MARYANNA M. SITZLOW – Age 77, of Batavia, died Tuesday morning September 3, 2013 at Buffalo General Hospital. She was born July 30, 1936 in Lancaster, NY to the late John & Martha (Rogacki) Dudkowski, also preceded in death by brothers, Edward, Joseph, John, Walter and Henry (late Betty Lou) Dudkowski.  

   She was a tireless 20 plus year volunteer at the Batavia VA Medical Center. A life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Holley, she enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and loved her cat, "Pause". Maryanna will be remembered as a loving, caring mother, sister and grandmother.

   Surviving are her loving children, Sharon (Van) Vanvolkinburg of Darien Center, NY, Karen (Mike) Ciociola of LeRoy and William R. Sitzlow II of Tonawanda; sister, Verna (late Robert) VanSchoonhoven; sisters-in-law, Patricia, Elizabeth, Marcia and Lucy Dudkowski; 3 grandchildren, Randy Charles (Lindsay) Vanvolkinburg II, Toni Rose Edwards and Roxanne (Tim) Corey; 1 great-grandchild, Anna DeVay along with several nieces and nephews.

   Mrs. Sitzlow's wishes were to have services held privately by the family and memorials in her memory are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

Richard Carlton Glor, 87 of Batavia and formerly of Attica, passed away peacefully on Monday (September 2, 2013) at the Genesee County Nursing Home. 

He was the loving husband of Mildred Francis Glor of Batavia and the late Ida Elizabeth Glor.  Dick was also the father of the late Linda Glor Stonebraker of PA, Abby (Jeff) Kohl of Corfu and Lynn (Cynthia) Francis of Henrietta.  Grandchildren, Lisa Kohl (John Almendarez) of NC, Kathleen Kohl, Sarah Kohl and JoHannah Kohl of Rochester, Brent (Eileen) Francis of NC, Emily (Todd) Rosenzweig of Rochester, Bradley (Amy) Francis of Conesus, Brent and Heather Stonebraker, formerly of PA.  He also leaves behind great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Dick was the brother of the late William Glor, Evelyn Biggins and Helen Biggins.

Dick grew up in Attica, the youngest son of Carlton and Olivine Snyder Glor.  His family, the Snyders, were some of the earliest settlers in Wyoming County. The Glors were farmers and loggers in Orangeville, and Dick was the grandson of Paul Phillip Glor, a Union soldier during the Civil War.

Dick also served in the military overseas in both Germany and Japan in World War II.  After returning home he married and raised his family in Attica where he worked and retired as a Stationary Engineer from the Attica Correctional Facility. He was also very active in the union there for several years.  He was a member of the Attica Fire Dept. for many years and during that time, he served as President and was instrumental in obtaining scanners for the department.  Dick loved football and the Buffalo Bills, harness racing and bowling on several leagues.  He also spent many years boating on his favorite lake, Conesus.

All who knew Dick enjoyed his wit and great sense of humor.  He had a lot of really good advice; always look twice when crossing double train tracks, enjoy your children it is the best time of your life and most important, no matter what comes your way, be a survivor.  And he was usually, always right.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share memories, condolences and thoughts on Friday from 4-8pm at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 Bogue Ave., Batavia, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, 9:30am at Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph’s Church).  Interment with military honors will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Attica.

Batavia - Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Bliss, 67, of Batavia, passed away suddenly on Saturday, (August 31, 2013) at the United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.

Mrs. Bliss was born March 1, 1946 in Sodus, a daughter of the late Zenus and Virginia (Greene) Hutchinson.

Ann's children and grandchildren were her world.  She loved doing crafts, cooking, working word puzzles, and Archie Comics.  She also enjoyed attending Chinese Auctions.  For many years she was a babysitter for several children in Bethany.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Bliss, Sr., whom she married in 1964; her children, Donald (Christine) Bliss, Jr. of Sardinia, Keith (Susan) Bliss of Savanah, GA, Scott (Kelli) Bliss of Batavia, and Shawn (Alicia) Bliss of Huntsville, AL.  20 grandchildren as well as several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews also survive.

