Bergen - Donna R. Pringle , 79  of Bergen passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022, peacefully surrounded by her loving family in Bergen, NY.

Donna was born Friday, March 19th, 1943 in Brockport, New York, daughter of the late Merton Reynolds and Ethel D John. She married Richard A Pringle, in January 1962. Donna graduated from Byron-Bergen Central Schools and later became a licensed hairdresser. She worked for Gilette/Sullivan insurance in Bergen and later as an associate for Wegmans in Brockport, until her retirement. 

She was active in the community as a member of the Bergen United Methodist Church, and the Gillam Grant Community Center. Donna enjoyed painting, gardening, crafting, and spending time with her family and friends. Donna was a wonderful grandmother that loved spoiling and playing with her grandchildren and new great-grandbaby, Ella 

Surviving are her children, Rich (Susan) Pringle and Deb Klieger; grandchildren, Richard (Taty) Klieger, Sarah Klieger, and Samuel Pringle; brothers, Richard Reynolds, Gary (Bernie) Reynolds, and Jim (Robin) Reynolds; sister, Sharon (John) Lohman and many nieces and nephews. 

Donna is predeceased by her husband, Richard A. Pringle; parents, Ethel D John and Merton Reynolds, and special friend, Tom Fischer. 

Burial will be at Mount Rest Cemetery, Bergen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Friends and family are welcome to a celebration of life following the burial from 1 P.M. to 4:00 p.m. at the Rose Garden.  Burial will be in Mt. Rest Cemetery in Bergen, NY.

  Mary Grace Demarse, 81, of Batavia passed away on December 6, 2022. She was born in Buffalo on August 9, 1941 to the late Henry J. and Teresa Marie (Koller) Poorten Sr. In addition to her parents, Mary is predeceased by her husband; Robert M. Demarse; brothers Henry Poorten and William Poorten SJ.; sister Eileen M. Poorten.

She is survived by her step-children; David (Sandra) Demarse and Denise Demarse of AZ; brother Robert J. (Sonja) Poorten of Walworth, NY; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Mrs. Demarse got her Master’s Degree from Canisius College. She began her career as a math teacher and went on to finish as a guidance counselor in the Buffalo City Schools, she was also a member of the Buffalo Teachers Union Board. Mrs. Demarse was a member of Genesee Orleans Ministry of Concern, most recently as Treasurer, she was very passionate about the GOMOC. She enjoyed actively volunteering in the community. Faith was a big part of her life, she was a longtime member of Resurrection Parish in Batavia.

Edgar J. Hollwedel age 91, passed away at home on December 5^th, 2022. 

   

  Edgar was born on May 16^th, 1931 in Brooklyn NY.  Edgar was the Director of Vocational Education for the City School District of Rochester for most of his career.  He also completed a dream to build and open a campground, now known as Lei-Ti.  His family supported him prior to his retirement from the city school district in making this dream possible.

     He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Louise; his children, John (Sheila), Robert (Jodi); step-children, Elaine (Robert Reyes) Shell, Eric Shell, Walter Shell and Jonathan (Lisa) Shell; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

     There will be no prior calling hours.  Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

LeRoy ~ In loving memory of James Edward Leach, age 64, who passed away on December 5, 2022 at home.

  

   He was born January 24, 1958 in Batavia, a son of the late Raymond and Dorothy Alexander Leach Sr.

     James will be remembered for his love of family.  Being with them was his biggest joy in life.

He will be sadly missed by Deanna Leach, Tiffany Macey; brothers, Raymond Leach Jr., Michael Leach and Dontist Hunt; sisters, Sandra Leach, Sharon Leach, Alecia Futch, Tasheenia Bennett (Wright), Yolanda Henderson and Patty Infante, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

     In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Joyce Leach.

Batavia - Sara M. Allison, 60 of Batavia  passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

Mrs. Allison was born May 11, 1962 in Batavia a daughter of the late Carmon and Muriel (O'Connor) Parise.

Sara was an avid bingo player, often attending games at the Alabama Fire Hall. She enjoyed going to basket raffles and flea markets, where she was a vendor of handmade jewelry for a number of years. Mrs. Allison liked to color and spend time with her family and friends.

Her husband, Nelson E. Allison and her son Nelson E. Allison, II precede her in death.

Surviving are her children, Justin Cowell of Albion, Ratana Allison of Albion, April (Christopher Bisig) Allison of Batavia, and Christopher (Samantha Barker) Allison of Corfu; step-daughter, Katy Allison of Albion; grandchildren, Danielle, Aidan, Dilon, Malachy, Chaston, Lily, Adara, Logan, Levin, and Lukas, who is expected any day; brothers, Daniel (Deborah) Parise of Florida, and Timothy Parise of Florida. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Donald F. Ryan - Holley NY, 89, passed away December 4, 2022, in the arms of his daughter.  Don was born March 20, 1933, a son of the late Franklin and Mabel Ryan.  Mr. Ryan was the oldest active member of the Holley Fire Department, Fire Police and Fire Marshall.  Don served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.  He enjoyed working on his farm and taking care of the waterfowl, of which each one had a name.  He also treasured his dogs.  Don’s greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren. 

