Dell L. Griffith

Dell L. Griffith, 87 of Batavia, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Premier Genesee. He was born August 20, 1933 in Franklinville, NY to the late Harry (Eleanor Smith) Griffith. He is preceded in death by his wife Lillian (Gibson) Griffith and a sister Carol Fite.

Dell was the oldest and only son of six children.  He left high school in the 10th grade and eventually enlisted in the Air Force where he served during the Korea conflict. He was stationed throughout the United States, including Colorado, and also in the French Morocco. At this time he received his high school diploma.  After his Air Force service, he eventually made his way to Kodak and became a supervisor. He took his first wife and three daughters to live in Fort Collins, Colorado where his last daughter was born. Dell was eventually transferred back to Rochester and lived life as a single man until he met his beloved wife, Lillian. Shortly after their marriage in 1981, they moved to Loveland, Colorado. Dell retired from Kodak in 1990 and enrolled in journalism and art classes. He worked part-time at Walmart to help pay to keep his 1979 Chevy Blazer running, buy painting supplies and pay for the care of horses he would have over the years. He retired from Walmart in 2012. Dell and Lillian enjoyed traveling throughout the western states and lived happily until Lilian passed away unexpectedly in 2013. Dell decided to move back to NYS in 2015, but his heart and mind were always in Colorado. Before Dell died, he was able to meet his first great-grandson that was born this past October.

Dell was known for his love of life, sense of humor, his camera at his side, willing to go anywhere at any time, his love of Lillian, his daughters and grandchildren (natural, step and “adopted”). His passions were his 1979 Chevy Blazer, painting, photographing wild horses in the Rocky Mountains and cheering on the Denver Broncos!

Dell is survived his children, Betsy Griffith of Le Roy, Lisa Griffith of Batavia, Kelly Zintel of Le Roy, Kris (Ted) Tsoukalos of Batavia, step-children, Linda (Bob) Hendricks of Lancaster, Ronald (Ruby) Downs of Alexander, Terry (Ann) Downs of Florida, sisters, Irene (Bob) Fite of Byron, Donna Kruppa of Penfield, Janice (Ron) Browne of Washington, Dorothy (Neil) Poff of Arkansas, 10 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 6 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Dell is also survived by “adopted” Colorado grandchildren, Adrienne Godwin & Jennifer Benson and Jesse Jankowski & Lindsey Jankowski.  He is also survived by his grandcat buddy, Andy.  He was predeceased by his best friend, George Miles.

Muriel E. "Mickie" Haymon

Muriel "Mickie" Eleanor Haymon, of Bergen, NY, returned to her heavenly home on Thursday, January 28th, while in the care of those at Strong Memorial Hospital.  Mickie was born on June 8, 1933 in Mont Clair, New Jersey.

    

 Mickie was predeceased by her parents, William and Muriel Lightholder and her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Robert Thomas.

     She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Henry "Hank" Haymon and their four sons, Dave (Bonnie) Haymon of Brockport, Mike (Cindy) Haymon of Churchville, Dan (Susan) Haymon of Virginia Beach and Mark (Cyndi) Haymon of Bergen.  She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Edie and Ron MacGregor.  Mickie deeply loved her 8 grandchildren and her 19 great-grandchildren.

     Earlier in her life, Mickie worked for the Byron-Bergen High School in the cafeteria.  She was a dedicated member of the Stone Church Congregation for most of her life, where she served as Deacon, Elder and Head of the Prayer Chain until her passing.  She was awarded Peacemaker of the Year in 1994.  Mickie was a kind and loving person and those closest to her will miss her caring and joyful personality.

     A Celebration of Mickie's Life will held in the Summer of 2021 at a time and date to be announced.

Elizabeth A. "Betty" Moore

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Moore, 72 of Batavia, passed away on February 2, 2021. She was born on May 23, 1948 in Batavia to the late Frank Moore and Marilyn (Edgerton) Moore Beechler. She is preceded in death by sister Susan Dilcher.

Betty was a Professional Registered Nurse at Strong Memorial Hospital. She was a Deacon and longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Batavia. Betty was an avid sports car enthusiast and past member of Sports Car Club of America. She was an avid Buffalo Bills and New York Mets fan.

Betty is survived by her daughter Anissa Kline of Batavia; sister Diane (Jack) Flanigan of Oakfield, nephew Randal (Christine) Warner of Oakfield; great-nieces and nephews, Dawson, Kendal and Lakynn.  

There will be no prior calling hours. A Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date.