Ann is preceded in death by a sister, Debra Hutchinson.

Batavia - Mrs. Nancy T. Talbot, 75, of Batavia, passed away Saturday, (August 31, 2013) at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester, following a brief illness.

Mrs. Talbot was born January 26, 1938 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late Alan and Thelma (Potter) Mellenthein.

Nancy greatly enjoyed cooking, gardening and playing cards; but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Marvin F. Talbot, of Batavia, children, Theresa (Robert) Dearcop of Corfu, Kathleen (Clifford) Platek of Batavia, Marvin (Victoria) Talbot of Indiana, Lanny Talbot of Chili, and Jeannine (Jody) Balon of Attica; a brother, Tom (Rosa) Mellenthein.  18 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survive.

Nancy is preceded in death by a grandson, Douglas Wandtke, Jr as well as brothers and sisters.

Jason M. Jewett, 31, of South Byron, passed away on Friday August 30, 2013 due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident inEden. He was born on May 30, 1982, in Batavia, to Joseph F. (Joyce E. Howard) Jewett III of Batavia. Jason was a Federal Agent at the Immigration Customs Enforcement & Deportation facility in Batavia along with being one of 13 instructors for the Special Response Team. He loved his job as an agent. Jason raised Siberian Huskies, was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed doing roofing projects. He was a patriot that loved his country especially the Wounded Warriors Project.

Jason is survived by his parents; brothers Joseph (Arlene) Jewett IV of Attica; Jeffrey Jewett of Basom, sister Jennifer (Ted) Elliott of Attica along with 9 nieces and nephews, one great-niece, one great-nephew, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ana Rosa Rodriguez, 55, of Batavia, died peacefully on Tuesday (August 27, 2013) at Buffalo General Hospital.

She was born November 22, 1957 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, daughter of the late Juan Pablo Gallo and Cristina Tejeda Bardales Cardona.

Survivors include two sons, Luis Rodriguez of Batavia, Pablo Mejia Bardales of Belize. Daughter, Ana Mejia Bardales of Batavia.  Grandchildren, Hogen and Isaac Mejia.  Also survived by several brothers, sisters and other relatives.

Friends and family may attend a celebration of Ana’s life on Saturday from 12pm-2pm at New Hope Church, 8052 Bank St., Batavia.  Interment will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Elba, NY.

MARY C. IANNELLO – Age 96, died on Tuesday August 27, 2013 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Averill Park, NY while under care from The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County. She was born in Batavia, NY on July 9, 1917,  a daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie (Gaeta) Faso, also preceded in death by her husband, John J. Iannello who died in 1978, son, John S. Iannello in 1985 and sisters, Celia Corcimiglia, Sara Pontisso, Rose Fusco, Josephine Joy and brother, Joseph Faso.

   Mrs. Iannello was a 1935 graduate of Batavia High School. She was a senior stenographer for the Genesee County Probation Department and later, a senior account clerk for the Genesee County Department of Social Services-Child Support Unit for a total of 25 years. She retired in 1982. A member of the former St. Anthony's Church and a past member of its Altar and Rosary Society along with the American Legion Auxiliary Post #332. After retiring Mary volunteered at the Genesee County Nursing Home. Before coming to Averill Park, Mary resided at the Manor in Batavia and greatly enjoyed her many friends there.

   Surviving is her loving son, Richard (Anne) Iannello of Averill Park, NY; daughter-in-law, Immaculata Iannello of Batavia, NY and her sister, Geraldine (Dominic) Pollino of Batavia, NY. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Christine (Steve) Bachtel of Houston, TX, John (Kathryn) Iannello of Williams, AZ and Joseph Iannello of Albion, NY; five great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, brother-in-law, Charles (Carol) Iannello of Kenmore, NY; sisters-in-law, Joan Iannello of LeRoy, NY, Jan Nicosia of Williamsville, NY and dear friend, Shirley Clark of Batavia.

   Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020. Charles W. Hephner, 71, of Alexander, passed away on Sunday August 25, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born November 9, 1941 in Hillsdale, MI to the late Harold (Alice Carrie) Hephner. Mr. Hephner spent 20 years in the United States Navy, he worked for a long time at Sabin Metal and also drove a truck for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He loved having coffee with his buddies. Mr. Hephner proudly found the Lord later in life and dedicated himself to prayer. He is preceded in death by his brother Carl Hephner.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife Kathy (Snyder) Hephner of Alexander; sons Kelly J. (Dana) Delikat of MD; Joseph Delikat of Oakfield.

As per Mr. Hephner's wishes his body was donated to the University of Buffalo Medical School. A 1:00 PM Memorial Service will be held at the Bethany Fire Department and will be officiated by Rev. John Hatch of the Pentecostals of Genesee, United Pentecostal Church on Saturday September 7, 2013.

JUDITH ELAINE HALL – Age 61, longtime Batavia City School District teacher, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital. She was born August 11, 1952 to the late D. Earl & Esther (Pape) Bolles.

   Judi obtained her undergraduate and masters degrees in mathematics from SUNY Brockport, and began teaching in 1978. Her amazing teaching career spanned 30 plus years and touched the lives of thousands of students. She was an avid golfer and scored an epic hole-in-one on Terry Hills' signature island hole #14. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, RV-ing, tutoring, and an occasional trip to the casino. She loved her family vacations to Beckers, amusement parks, and Disney World. Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren, pets (Midnight, Jayden, Dakota), and the love of her life, Scott.

   Surviving is her beloved husband of 35 years, Scott Hall of Batavia; loving children, Amy K. (Jason) Harris of Michigan and their children, Matthew John & Elizabeth Kristine; David W. (Ashley) Hall of Batavia and Philip S. Hall of Colorado; brothers and sisters, late Daniel (Ruth) Bolles of Florida, Constance (Robert) Hummel of Kenmore, late Donald (Anne) Bolles of Texas, Richard (Joann) Bolles of Nevada, Janet (late Robert) Widmann of Florida, her twin brother, John (Liz) Bolles of Oregon and Carol (Daniel) Schrantz of Williamsville; sisters-in-law, Sharon Michie of North Carolina and Lynn Sutherland-Bolles of Colorado; sister-in-law, Wende (Sidney Richard) London of Batavia; brother-in-law, Ronald (Shellye) Dale-Hall of Elba; mother-in-law, Dorothy B. Elizabeth DiCenso – Age 82, longtime Oakfield resident, died peacefully Wednesday evening August 21, 2013 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home with family at her side. She was born December 2, 1930 in Poggio Picenze, Italy (L'Aquila), daughter of the late Attilio & Mary Louise Centi, also preceded in death by her husband, Pasquale "Patsy" DiCenso on October 7, 1984.

   Elizabeth's amazing life story begins as an only child having survived bombings in her hometown during WWII and making her way to the United States in 1946. She graduated from Oakfield-Alabama Central School, Rochester Business Institute (RBI) and in 1953 boarded the Andrea Doria, sailing to Italy to be reunited with the "love of her life" Patsy, whom she married on June 14, 1953. Following a honeymoon in Rome, they travelled back and settled in Oakfield to begin their life together, proud and mindful of their Italian-American Heritage, days filled with hard work, always focused on family and their church. Elizabeth was an entrepreneur and owner of the Oakfield Lauderettes along with several other rental properties. She active member of Parish Outreach, St. Joseph's Table and The Altar & Rosary Society of St. Padre Pio Parish (formerly St. Cecelia's). Liz loved to travel back to her home country of Italy and in the U.S. Family and friends will remember her authentic Italian cooking, namely "Gnocchi's and Pizzelles", her beautiful rose bushes and her love for the "Chicken Dance". Elizabeth's greatest gift and legacy will always be her generous love for family, friends and church, her beautiful warmth will be forever missed.