Don was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Darl (Gillette) Ryan, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandy & George Bower, nephew, Edwin Bower and siblings, jerry, Betty, Russell, Fredy and Lucille Ryan. 

Survived by his son, Kevin (Elaine) Ryan of Holley; daughter, Kelly Ryan Valente of Batavia; grandchildren, LeeAnna (Dan) SanFilippo, Nicholas (Carmen) Valente, Jesse (Ashleigh) Valente; great-grandchildren, Ryan SanFilippo, Michael Vito Valente, Josefina Lynn Valente, Salina Rose Valente; several nieces, nephews, cousins. 

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, 16650 Route 31, Holley, NY., on Sunday December 11, from 1:00-4:00pm followed by his funeral service at the funeral home at 4:00pm.  Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in the spring with military honors.

Everett H. “Skip” Coon, was received into the arms of his Savior on Monday, December 5, 2022 at the age of 90.

He was born on September 30, 1932 in Westerly, Rhode Island, a son of the late Walter Coon and Beatrice (Hunt) Coon. Mr. Coon married the former Phyllis Sue Jewell on December 18, 1971. The couple had two daughters and resided in Wyoming, NY for more than 40 years. In 1973 Mr. Coon graduated from the Elohim Bible Institute. Mr. Coon worked as a lineman for National Fuel Gas, retiring in 1995 following 30 years of service. A man of strong faith, Mr. Coon was a member of the East Shelby Community Bible Church. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed biking. Mr. Coon was also an avid letter writer, enjoyed photography and reading history books, magazines and especially the Bible.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of over 50 years, Sue Coon; daughters, Sue Ellen (Ben) Clark and Amy (Levi) Olsen; four grandchildren, Natalia, Elise, Lillian and Josiah Olsen; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by six siblings, Walter Coon, Susan Mosseau, Bernie Campbell, Grace Coon, Herb Coon and Beverly “Belle” McCarthy.

Janell E. Wood, 32, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, peacefully but unexpectedly at her home on Saturday morning, December 3rd, 2022 in Batavia, N.Y. Janell was born in Batavia on March 29, 1990 to her parents, Robert G. and Michelle J. Wood, and was raised at Forest Lawn Farm. A 2008 graduate of Byron-Bergen High School, she went on to graduate from both Genesee Community College and SUNY Brockport College with degrees in Business Administration. She was employed as a Data Coordinator with the University of Rochester Primary Care locally in Batavia. 

Janell is survived by her parents, Robert G. and Michelle J. (Worthington) Wood, her best friend and sister Diane J. (Chris J.) (Wood) Deleo, beloved brother Eric R. (Caryn L.) (Burk) Wood, and cherished nephews, Justin and Joel Deleo. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Janell is predeceased by her grandparents, George and Elinor Wood and Donald and Elaine Worthington. 

Janell was a patient and kind servant to the Lord. She was a favorite and trusted babysitter to many local families who all loved and cared for her deeply. She was extraordinarily generous and giving to family, friends, and strangers alike. An active servant at Northgate Free Methodist Church, she frequently volunteered with childcare services, and always unselfishly offered her time and talents to those in need. 

Janell loved growing up on the farm and being involved in 4-H while showing cows at the Genesee County Fair. She continued that love by always helping her nephews prepare their animals for the Fair as well. She loved playing cards with her family, going to ESP tractor pulls, and watching basketball; especially her favorite team Syracuse. She was also an avid supporter of both of her nephews in all of their many teams and activities. 

Janell was extremely thoughtful, dependable, and a person that everyone could rely on. She thought of everyone else before herself. She is and will forever be profoundly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

LindaKay S. Beaumont , 78, died unexpectedly on Nov. 30,2022 at home.

     She was born April 4, 1944 in Batavia , NY the daughter of the late Dr. Raymond T.  and Frances M. Schmelzle .

     LindaKay graduated from LeRoy HS Class of 1963 and Bryant and Stratton in 1965.

 

 Married to Dennis Beaumont, they celebrated 48 years of marriage this past July.

     In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Sonja Rae; her grandson, Shaun Ryan Niccloy; in-laws, Mary Kunego Beaumont and Eugene Sanford Beaumont and closest friend, Kathy Rich.

