Mary Elizabeth Delbridge Shuknecht, 94, of Elba, passed peacefully at home on Sunday, (January 31, 2021). She was born on August 22, 1926 in Batavia to the late Raymond and Mae Delbridge. She is predeceased by her husband, Neil Shuknecht, whom she married on April 29, 1950 in an intimate ceremony. Mary was a devoted farm wife during their many years together.

Mary graduated from Batavia High School and then attended a two-year business program at Miami University in Ohio. She worked in the banking business for most of her career at Anchor Bank in Batavia, where she always had a smile and a friendly hello for her customers. In her free time, she supported her children who were actively involved in the local 4-H program.

Mary was a lifelong avid reader and would frequently tell the story of the time she was running and reading as a child, when she tripped over a toy and broke her arm. She could be seen frequently looking for the latest books to read at Richmond Memorial Library into her early 90s. She was also an active member of St. James Church of Batavia and enjoyed their Friday Fish fry dinners. Mary always put others first and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary’s lifelong motto at dessert: “I’ll have a little of each!” She loved life and her sweet treats!

Mary was the loving mother of Gerald (Valerie) Shuknecht of Keeseville, NY, Cynthia Chisholm of Las Vegas, Donald (Cindy) Shuknecht of Elba, and Cathy (Chip) Wynn of Hummelstown, PA.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jered (Katie) Shuknecht, Sarah (Barry) Christ, Shane (Anastacia) Shuknecht, Amanda (Rich) Drowne, Courtney (Erik) Jenks, Mary Jean Shuknecht and Ashley (Eric) Rossello. Mary was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren.

Mary was predeceased by her son-in-law, Christopher Chisholm; her brother, Wade; sisters, Donna Coward and Eleanor Gaiser; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at a later date.

Julia Marie Falleti passed away at the age of 74 on January 30, 2021 in Batavia.  Mrs. Falleti was born on May 19, 1946, in Albion, the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Tokotch.

For the last 3 years, Julia had bravely fought ovarian cancer. She will be remembered as a strong and selfless Wife, Mother, Grandmother and overall spirit.

Julia worked for the Batavia City School District as a Secretary for 30 years. She enjoyed guiding students in becoming college ready and was always ready to shine a positive light on their futures. She remained active after retirement by cooking, baking, knitting and crocheting. Julia also gave back to the community through various organizations.

Julia is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Domenico Falleti. She was the mother of Maria Falleti of Naples, Florida and Antonino (Michelle) Falleti of Batavia; Grandmother of Maximus Falleti ; sisters, Betty Falleti, Frances Pellegrino, Helen Warner; brother, Bruce Tokotch; along with many nieces and nephews.

A Private Memorial Mass to celebrate her life will be held at the convenience of the family. She will be entombed in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum. Harry Louis Kalish was born May 2, 1951 in Queens, NY, to Walter Kalish and Catherine Cuthill. He died at age 69 in Florida on Jan. 18, 2021.

He was formerly a longtime Batavia resident.

Harry has three brothers. Harry leaves behind three adult children and three grandchildren: Sara Hall (37), Harry's youngest daughter, her fiance, Jeremy Brown, and Sara’s children, the twins Cody and Brylie Hall (13), and Autumn Hall (11). Harry's son, Jacob Kalish (41) and Harry's oldest daughter, Katherine Kalish (42).

Harry was retired, but worked as a cook for more than 35 years, and spent his last 10 years as a truck driver delivering tires around Central Florida. He enjoyed his work and always put his best integrity forward. When Harry fought and gained his three children in 1995, he would work two jobs at a time to provide a new home and life for them. 

Harry loved the Jets and football. He loved the Mets in baseball. Harry could be found watching sports 90 percent of his last days and loved watching and talking about each game and highlights with Jeremy Brown. Harry was a huge fan of rock 'n' roll and would always have his radio up overloud as he worked out. He loved to dance with his grandkids and joke around with silliness. 

Harry was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in early 2019. He was a fighter and never wanted to give up. His body became too weak and he left this world holding his daughter Sara’s hand and his love of his life at one time, Sandra Brooks. His grandchildren and family were gathered as he took his last breath with his favorite rock 'n' roll music seeing him out. 

Harry always cared so much for his daughter Sara and her children and would always help out in any way he was able to. Harry was a great man and will be truly missed.