Terry Lee Satterlee

  Terry Lee Satterlee, age 74, of Silver Springs, NY passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday February 2, 2021 surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Warsaw, NY on January 8, 1947 a son to the late Dean B. and Mary E. (McQueen) Satterlee.
Terry was a 1965 graduate of Letchworth Central High School and received his associate’s degree from Erie Community College.

He was drafted by the US Army after college and served honorably from 1968-1969 in Vietman. He achieved the rank of Staff Sargeant in the Mechanized Infintry. Terry was a product engineer for Fisher Price Toys in East Aurora for 38 years retiring in 2008. After retirement he worked for Southview Farms in Castile and was a wingman on the snowplow for the Town of Gainesville. He was a member of St. Isidore’s Catholic Parish (St. Mary’s Church in Silver Springs) where he was active in many committees, a 50 years member of the Silver Springs Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Bates Courtney Post #0105 of the American Legion in Silver Springs, Perry VFW Post #509 and Warsaw Memorial Vets Club Post #4823, He was involved in the Letchworth Central School Board, Village Board and Zoning Board for Silver Springs. I Terry’s spare time he enjoyed going out for coffee daily with friends and never missed his daily visit with his sister Sally. He was an avid fan of tractor pulling and keeping tabs on all of his family and local farming happenings. He enjoyed watching old westrn shows, listening to classic and older country music. He loved to sing and dance. His passion was spending time with loved ones and spoiling his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Judy A. (Mattingly) Satterlee whom he married on May 23, 1970, 2 daughters: Jennifer (Jeremy) Schroeder of Silver Springs, Jessica (Geir) Gudmundsen of Cranford, NJ, son: Steven (Jessica) Satterlee of Silver Springs, Sister: Sally Meegan of Silver Springs, 9 grandchildren: Ethan, Hayden and Logan Schroeder, Jakob and Nickolas Price, Madison and Maeson Satterlee, Magnus and Finn Gudmundsen, along with many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a sister: Judy Ridder who passed away in 2008.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Terry will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Silver Springs.

Judith L. Thrasher

Batavia - Judith L.  Thrasher, age 78, of Batavia passed away at her home.

Judy was born Wednesday, December 2, 1942 in Batavia, a daughter of the late James Francis Thrasher and Marion J. Kershner Thrasher.

A graduate of Notre Dame High School, she furthered her education at the former Rosary Hill College (now Daemen College) where she earned her bachelor's degree. Judy received her Master's Degree in Social Work from Boston College and served in the Peace Corps in Ecuador from 1966-1968. She worked at the probation department in Genesee County and spent many years as a Spanish speaking corrections officer for Wyoming County Correctional Facility, Livingston County Correctional Facility and Albion Correctional Facility. A longtime member of St. Mary's Church, Judy was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills.

Surviving are her sister, Suellen (Michael) Graney of Webster; brothers-in-law; James P. Murphy of Jamestown and Dr. Joseph Zambon of Buffalo; along with loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and several dear friends.

Judy is predeceased by her sisters; Maureen Zambon and Roberta Murphy.

There are no prior visiting hours. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for her family. She will be entombed in St. Joseph's Mausoleum. Candice Baetzold

Candice Baetzold, 62 of Attica, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. She was born April 29, 1958 in Buffalo to Marianne (Hegadus) Waldo and the late Robert Conboy.

Candice worked at ARC in Batavia as a Care Taker and absolutely loved her job. She enjoyed sewing and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Candice loved taking care of her family.

She is survived by her beloved husband Robert Baetzold of Attica, children Carianne Marie (Timothy) Pionessa of Warsaw, Ryan Baetzold of Attica, siblings Robert (Tina), Colleen and Dean, grandchildren Adelyn, Finn and Brandon Pionessa, along with many nieces and nephews.

Kenneth W. Fuller

Alabama - Kenneth W. Fuller, 96 of Alabama passed away on Sunday, (January 31, 2021) at the Villages of Orleans Health and Rehabilitation Center in Albion.

Mr. Fuller was born December 23, 1924 in Shelby, a son of the late Raymond and Melvina Fuller.

He was a past member of the Alabama Fire Department and worked for many years with Seamans' Hardware in East Pembroke.

Kenneth is the husband of the late Marion Fuller; and brother of the late Helen (late Kermit) Weber, Avis (late Kirby) Brown, and Leora (late Ralph) Scroger.