     Surviving in addition to her husband, Dennis Beaumont, are her daughters, Robin Niccloy

(Steve Musson), Jodi Lyn Teed (Steve), Tammi Beaumont (Sal); son, Tim Beaumont (Debbie); nine grandchildren, T.J., Phil and Cody Niccloy, Jennifer, Stephanie and Samantha Merica, Chrissy King, Katie Mignano; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Richard Schmelzle and his wife,  Laurine of Toronto Canada; brother-in-law, Eugene Beaumont (Linda) of LeRoy; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

     LindaKay worked for Genesee Community College for over 44 years.  She was a founding member of the LeRoy Fire Auxiliary; a loyal volunteer of the America Red Cross and LeRoy Food Pantry, as well as a member of the Oatka Queens and a lifetime member of the LeRoy Presbyterian Church.

     Besides her love for her family, she was known by her endearing nickname “Crazy Nana”, her crocheted blankets, playing Euchre and hanging beachside at Gravel Ponds with her friends.

     A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023 at 1 PM at the LeRoy First Presbyterian Church, 7 Clay St.  A Reception will immediately follow the service.

Youngstown, Florida – Gregory R. Smith, age 64, passed away on November 25, 2022 at Ascension Sacred Heart Bay in Panama City. 

He was born on January 16, 1958 in Batavia a son of Elma L. Glor Smith of LeRoy and the late John R. Smith.

A 1976 graduate of Alexander Central School, he graduated from Ithaca College with a degree in human resources. He retired from Bordon Dairy in Atlanta and moved to the Panama City, Fla. area shortly thereafter.  Greg, an avid NASCAR enthusiast, loved fishing and the outdoors.  He was never without a fishing pole – even carrying one in the trunk of his car for lunchbreaks. 

Surviving along with his mother is his brother, Jeffrey R. (Theresa) Smith of LeRoy; nieces and nephews, Maggie (Edward) Augugliaro, Allison (Vincent) Paolotto, Matthew Smith and Ryan (Elizabeth) Smith; aunts, Arlene Teal, Aggie Smith, Nancy Rieks and Judy (Nicholas) Cecci along with several cousins.

Patricia A. MacConnell, age 78, passed away peacefully November 29, 2022.

   

  Patricia was born on March 17, 1944 in Batavia, NY to Anthony and Theresa (Tenney) Bartz.  

     She is survived by her beloved husband, Larry MacConnell of 34 years. Patricia enjoyed traveling with her husband, friends and family, sewing, painting, and spending time with her friends in Naomiś Circle. She was the best Mom and Nana to her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchild, always taking the time to play with them and attend their sporting events. Her greatest joys were being a wife, mom and nana.

     Besides her husband, Patricia is survived by her daughter, Lori (Matthew) Laney; grandchildren, Caitlyn (Jacob) Swiatowy, Joshua Bradley, Jacob Laney and great-grandson, Mason Swiatowy; step-children, Deborah Johnson (Ray Coniber), Dwight MacConnell (Vicki Chatel); step-grandchildren, Ashley MacConnell, Katherine MacConnell and Victoria MacConnell; siblings, Eloise Brown, Gerald Bartz; sisters-in-law, Norma Bartz and Rosie Bartz (Ed Olczak). Patricia is predeceased by brothers, Norman, Richard and Gary Bartz; sisters-in-law, Nancy MacConnell and Shirley (George) Hankey. Also surviving are her very special nieces and nephews; Jodi (Bob) Hollwedel, Lisa Wall, Paula Dean, Gary Bartz, Cheryl (Tony) Hurd, and Jim (Cheryl) Bartz; she is predeceased by nephews, Duane Brown and Joseph Dean.

     Patricia was a loving, kind and generous spirit, always putting others before herself. Her presence and smile would light up a room. Our lives will never be the same without her.

     There will be no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the Bergen Methodist Church on Tuesday, December 20th at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest in the presence of immediate family at Grandview Cemetery in Batavia.

David Eugene Wood, a lifelong resident of East Bethany moved into glory to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday November 26, 2022. He was born April 14, 1937 to Wendell Wood and Shirley (Harding)Wood. He is predeceased by his parents and a brother Wesley Wood.

David was proud of his heritage having been a Harding family descendant from Connecticut and would reminisce with family/friends regarding his family’s ox cart wheel at the local Holland Land Office Museum. He was a wealth of knowledge regarding the history of East Bethany. David was a 1956 graduate of Alexander High School where he met his first wife June Embt. He was a member of the FFA as well as a band member.

