PATRICIA A. BERMINGHAM

PATRICIA A. BERMINGHAM - Age 75, of Batavia, died peacefully Thursday afternoon August 14, 2014 at home while being cared for by her loving daughters and sisters. She was born July 24, 1939 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Lamendola) Panepento, also preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Bermingham in 1994, son, Robert S. Bermingham in 2010 and brother, Charles "Sonny" (late Joann) Panepento.

   Pat was a lifelong member of Resurrection Parish and enjoyed her devoted dog, Molly. She will be remembered as a wonderful, caring wife, mother, sister and grandmother.

   Surviving are her beloved daughters, Julie Bermingham of Rochester and Kelly (Kent R. Ewell) Bermingham of Batavia; loving sisters, Mickey (late Frank) Lachnicht, Mary Jane (Gary) Kiefer all of Batavia and Rose (Richard) Wright of LeRoy; grandson, Joshua R. Bermingham along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

   Family and friends are invited to attend Pat's Mass of Christian Burial 12:00 p.m. Monday August 18, 2014 at Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph's Site) 303 East Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. Entombment will be in the Monsignor Francis L. Schwartz Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery and memorials in her memory are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

Tessacca T. Tundo

Tessacca T. Tundo, 26 of Batavia, passed away on Thursday August 14, 2014. She was born August 3, 1988 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, to Timothy (Genienne) Tundo of E. Bethany and Jilleen (Richard) Schoonover of E. Bethany.

Tessacca enjoyed swimming and music especially the Beatles. She loved her dog Chichi.

Along with her parents she is survived by her daughter Natalia Cessna of E. Bethany; brothers Cosmo (Sarah) Tundo of Pavilion; Ricky and Emmitt Shcoonover of E. Bethany; sisters Taralee and Leigha Tundo of E. Bethany, along with 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

Rose Ranlett

Brockport - Rose (Martin) Ranlett, formerly a longtime resident of Corfu, passed away Friday (August 8, 2014).

Rose was the beloved wife of the late Herman Ranlett.

Rose was the devoted mother of Dr. Robert (Karen), Elaine (Dr. Richard) Chrzanowski, Timothy (Michelle), James (Cora), David (Cindy) and Nancy (Ryan) Peterson; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also survived by a brother, August (Laura) Martin.

There is no prior visitation. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Akron Free Methodist Church, 6 Scotland Road, Akron, NY 14001.

Marilyn Natoli

Marilyn Natoli, 72, of Burbank California formerly of Batavia passed away Thursday August 7, 2014 in California. She was born on December 13, 1941 in Batavia to the late Anthony (Carmela Zazzara) Natoli.

Ms. Natoli moved from Batavia in 1962 and she retired in 2013 from Sherman Oaks Community Hospital in California where she was a registered nurse. She loved to watch baseball especially the NY Yankees and LA Dodgers. She also enjoyed playing video poker in Las Vegas.

She is survived by her son Michael (Melissa) Camp of Burbank CA, daughter Debbie Gainey of Burbank, CA; brother Thomas (Sandra) Natoli of Chicago, IL, granddaughter Lindsy Gainey and great grandson Dillon. Marilyn also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends in California and Batavia.   

There will be no prior calling hours. Friends are invited to attend a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday September 13, 2014 at Resurrection Parish, 18 Ellicott Street Batavia, New York. She will be laid to rest in St. Josephs Cemetery, Batavia

EARL F. PUNDT

EARL F. PUNDT - Age 84, of Batavia, died peacefully at Rochester General Hospital on August 12, 2014 in Rochester. He was born October 8, 1929 in Batavia, a son of the late Harry and Pearl (Goodenbury) Pundt, also preceded in death by brothers, Harry & George Pundt.

   Mr. Pundt was a US Army Veteran and a longtime member of Resurrection Parish. He was a former member of the Elba Volunteer Fire Department, enjoyed fishing and miniature golf.