ZoElla L. Spink, 84, of Batavia, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at United Memorial Medical Center.

ZoElla was born August 13, 1936 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Raymond and Mabel (Calkins) Worthington.

ZoElla was a life member of Northgate Free Methodist Church, where she was a very active member.  She loved to bake and spend time with her family.   

Surviving are her sons, Ronald (Deborah) Spink of Batavia, Timothy (Belinda) Spink of Batavia, Jamie (Kathy) Spink of Batavia and Christopher (Joan) Hoppey-Spink of Amherst; a brother, E. James (Charlene) Worthington of Elba; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Ronald W. Spink; brothers, Raymond Worthington, Roy Worthington, Spencer Worthington and Donald Worthington; sisters, Winifred Cook and Viola Wight.

ZoElla's Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Nothgate Free Methodist Church.

  Steven Donald Clattenburg, 60, of Batavia passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday January 24, 2021. He was born on March 22, 1960 to the late Donald and Audrey Clattenburg.

Steven was known well in the community for his commitment to coaching youth baseball. He embraced everyday as a blessing with his on and off battle with cancer. He enjoyed spending time and making memories with friends and family. Steven was also an avid Muckdogs and Bills fan. He will be deeply missed but heaven has gained an angel.  

He is survived by his children; Nicole (Patrick Mutter) Clattenburg of Batavia, Steven (Jo Croll) Clattenburg Jr. of Illinois, Samantha Clattenburg of Kansas; siblings Brenda (Larry) Powers of Rochester, Jeffrey Clattenburg of Texas and Joanne (Jeff) Coyle of Brockport; along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

  Michael W. Porter, 65, of Churchville, passed away on January 26, 2021 at Unity Hospital, Rochester. He was born on July 24, 1955 in Batavia, to the late Carlton J. “Jack” Porter, Jr. and Dorothy (Klimajeski) Porter. He is predeceased by his brother, Stephen J. Porter and niece Dorothea Johnson.

Mike was a life-long farmer and owner of Porter Farms in Elba. He was an avid hockey fan, player, coach and supporter. His son Stephen now plays the game he loved so dearly. Mike was a loving husband and father.  

Mike is survived by his beloved wife Debbie (Beauregard) Porter, son Stephen A.   Larry D. Pendleton, 65, of Batavia passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Unity Hospital in Greece. He was born on March 4, 1955 in Wellsville, NY to the late Robert and Doris (Blue) Pendleton.

Larry worked for his family farm in Wellsville for many years.

Mary J. George, 90, of Batavia, passed away after a short stay at Premier Genesee on January 26, 2021. She was born on April 8, 1930 in Elba, to the late Stanley and Josephine (Swiergula) Zielinski. She is predeceased by her husband, Bernard George, grandson Alan, siblings, Stella Syzmanski, Sophia Kingdom, Ann Surman and Julian Zielinski.

Mary worked for Mullen Brother’s Office Supply Store in Batavia before becoming a wife and full-time homemaker. She loved attending family events, dining out, watching Lawrence Welk and polka music. Mary enjoyed traveling whether it be a local day trip or the family trips she made to Hawaii and Australia/New Zealand. She was proud to have been a contestant for the Elba Onion Queen having personally worked in the muck for her family. Mary spent her life caring for other people and will be dearly missed.

Mary is survived by her children, Douglas (Janet) George of Suwanee, GA, Daniel George of Stafford, Patricia (Mark) Grabosky of Fairport and Christina (Steven) Brown of Webster. Grandchildren, Sidney, Eric, Ross and Tabitha, siblings, Martha Tierney of North Tonawanda, Bruno (Dorothy) Zielinski of Batavia, Helen Klinkbeil of LeRoy, Jennie Seager of Albion, Frank (Jane) Zielinski of Elba, and sister-in-law Shirley (Thomas) Edbauer of North Tonawanda, along with many nieces and nephews.

Batavia - Maureen Roberta Feary, 94, of Batavia, passed away Wednesday, (January 27, 2021) at LeRoy Village Green in LeRoy.

She was born November 5, 1926 in London, England, a daughter of the late Robert Benjamin and Ethel May Rundle.

Mrs. Feary was a member of the Batavia First Presbyterian Church. She was a former employee of St. Jerome Hospital and Applied Business Systems. She was a prolific knitter and provided hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, blankets, and sweaters to many. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, and reading.