He is survived by his son, Roger (Audrey) Fuller of Rochester; grandsons, Jeffrey (Betsy) Fuller and Brian (Meg) Fuller; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Heather, Jacob, and Chase; great-great-granddaughter, Kleo Fuller; step-brother, Gordon (Sherry) Fuller of California. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, (February 5, 2021) from 4:00 pm  to 6:00 pm  at Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue in Oakfield.  Kenneth's funeral service will be held privately for the family.  Burial will be in the spring in Alabama Cemetery. Carlyle Bump

Carlyle Bump, 73, of Corfu, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 at his home.

Carlyle was born March 1, 1947 in Albion, a son of the late Alton and Norma (Wheaton) Bump.

A veteran, Carlyle served with the United States Army.  He loved horseshoes and golfing and was a gas well tender for USG Gasfields in Oakfield.  

Surviving are his wife, Linda L. Bump of Corfu; children, Timothy K. Bump of Batavia, Jodi L. Williams of LeRoy and Kimberly S. (Michael, Sr.) Dorobiala of Denton, TX; sisters, Charlotte (Roger) Salmone of Warsaw and Emily (David) Gill of Dansville; six grandsons and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by brothers, Edward Bump, Charles Bump and Bob Wheaton and a sister, Flora Ewell.

There will be no prior calling hours or funeral service.

Myron Albert Seward

Myron Albert Seward, 92, of Basom, NY passed away peacefully at Premier Genesee Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Batavia, NY on January 31, 2021. He was born April 22, 1928 to the late Wellington and Edith Seward in Bergen, NY.

Myron was proud to be a lifelong farmer. As a young man he worked at the family’s dairy and crop farm as well as their milk hauling business in Bergen. In 1951 he married the love of his life, Ethelyn Sumeriski. They moved to their own farm in Basom, NY where they lived, farmed and raised a family together for the next 55 years. Myron was predeceased by Ethelyn in 2006. 

Myron loved farming and his family. He loved people, and enjoyed reminiscing about farm life,   times gone by and the way things used to be done! He could, and would, talk with anyone he met, always regaling them with a farming or milk hauling story. His family and friends will be able to retell some of his favorite stories for years to come! Myron was a kind and gentle man who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Myron is survived by his children; daughter Brenda Seward of Basom, son George Seward and his wife Cricket Johnson- Seward of Basom, grandsons- Elias (Catherine) Seward of Oakfield and Noah (Niki) Seward of Attica, greatgrandchildren- Tyler, Sydney, Cade and Paxton. Myron was predeceased by his younger brothers, Norman and Gordon. Also surviving are his brother Elton (Jean), and sister-in-laws Marion and Delores, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A limited family and close friends funeral service will be held at St Paul Lutheran Church on Saturday February 6, 2021 at 11 AM with a brief viewing prior to the service at 10AM. A celebration of Myron’s life is being planned for the summer of 2021, at the farm he and Ethelyn loved so much, on Gorton Rd in Basom. Hopefully all of Myron’s extended family and friends will join us to remember and share stories of Myron’s remarkable life at that time!

William M. Barrett Jr.

  William M. Barrett Jr. age 76 of Pavilion, NY passed away on Sunday January 31, 2021 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Batavia, NY on June 20, 1944, a son to the late William M. and Althea (Brydges) Barrett.  Along with his parents he is preceded in death by brothers: Richard and Roger Barrett.

William was a graduate of Pavilion High School.  Bill worked for the former Eaton Yale and Towne in Batavia, NY as a cost accountant, was a bus driver for Pavilion High School and later became a Correctional Officer at Groveland Correctional until the age of 62.  He was a member of the Alexander United Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir and a member of the International Camping Club. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing softball, camping, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife: Judy A. (Satter) Barrett whom he married on August 31, 1963, daughter: Debbie (Kevin) Slough of Grand Island, NY, son: Duane Barrett of Pavilion, NY,1 grandson: Ian Brunskill along with several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call from 11:00am-12:00pm on Friday, February 5, 2021 at the Alexander United Methodist Church 10540 Main St. in Alexander, NY 14005. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00pm. Bill will be laid to rest in Grandview Cemetery in Batavia, NY.

John D. Keenan

Caledonia ~ Passed away on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021 at age 84.  He was born Feb. 2, 1936 in Caledonia, a son of the late Andrew and Blanche Leathersich Keenan.

    

John will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend, who was dedicated to his family and his community.  He was a proud US Army veteran, ran his own electrical contracting business, along with many other jobs and served on many town, village and church boards.