   Surviving is his beloved wife of 54 years, June A. (Thompson) Pundt of Batavia; loving children, Cheryl (Steve) Young of Batavia and Donald (Kathy McElfresh) Pundt of Akron along with 4 nieces, and a nephew.

   Private funeral services will be held by the family and burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorials in his memory are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

Sherwood J. Garigen

Sherwood J. Garigen, 104 of Darien Center, passed away on Wednesday August 13, 2014 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. He was born January 10, 1910 in Darien to the late John (Anna Ortner) Garigen. Mr. Garigen is preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruth (Schmelzle) Garigen; son Allen, daughter Lu Ann Lapp; brother James; sisters Marie Marzoff and Elma Garigen. 

Mr. Garigen worked on the Railroad for Erie Company for many years. He was a longtime member of the Darien Fire Company and loved to play Euchre. 

He is survived by his son Lee Garigen of Pike; daughter Sherry Garigen of Darien Center; son-in-law Chuck Lapp; daughter-in-law Barb Garigen both of Darien; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

STANLEY EDWARD TELGA

Stanley Edward Telga (aka Stan the Man) of Myrtle Beach age 80, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2014.

Born June 13, 1934 in Albion, NY he was a son of the late Stanley L. and Martha (Olzewski) Telga. Mr. Telga served in the U.S. Air Force Secret Service as a Radio Intercept Operator from 1952 to 1956.  He attained several awards and decorations. He received his Bachelor of Science degree at the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1972.  He was a Business Education Instructor for BOCES in Mt. Morris and Batavia NY, an Adjunct Professor for Genesee Community College and Mutual Teller at Batavia Downs Racetrack.  He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and an hourly coordinator for Perpetual Adorations and a member of the Intercessory Prayer Group.  Mr. Telga was also a member of the VFW and Moose Lodge.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernadine Swierzinski and Eleanor Ostrowski.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Janet (Teresi) Telga formerly of Batavia, NY; a son, Kevin (Margaret)  Telga of Myrtle Beach; a daughter, Teresa (Scott) Shaw of Myrtle Beach; a son, Brian (Michele) Telga of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, Cory Shaw of Myrtle Beach, Zachary and Alexis Telga of Rochester, NY; sisters, Shirley Zambito and Maxine Guzik both of Rochester, NY; sisters in law, Jessie Teresi of Batavia, NY and Margaret Teresi of Albany, NY and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be at Goldfinch Funeral Home Beach Chapel, Murrels Inlet on Monday, August 11, 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00PM.  A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 12,  2014 at St. Michael Catholic Church with inturnment following in the church columbarium.

Russell A. Shepard

LeRoy ~ Russell A. Shepard, age 80, of Clay Street, passed Sunday evening (August 10, 2014) at Unity Hospital in Rochester.

     Mr. Shepard was born February 5, 1934 in Batavia,  a son of the late Harry and Pearl Sage Shepard.

     Mr. Shepard and his late wife, Susan, will be remembered for their love of antique dealing and furniture refinishing.

     In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Susan M. Shepard and a daughter, Wendy Shepard.

     He is survived by his sons, Russell A. Shepard Jr., Richard (Linda) Shepard and Michael (Dena) Shepard; grandchildren, Thomas, Jamie, Michael, Nicholas, Wesley and Macy; his siblings, Ruby (Reid) Ackley, Dorothy (Peter) Kelly, Robert (Barbara) Shepard, Sandra (Gerald) Sherman and Sharon (Russell) Kelso, along with many nieces and nephews.

     Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 ~ 8 P.M.  at the Living Waters Church, 30 Main Street, LeRoy, where services will be held on Friday at 11 :00 A.M.  The courtesy of no flowers is requested with memorials suggested to the Living Waters Church.  Interment will follow in Machpelah Cemetery.