She is predeceased by her husband, William T. Feary; brothers Jack Phillips and Ron Phillips; a sister, Sheila Bowthorpe Sutherland; and son-in-law, James D. German.

Surviving are her children, Maureen German of Knoxville, Tenn., Brenda (Richard) Galliford of Batavia, William T. Feary, Jr. of Batavia, Geoffrey (Maureen) Feary of Rochester, Lynn (Michael) Dobbertin of Batavia, and Nancy Feary Havens of Batavia; grandchildren, Ian (Erica) Jermy, Melanie (Dan) Grubb, Jonathan (Sharon) German, Jennifer Blaszak, Katie (Scott) Neff, Sarah (Greg) Emerson, Meredith (Mark) Szcepanski, Emma Feary, Abigail Dobbertin, and Noah Dobbertin. 11 great-grandchildren also survive.

Batavia - Margaret Shannon, 87 of Batavia, passed away on Tuesday, (January 26, 202)1 at her home under the care of HomeCare & Hospice and her loving family.

Mrs. Shannon was born August 21, 1933 in Bartow, Florida a daughter of the late James C.  and Lucy (Johnson) Williams.

She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Batavia where she served as the Mother of the church. She loved the Lord and enjoyed time spent at church, singing, being with her family, and caring for children.

Margaret is the wife of the late C.B. Shannon; mother of the late Harold L. Peterson and Sandra Mays; and sister of the late J.C. Williams, Jr.

Surviving are her children, Alberta Williams of Florida, Nathaniel (Patricia) Williams of Albion, Joanie Evans of Batavia, Angela Johnson of Colorodo, and Rhonda (Mike) Thomas of Rochester, Charlene (Jerry) Saddler.  A host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Saturday, (January 30, 2021) from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at City Church, 210 East Main Street in Batavia, where Margaret Shannon Funeral Service will be held immediately following visitation at 1:00 pm.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Batavia.  In lieu of flowers, memorials on behalf of Margaret Shannon may be made to Union Bell Baptist Church, 407 Hollywood Farm Road, Stafford, Virginia 22405.  Where her grandson Clarence E. Mays serves as pastor.

  Mae Louise Dusen, 91, of Batavia, NY, passed away at Premier Genesee on Thursday, January 21, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on October 19, 1929 in Batavia to Charles and Carrie (Ross) Radley.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald, and her son, Richard. She was also predeceased by a sister, Angele (Peter) Weber, two brothers, Leonard (Anne) and Robert Radley, two sisters-in-law, Hazel (Tony) Mancuso and Viola (Edward) Martin, two brothers-in-law, Lloyd (Lois) and Earl (Genevieve) Dusen and a sister-in-law, Shirley Dusen.

Mae is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Cathy Dusen and by two grandchildren, Lara (Jason) McKee, and Brad (Michael Bleyle) Dusen. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Danica and Colton McKee, as well as three sisters, Rose (late Irving) Warner, Fran (late Robert) Lawrence and Florence (late Howard) Taft, along with a sister-in-law, Jeanette Radley, and a brother-in-law, Robert Dusen, plus many nieces and nephews.

Mae was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be missed by all who knew her. She spent the last several years of her life at Premiere Genesee Nursing Home where staff always remarked on her sweet personality and cheerful demeanor.

Byron - Dean E.  Sharp, age 61, of Byron, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at his home.

Dean was born in Batavia on October 24, 1959, a son of the late Edward C. Sharp and Eva Grace Starkweather Sharp.
 
A 1977 graduate of Byron-Bergen Central School, he was a member and deacon at North Bergen Presbyterian Church. Dean was very decorated, well-established and well-respected in the dairy industry winning numerous awards with Semex USA. In 1995, he was named the Outstanding Young Breeder Award, a prestigious honor in the dairy industry. He was a member of the NIOGA Holstein Association, Future Farmers of America, New York Holstein Association and served on the Western Regional Holstein Board. Dean’s life revolved around his family, grandchildren and his cows.

Dean is the husband of Carrie L. Casper Sharp. The two were married on June 10, 1983. He is also survived by his children; Jessica Sharp of Akron, Alicia (Dan) Brumsted of Bergen and Edward Sharp of Byron; grandchildren; Lila Sharp-Robinson and John Brumsted; his brother; Clifford L. (late Karen) Sharp of Byron; his sister; Diane (Stephen) Starowitz of Byron; his mother-in-law; Peggy Casper of Batavia along with several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his sister, Arlene Sharp.