He is survived by his loving wife Ellen of 39 years,  best friends Pat Pietryzkowski and Wyatt VanBuren, his brother Howard (Linda) Wood in Florida, his sister Kolina Rae Cole in Pennsylvania, nieces and nephews, and his daughter Denise (Scott) Mathewson of Vestal NY, daughter Ruth Bodkins of East Bethany NY and a son Paul (Christine) Bodkins of Hampton VA. and the seven grandchildren he loved and adored-Benjamin David, Autumn, Bethany, Andrew, Marissa, Shawn and Lucas were a joy in his life, speaking highly of the accomplishments the older grandchildren have completed and believing in a bright future for the younger ones.

David enjoyed time with his grandchildren reading or telling them stories, getting them involved on “the farm”, riding the tractor, working in the garden or feeding the alpacas.
David was a social person and never met a stranger. He was a 14-year member of the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department, had a dairy farm in East Bethany with his father for many years. He drove a tractor trailer for Convenience Store Distribution Company delivering groceries to convenience stores as an independent NY representative. He had 3 years Accident Free driving for CSDC. Dave worked for a few local companies hauling milk before retiring at age 65. He then started his retirement career working as a machine operator with Whiting Door in Akron for 10 years then in 2015 he retired to home life.
David enjoyed music and often played “name that tune” with Ellen on road trips. She often times heard him whistling while working around the farm. They shared an interest in horses and participated during their early married years with the Attica Rodeo.

He was loved by many and will be missed by all. We’re not saying goodbye, we’re saying “til we meet again”.

LeRoy ~ Philip J. O’Geen, age 85, of Franklin Avenue, passed away on Wednesday (November 30, 2022) at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

   

  He was born December 11, 1936 in LeRoy, a son of the late Joseph and Pauline Maloni O’Geen.

     Phil will be remembered as a very caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend to many.  He lovingly provided the care that his wife, Jo Ann needed for many years.  Phil was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and well-known businessman in the community where he and his brother carried on the family restaurant business, the Casino Restaurant.  He was also an avid golfer and bowler and set bowling records at the LeRoy Lanes.

     He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jo Ann Cotter O’Geen; his sons, Mark (Sarah) Tomaszewski and Donald O’Geen; granddaughters, Conor (Travis) Bleier, Krysta Tomaszewski, Anna O’Geen and Leah O’Geen; siblings, Frank (Rosie) O’Geen, Salvatore (Joan) O’Geen, Joseph (Donna) O’Geen and Connie Cecere, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

     Phil was predeceased by his siblings, Palmina “Pam” O’Geen, Sarah (John) Zinni and James O’Geen.

Janet L. (Ward) Ivison, 86, of Byron, passed away on November 30, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Janet was born March 20, 1936, in Batavia, a daughter of the late Stanley and Gladys (Russell) Ward.

Janet was a member of the Genesee County Fair Society, South Byron Fire Auxiliary and the former South Byron United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher.  She was also a member of the Diabetes Association, Byron Historical Society, Genesee County Fish and Game Protective Association and South Byron Girls Drum Corp.  Janet was a former coach for the Byron Little League, former den mother for Pack #13 and a retired registered nurse with Genesee Memorial Hospital and the Genesee County Health Department.  She was a former secretary of the architectural committee, secretary of the home owner's association and member and committee member of the Just Us Girls organization, all in Holiday Park in North Port, Florida.

Surviving are her children, Mark Ivison of Byron, Dean Ivison of Byron, Lori Ivison of Byron and Lisa (Mark) Ellingham of Bergen; grandchildren, Jason (fiancée Erica Alcott) Ivison of Bergen and Kali Ellingham of Bergen; great-grandchildren, Gabriella, JJ and Colton Ivison and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Homer D. Ivison and sisters, Joyce Kaiser and Joan Dudley.

Calling hours are Sunday, December 4 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street in Batavia.  Janet's funeral will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest in Byron Cemetery.

  Stanley Michael Dombrowski, 59, of Batavia passed away on November 30, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on April 21, 1963 to the late Stanley and Lorraine (Palone) Dombrowski.

Stan was a machinist / mold maker for over 40 years. He was a big car enthusiast that loved anything with a motor and enjoyed drag racing with his family. His favorite thing to do was play with his granddaughter and he was always in the garage working in his free time. He was a “Jack of all trades” and enjoyed music, history, cooking, carpentry and spending quality time his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years; Sheri (Pilc) Dombrowski; his son Stanley J. Dombrowski; daughter Kelly M. Dombrowski; granddaughter Raven L. Radam, along with his uncles; Al (Ginger) Palone and Russ Columbo; close cousins Frank (Tammy) Scopano, Kathy (Don) Engle, along with many close friends.

Stan was a man with a big heart and an even bigger sense of humor that touched the lives of so many people in his short time on this earth.

Stan and his family would like to thank the nurses and doctors who cared for him at Lipson Cancer Center here in Batavia as well as Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

There will be no prior calling hours or Services as to his wishes.