Kenneth R. Geedy

Kenneth R. Geedy, age 74, passed away at Englewood Hospital in Florida on August 8th 2014. He was born in Castile PA. Mr. Geedy resided in Castile NY on Silver Lake and spent winters at his Florida home in Englewood. Mr. Geedy worked in the carpet installation business his entire adult life. He was an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife Karen M. Geedy and children, Kenneth (Terry) Geedy, of Wilmington NC, Wade (Connie) Geedy, of East Bethany NY, Bryan (Amy) Geedy of Castile NY, Scherina (Todd) Beam of Shippensburg PA, step children, Jeffrey (Amy) Kramarz, of Silver Lake NY and Kenneth (Becky) Kramarz of Stafford NY and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Wyoming Cemetery in Wyoming NY at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Society.

Robert VanBuren

Robert VanBuren, 94 of Rochester passed away peacefully August 8, 2014 at St. Ann’s Home in Rochester. He was born July 3, 1920 in Albany to the late Cornelius (Blanche Kaplan) VanBuren. Mr. VanBuren is preceded in death by his first wife Mary Jane (Benion) VanBuren and his second wife Betty (Beaver) Hardie VanBuren.

Mr. VanBuren was a World War II Army Veteran. He retired as an Industrial Supervisor in Albany, before that he was at Attica Correctional Facility. Mr. VanBuren was a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church in Rochester, the Knights of Columbus, and loved to fish.

He is survived by children Katherine (William) Campbell; Mark (Susan), Brian (Robbie), Miles (Cindy) VanBuren; James (Betty), Robert (Janet) Hardie; Sue (Don) Townsend; Judith Hardie; Donna (H. Andrew) Fay; Nicholas (Katherine) Hardie; Mary Ellen (Chris) VanSon; William (Mary Beth) Hardie; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 AM, Monday August 11, 2014 at Sts Joachim & Anne Church 50 East Ave, Attica NY 14011. He will be laid to rest in St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Attica.

Anita D. Scott

Anita D. Scott of Perry died on Thursday August 7, 2014 at her home under Hospice Care surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Warsaw, New York a daughter of Louise Ellis Parker. Anita was a graduate of Perry High School. She was a bartender at the Vet’s Club in Perry and had worked prior at Scott’s Market in Perry Center selling fruits, vegetables and flowers. She was a member of the Perry Vet’s Club and the Silver Lake Sportsman’s Club. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, especially to Myrtle Beach, and the Adirondack and Poconos Mountains. Anita enjoyed the company of her family, friends and her two grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a sister; Tammy Reed who died in 1983, her maternal grandparents; John (Doshie Amburgey) Ellis Sr. and an uncle, Thomas Ellis.

Anita is survived by a Son Brandin Scott of Perry, her Mother Louise Ellis Parker of Perry, her Fiancé: Greg McClurg of Perry, 2 Sisters: Barbara Chapman of Perry, Sandra (Bret) George of Castile, 3 Brothers: Fred (Shannon) Reed of Filmore, Eric (Trish) Carr of Yorkshire, Todd Carr of Rochester, 2 Grandchildren: Jada Rae and Jacob Cole Scott, 2 special Friends Debbie Johnston and Vicki Bradner both of Perry, along with many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

John "Jack" Edward Ostertag

John "Jack" Edward Ostertag, 87, of Attica, NY, went to heaven Tuesday August 5, 2014. He was born to the late Ted and Alice Ostertag, October 21, 1926, in Attica and was married to the late Jean Zinke Ostertag. Jack and Jean had ten children: Suzanne, Jacque, Nancy, Mary, Jeanne, John, Bettie, Mark, Robin, and the late Patricia.

He was a Building Construction Engineer in Charge for New York State General Services Design & Construction Group and a Consulting Project Manager for Construction Management Companies. Jack was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines.  He was a regular at the American Legion, Moose Club and VFW. Jack was also an avid boater and fisherman. In his younger years he was a great athlete and loved bowling and golf.

A viewing will be held from 2:00–4:00 and 7:00–9:00 Monday, Aug. 11th at Marley Funeral Home, LLC. 135 Main Street Attica, NY 14011.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, Aug. 12th at St. Joachim & Anne Church 50 East Ave, Attica NY 14011.

Charlotte Puccio

Charlotte Puccio, 85 of Oakfield, passed away Wednesday (August 6, 2014) at Crossroads House in Batavia.