Margaret (Peg) Meyer, of Corfu, passed peacefully on January 16, 2021 at the home of her daughter in Palm Harbor, Florida. Margaret was born on March 27, 1926 to Anna (Pundt) and Edward O’Neil of Batavia.  She was the second oldest of twelve children.  Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome P. Meyer and her son, Jerome P. Meyer II.  

Margaret began working as a cashier from the age of sixteen at the A&P store in Batavia, New York.  In her later years, Margaret became a dietary aide at the Erie County Home and Infirmary.  She remained active after retirement by caring for other elderly friends and volunteering in the community. 

A lifelong Catholic, Margaret was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Corfu, New York.  She enjoyed cooking and was known for her delicious, homemade pies.  Margaret also loved gardening and volunteering for various organizations including the Salvation Army and the Corfu Volunteer Fire Department.

Margaret is survived by four children, Ann Meyer, Joan (Jerry) Austin, Jean (Edward) Kelly, and Rita (Jeffrey) Fischer, four grandchildren, Thomas Hayn, Brian Hayn, Rachel Fischer and Jeffrey Fischer.  Two sisters, Ann (Jack) Smith and Marcella (Anthony) Saracini, and three brothers, Mike O’Neil, Charles O’Neil and Edward O’Neil Jr. also survive along with several nieces and nephews.

Having led an exercise class for seniors at the Corfu Presbyterian Church for many years, Margaret will be remembered for her boundless energy and kindness toward all. Her beloved grandchildren, Rachel and Jeffrey Fischer were also an important part of her life. 

A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for January 30, 11:00 A.M. at St. Maximilian Kolbe, 18 W. Main St., Corfu, New York.  There will be no calling hours.

  Catherine Elizabeth Doktor, 89, of Corfu, NY passed away in her home on Saturday, January 23, 2021, after a long illness.  She was born December 19, 1931 in Batavia, NY to the late Jacob and Marion (Base) Lang.  She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard (Benny), with whom she was married just shy of 67 years.  She was also predeceased by three brothers Richard, Gerald and Andrew of East Pembroke.  

She was the loving mother of Apryle (David) Carney of Irwin PA, Robin (the late Scott) Thompson of Bergen NY, Mark (Cathy) Doktor of Corfu, and Michael (Jessica) Doktor of Corfu.  She is also survived by one brother, Robert Lang of East Pembroke, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. 

Kate loved to garden and was proud of her beautiful flowers.  She enjoyed being a homemaker and loved being in the kitchen cooking and baking for her family, she made the best cabbage rolls.  She retired after 21 years as secretary at Darien Lake. She was also employed in earlier years as Program and Scheduling Coordinator for WBTA in Batavia; a job she really loved.   Kate was one of the founding members of the Cathie-Wild VFW post 9000 ladies auxiliary, and its first president.  She enjoyed playing bridge in her younger days with her girlfriends.  She was a devoted Buffalo Bills fan, and was so much fun being with during the game.  She was the best caretaker of many an ill family member, and gave of her time selflessly.  She will be deeply missed, but heaven has gained an angel.

Judith M. Florian, 77, of Attica, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 21, 2021. She was born May 7, 1943 to the late Norman and Ruth Buil. She attended school in Buffalo, NY and graduated from Bishop McMahon High School in 1961. Judith was a devoted wife to Michael Florian. They married in 1965 and made a life in Buffalo and later settled in Corfu, NY. Michael predeceased her in May of 2012. Judith retired from the Flint Farrell Agency where she sold insurance alongside her friend Margie Chaddock.

Over the years, she enjoyed traveling the country, being a devoted mother and wife, was an avid reader, enjoyed attending church services, going out to eat and spending quality time with family and friends.

Judith is survived by her two brothers, Bill (Donna) Buil and their children Renee, Bill and Barbara and Dan (Mary Ann) Buil and their children Jason, Thomas and the late Tracy Buil. Judith has two loving sons, Scott and Darin (Tracey) Florian along with grandchildren Matthew, Amanda (Matthew) Kastelic, Noah, Joshua and Sarah Florian and great grandson Lukas Kastelic.

Judith had the biggest heart and the most loving and kind soul. Her death has left a huge void in the hearts of all who loved and appreciated her. A celebration of her life and a mass will be held in her honor at a later date.