     He will be sadly missed by his children; Joan (Charles) Robinson, Michael Keenan (Terri Lambert) and Daniel (Barbara) Keenan; grandchildren, Chad Robinson, Kailee (Travis) Salamone, Kasey (Seth) Mitchum, Kevin (Janey) Keenan and Emma Keenan; great-grandchildren, Aizlyn, Jozlyn, Zaydalynn, Madelynn, Kayleigh and Abbygale; siblings, Robert Keenan of FL, Mary Sickles, Marilyn (C. Richard) Fisher and Melville (Martha) Keenan, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

     He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Callan Keenan and his siblings, Margaret Steiner, James Keenan, Marion Wood, William Keenan and Marjorie Gray.

     Due to COVID restrictions, a private funeral mass will be held at St. Columba Church on Saturday, Feb. 6., however friends are invited to join the family at St. Columba Cemetery at 11:00 AM for committal prayers and military honors.  A Celebration of John’s Life will immediately follow at Jones Hall.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Caledonia Library, 3108 Main Street Caledonia or the Big Springs Museum, Main St., Caledonia.

Alan R. Hoyt

Attica ~ Alan R. Hoyt, age 68, of Sokol Drive, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.

     He was born June 25, 1952 in Batavia, a son of the late Ward and Dorothy Grant Hoyt.

     Alan was a graduate of LeRoy High School, a member of the First Presbyterian Church of LeRoy and a former member of the First Baptist Church in LeRoy.  Alan will be remembered for his love of collecting political memorabilia.

     He is survived by his brother, Donald I. Hoyt of Seneca Falls, N.Y., along with many cousins and friends.

     Services and interment in Machpelah Cemetery, LeRoy, N.Y. will be at the convenience of the family.

     Contributions in memory of Alan are suggested to either the First Presbyterian Church of LeRoy or the First Baptist Church in LeRoy.

Adam Douglas Monroe

Adam Douglas Monroe was born to Douglas F. and Patricia Berryman Monroe in Batavia.

He attended Alexander Central School and didn't graduate because of health issues.

Adam was a happy, cheerful soul that always had a smile on his face. He was a charter member of the reorganized Glenn S. Loomis American Legion Post No. 332 and an organizing charter member of the Niagara Frontier Charter The Society of the Second War with Great Britain in the State of New York-The General Society of the War of 1812.

He is survived by his siblings; Gary F. Monroe of White Plains, Anne K.M. Allen of Hillsborough, North Carolina, Elijah B.A. Monroe of Attica who is a school bus driver for C+F Transportation and Andrew G. Monroe of Adolphus, Kentucky; three aunts; Jean S. Monroe, JoAnn Monroe and Mrs. Larry Casper all of Batavia and many cousins and nephews.

He is predeceased by his brother, Douglas W. Monroe of Houston, Texas.

There are no prior calling hours. He will be laid to rest in Maple Hill Cemetery, Darien. Public funeral services will be announced for a later date. Terry R. Kilian

Terry R. Kilian, 68 of Lima, passed away at home after a short illness. Terry was born October 3, 1952 in Batavia. He is preceded in death by his father Ralph Kilian and niece Randall "Randi" Miller.

Terry loved music, jigsaw puzzles and people, everyone was his friend. Growing up he had chores and worked on the family farm. He was not however a fan of picking up rocks or chickens.

He is lovingly remembered by his mother Arlene M. Kilian, sister Cindy Fish, brother Jeff Kilian, sister Nancy (Doug) Miller, along with many nieces and nephews.

Dale G. Bremiller

Dale G. Bremiller, 77 of Corfu, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at his home.

Dale was born on September 20, 1943, in Buffalo, a son of the late Gerald and Evelyn Boll Bremiller. He was the brother of the late Wayne Bremiller.

Dale grew up in Lancaster and served with the United States Army in Vietnam. A longtime resident of Corfu, he worked at Agway and served as the Town of Pembroke Code and Zoning Enforcement Officer until he retired.

Dale was a Lionel train collector, a love he shared with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved his 1964 Ford Galaxy 500 and going to car shows. He was a member of the WNY Gas & Steam Engine Association since the early 1970’s and held the office of President for several years. He shared his joy and collection of hit & miss engines with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Dale was the loving husband to Judith (Ehrenreich), father to Bryan (Rebbecca), Arick and Rebecca Sue (Kevin). Grandfather to Emeraldgene, Sterling, Coral, Austin and Nicholas and great grandfather to Dina, Trevor and Evan.

Friends may call Friday, February 5, 2021, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc., 4 East Main Street, Corfu. Burial will be in the Western New York National Cemetery, Corfu, NY at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors or WNY Gas & Steam Engine Association.

Dale was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