She was born in Medina, NY on August 11, 1928, a daughter of the late Anthony and Sophie Banazak Jablonski.

Charlotte enjoyed spending time with her family, trips to the casino and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish in Oakfield.

She was the wife of the late Frank Puccio, who passed away in 2004, mother of the late Dennis Puccio and sister of the late Laura Clark, Helen Capelli, Josie Ehrenreich and Matthew “Mitch” Jablonski.

Survivors include her children, Robert (Michelle) Puccio of Idaho, Gloria (William) Yantz of Oakfield and Ronald (Dianne) Puccio of Batavia.  Sister, Dorothy Corica of Williamsville. Brother, Edward (Carol) Jablonski of Virginia.  Also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

CHRISTOPHER BRIAN SKELTON

Oakfield - Christopher Brian Skelton, age 30, of Oakfield, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at his home.

Chris was born July 18, 1984 in Batavia, a son of Brian T. Skelton of Oakfield and Linda C. (Dan Duffy) Meldrum Skelton of Rochester.

A 2002 graduate of Oakfield-Alabama High School, Chris attended the University of Rochester where he studied economics and was enrolled in the R.O.T.C. program. He was previously employed as a truck driver for Perry's Ice Cream in Akron.

Chris participated in several triathlons’ in the area and ran in many marathons. He enjoyed water skiing and camping in the Adirondacks. An avid Buffalo Bills fan, he went to several games with his cousins, Jason and James. He enjoyed going to country concerts, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle but most of all cherished his time with his son, Mattox.

Surviving along with his parents are his son, Mattox Simms of Bath; his brother, Matthew Skelton of Oakfield; paternal grandmother, Elaine (late James) Skelton of Oakfield, an uncle, Kevin (Diane) Skelton of Oakfield; an aunt, Lyn (Robert) Maute of Batavia; several cousins, including Jason (Jackie Oetinger) Skelton of Chili and James (Nicole) Skelton and their daughter, Amelia Rose Skelton of Buffalo; maternal grandparents, William (Carol) Meldrum of Palm Springs, California; uncles, Richard (Elba) Meldrum of Florida and William (Lori) Meldrum of Waterloo and an aunt, Sandra Jones of Texas.

Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. Private burial will be in Cary Cemetery. ELSIE M. WOODWORTH (TIBERIO-ELLIS)

ELSIE M. WOODWORTH (TIBERIO-ELLIS) - Age 91, formerly of Batavia, died peacefully at home on May 30, 2014 in Fort Myers, FL. She was born August 29, 1922 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Tito Tiberio & Margaret Mondo (Torcello-Tiberio), also preceded in death by her husband, Deane P. Woodworth; step-father, George J. Mondo; brother, Nicholas J. Tiberio and daughter, Sherry Woodworth-Farnsworth.

   Elsie was a loyal member of the Batavia High School Class of 1939 and was employed by New York Bell Telephone Co. (1950-1977) and was a life-time member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

   Her faith was the core of her life, as a member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, she was active in the Altar & Rosary Society and was Director of the Catholic Youth Organization. In 1965 she received the Pro Deo Et Juventute Award from the Bishop of Buffalo for outstanding service, loyalty and devotion to youth.

   Wherever she lived, Elsie believed in service to her community. In her young adult years in Batavia, she volunteered at St. Jerome's Hospital and while living in Stafford, NY, she belonged to the Stafford Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

   She expressed her youthful spirit through dance, tennis, golf and quality time with family and friends. She was an enthusiastic supporter of her grandchildren, attending many special activities. Elsie was proud to be a devoted New York Yankee, Buffalo Bills and University of Notre Dame Football fan.

   Surviving are her loving children, John Ellis, Ann Marie Ellis, James Woodworth, Susan (James) Woodworth-Moore and Susan (James) Flagg; her legacy includes 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.

   Family and friends are invited to attend Elsie's Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 9, 2014 at Ascension Parish, corner of Swan & Sumner Streets.