   Surviving are her beloved children, Jean "Jeannie" DiCenso of Oakfield and her children, Tara Marie (fiancé, Nolan) Ingalsbe and Ryan (Rachel) Ingalsbe; David (Diana) DiCenso of Alpharetta, GA and their children, Christian David DiCenso and Danielle Marie DiCenso; Joseph DiCenso of Oakfield and his daughter, Serena Elizabeth Strollo-DiCenso; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

   Visitation will be from 2-7 PM Sunday August 25, 2013 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020 where prayers will be recited 9:15 AM Monday August 26 followed by a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial, St. Padre Pio Parish 56 Maple Ave. Oakfield, New York 14125. Liz will be laid to rest alongside her beloved Patsy, in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials in her memory be made to St. Padre Pio Parish.

Gerard I. Willis “Jerry”, 78 of Spencerport, formerly of Batavia, died peacefully Wednesday (August 21, 2013) at the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center in Rochester.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 22, 1935, a son of the late Irving and Helen Mcdonaugh Willis.

He graduated high school from St. John Preparatory School in Brooklyn.  Gerard served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and upon honorable discharge, attended the University of Buffalo.  He was the operator/owner of the Goodyear Shoe Repair that was located on Jackson St. in Batavia.

He was the husband of the late Providence “Prudy” Varco Willis who died November 10, 2000.

Survivors include three daughters, Jeanine Vendetta of Rochester, Lisa (John) Sprague of Spencerport and Christa (Doug) Palmer of Batavia. Son, Steven Willis of Rochester.  Son-in-law, David Vendetta of Rochester.  Also survived by eight grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Robert Willis.

Corfu - James "Jake" Rudnik, 75, of Corfu, passed away Tuesday (August 20, 2013) at the Genesee County Nursing Home.

He was born May 6, 1938 in Lancaster, a son of the late Frank and Mary Rudnik. Jake was a union carpenter for the Local 9 in Buffalo.

He is survived by his wife, Rosanne (Gazzo) Rudnik of Corfu; loving Dad of Timothy (Kathy) Rudnik, Dawn May, David (Kelly) Watts, Robin (late Donald) Neyman, Kim (Joseph) Ebeling and the late Deborah Watts. Also survived by 18 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 4 siblings. Predeceased by 3 siblings.

There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc. 4 East Main Street, Corfu. Refreshments at his residence following the service.

Corfu - Dorothy S. Bartlett, 86, went home to her loved ones in heaven, Tuesday (August 20, 2013) at the New York State Veterans Home, Batavia, surrounded by her family.

There will be a celebration of life for Buddy who recently passed away in Colorado.

Roland “Bud” Bower Jr., son of Roland and Vivian Bower of Leroy, is survived by his wife, Marietta Stevens-Bower and children Julie, Cheryl (Donnie), Heather (Johnny) and Kevin (Jennifer) Bower, and stepchildren Tim, Tom and Mike Stevens. He is also survived by his brothers, Barry (Suzanne), Brian (Kate), Robin (Mary), Craig (Pat) and sister Candace Bower, along with many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bower was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bruce, daughter Debra Lynn, mother-in-law Isabele and his stepson Danny.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, August 24th, 2013 at the home of his sister Candace Bower, 10 Wilson St., Le Roy. Please join us between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and help honor this wonderful man.

Bergen ~ Carole Ann Hemmer Alianell, age 78, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, August 16, 2013 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

     She was born September 9, 1934 in Wayland, New York to the late Fred and Harriet Hemmer. 

     Mrs. Alianell was a retiree of the Taylor Instrument Company in Rochester after 25 years of service as their payroll clerk.

     She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Alianell, her children, sons, David Alianell of Rochester and Dr. Sam (Alice) Alianell of The Woodlands, TX, daughter, Diane (John) Carson of Sanford, NC, her beloved grandchildren, Albert , Amy (Tony), Colton, Jeshua & Sammy and great grandsons Aiden and Austin, sisters Marilyn (Donald) Pursel of LeRoy, Jean (Ron) Pangrazio of LeRoy, brothers Jim (Mickey) Hemmer of CA, Tom (Joanne) Hemmer of CA and many loving nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Butler, and a brother and sister in law, Charlie and Kathleen Alianell.
