrounded by her family. Born December 3, 1939 in Abingdon, VA daughter of the late Helen (Coe) Cumbo. Mrs. Monachino was retired from Wal-Mart. She loved reading, traveling, garage and yard sales along with being an avid animal lover. She loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a brother-in-law Joseph Fragnito. 
 
Survivors include son Sam N. (Lori) Monachino of Batavia; brother Robert (Allison) Cumbo of Cumming, GA; sister Connie Fragnito of Rochester; 5 grandchildren Jessica, Christopher (Alaina), Benjamin, Michael Long and Chase Monachino, 2 great-grandchildren Jacob and Jasmin Long along with several nieces and nephews also survive.
 
Calling hours and funeral services will be private for family only. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Batavia.

Batavia - Mr. Charles D. “Chip” Barnard, Sr., age 69, of Batavia, former controller for G.T.E. Sylvania in Batavia, died Friday, October 22, 2010 at Highland Hospital in Rochester.

Mr. Barnard was born April 21, 1941 in Batavia, the son of the late Glenn and Eleanor Norris Barnard.
 
A 1973 graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, he was a  member of St. James Episcopal Church for over 46 years, he was a member of the Moose Club and loved watching trains and was an avid pheasant and deer hunter.
 
Following his employment from Sylvania, he worked at Fisher Price and Robison Appliance. Following his retirement he worked at Tops Markets as a product director and as a driver for GCASA.
 
At age 14, he began scuba diving and worked for many years as an underwater recovery scuba diver for the Genesee County Sheriff's Department. An animal lover, he will be dearly missed by his dogs Blondie May and Autumn Star whom he loved taking for walks.
 
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jean M. Pratt Barnard whom he married June 28, 1963; a son, Charles D. Barnard, Jr.; a daughter, Kim (James) Ficarella of Batavia; two granddaughters, Samantha and Nicole Ficarella of Batavia; sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Marilyn (John) Orlando of Batavia, Bill (Elaine) Pratt of Rochester, Mary Jo (George) Davis of Batavia and the late Margaret Wescott. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
 
Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will follow at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Episcopal Church, 405 East Main Street, Batavia. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia. Bette S. Evans, 76 of Perry died October 22, 2010 at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw. Mrs. Evans was born in Silver Lake, NY daughter of the late Eldon Safford and Verda (Clark) Safford of Warsaw. She worked for over 20 years at Mallory Timers in Warsaw. She loved sewing, embroidering, computers and photography.

Mrs. Evans is survived by her husband James E. Evans of Perry; sons David Evans of Buffalo; Daniel (Holly) Evans of Perry Center; brothers William (Sally) Safford of Perry; Roger (Donna) Safford of Lima; sister Edna (Harold) Schutte of Fairport; 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild along with many nieces, nephews also survive.

Friends are invited to call on Monday October 25th from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday October 26th at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Silver Springs.

Warsaw - Mrs. Onalee E. Mills, 93, of Warsaw and formerly of Genesee County, died Thursday, (October 21, 2010)at the Eastside Nursing Home in Warsaw.
Mrs. Mills was born October 1, 1917 in Basom, the daughter of the late Luwellyn and Luella (Sprague) Hatch.
She was a registered nurse at the former Genesee Memorial Hospital and former St. Jerome's Hospital for 25 years. Mrs. Mills was a member of First Baptist Church of Batavia and attended the Batavia Christian Women's Club. She also belonged to The Genesee County Historical Society and participated in The Current Books and Topics Club. 
Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Charles) Canon of Wyoming and Gail (James) Richert of Lakeport, Michigan; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Mills is predeceased by her two husbands, Albert Neth, who died in 1970 and Olin Mills who died in 1980. She is also predeceased by her brothers, Edward Hatch and Lloyd Hatch.  
Calling hours will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Batavia, 306 East Main Street, Batavia. Burial will be in Stafford Rural Cemetery. Bergen - Mrs. Lori Ann Nelson, 49, of Bergen, a bookkeeper for the Town of Bergen and Joanne Amon, CPA, died suddenly on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.

Mrs. Nelson was born February 10, 1961 in Jamestown, the daughter of John "Jack" and Mary (Tornstrom) Rounds of Las Vegas, NV.

She was a member for 11 years and Vice President for 8 years of the Byron Bergen Central School Board of Education, a voting delegate to the New York State School Board Association, and served on the Executive Board of the Genesee Valley School Boards Association. She was a member of the Byron Bergen Sports Boosters and volunteer for school musical productions. She remained active in student activities long after her children had graduated from Byron Bergen High School and was active in Boy Scouts and former Troop Leader for the Girl Scouts as well as volunteering at the Bergen 1st Presbyterian Church Nursery and Vacation Bible School.

She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Nelson whom she married October 10, 1981; a son, Mitchel Nelson of Bergen; 2 daughters, Bobbi Gayle Nelson of Niagara Falls and Regina Nelson of Herkimer, 2 brothers, Randy (Bonnie) Rounds of Las Vegas and David Rounds; several nieces, nephews and many close friends whom she welcomed into her family.  

Friends may call on Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 S. Lake St., Bergen. Services will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Bergen 1st Presbyterian Church.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Condolences may be made at www.bataviafuneralhomes.com.
