Obituaries

rupe.jpg  Louise N. Rupe, 83 of Corfu, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. She was born on March 11, 1938 in Yorkshire, NY to the late Donald and Kathryn (Rice) Tullar. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Ernest Tullar.

Louise had been an active volunteer in church ministries throughout her life which included Sunday School teacher, Youth Group Ministries and Women's Bible Study teacher. She also served on Lay Witness Missions, having participated in over 50 weekend missions throughout New York, Pennsylvania and Florida. Louise volunteered in nursing homes and Prison Ministries in Albion Correctional Facility. She was past President of the Women's Aglow Fellowship in Batavia and Vice President of Leadership on the Genesee Valley AGLOW area board. She and her husband, Marvin, led a Grief Share Group for 26 years. Her other interests were in crafting and she was past member of the Holland Land Office Museum Quilt Guild. She devoted many years of her life babysitting other children in her home.  

Louise is survived by her childhood sweetheart and beloved husband of 65 years, Marvin Rupe of Corfu; her children, Randol (Janice) Rupe of Syracuse, Debra (Daniel) Athoe of Batavia, Cynthia (Robert) Bucci of Oakfield, Laura (Paul) Thurber of Basom, Daniel (Catherine) Rupe of Fairport; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to an 11:00 AM Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Northgate Free Methodist Church, 8160 Bank Street, Batavia, NY 14020. She will be laid to rest in Indian Falls Cemetery, Corfu.

Albion - Bonnie Joyce Rosenbaum, 62 of Albion passed away on Monday, (November 1, 2021) at her home in Albion.

Mrs. Rosenbaum was born October 11, 1959 in Auburn, California a daughter of Roberta (Stice) Wilson of California and the late Pawle Wilson.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and raising dogs and tropical fish. She was a long time bar tender at Tillman's Village Inn.  

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Alan H. Rosenbaum of Albion; a son, Phylip (Leanna) Montgomery of California; step-children, Shana (Mike) Parton of Rochester, and Jonele Given of Rochester; grandchildren, Mason, Ethan, Alec, Norma Jean, Liam, Jameson, and Peyton; a great-granddaughter, Ariella Rosenbaum Dedee; brothers, Rondy and Kevin Wilson both of Washington.

There will be no visitation. Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Pavilion ~ Mary S. Strobel, age 92, of Lake Street, passed away Monday morning (November 1, 2021) at home in the loving presence of her family.

   mary_strobel_0.jpg  She was born January 11, 1929 in Crogan, N.Y., a daughter of the late Royal and Nina Cratsenberg Smith.

     Mary will be remembered as a loving and proud wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, who enjoyed knitting and crocheting gifts for her family, especially for all of her grandchildren.  She also assisted her husband, Al, with the family business, Strobel's Auto Electric.

     She will be sadly missed by her children, Sharon Grube of FL, Bruce (Mary) Strobel of Tonawanda, Nancy (James) Morthope of GA, Larry Strobel of LeRoy, Deborah (Don) Cahail of MO and Joan (Andrew) Stevens of Mt. Morris; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Rev. Herbert R. Strobel of PA; Fresh Air Fund Daughter, Debbie Farr, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

     Mary was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of almost 70 years, Albert;  brother-in-law, Ralph W. "Billy" Strobel and sister-in-law, Marge Strobel.

     Family and friends may call on Thursday, Nov. 4 from 11 AM ~ 1 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy.  Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Pavilion.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to either the Pavilion Fire Department or the Pavilion United Methodist Church.

Joan P. Pask, 69, of Batavia, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Medina Memorial Hospital.

Joan was born on July 26, 1952, in Batavia, a daughter of the late Ralph and Floralyn Johnson Lawrence. She was the grandmother of the late Maleia Lawrence.

Joan was a 1970 graduate of Pembroke Central School. She worked for many years at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia and also for UPS. Joan devoted her life to her family and her greatest joy was just spending time with them.

Joan is survived by her children Jason (Jessica) Lawrence of Attica and Jamie (Jonathan) Hoca of Batavia; 5 grandchildren; 3 step children, Michael Pask, Michelle Pask (late Jason) Murphy and Denise Pask; 3 step grandchildren and the father of all the children. She is survived by her sisters, Donna (Albert) Bangert of Massachusetts,  Roxanne (Scott) Ross of Corfu; brothers, Bill (Annie) Lawrence of Corfu and Richard (late Judy) Lawrence of Texas. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

Family and friends may call Wednesday, November 3, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary Inc., 4 East Main Street, Corfu. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Corfu.

dorisknab.jpgDoris Potter Knab, 88, of Varysburg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. Doris had lived in Varysburg for 60 years, until recently when she moved to the Manor House in Batavia. 

Born on March 21,1933, she was the daughter of the late James and Esther (Heinz) Potter. Doris was predeceased by her husband George; and brother Sonny (James Jr.) Potter.

Doris was employed by the New York State of Corrections for 25 years. She began as Payroll Clerk at the Attica Correctional Facility and finished her career as Head of Personnel at the Wyoming Correctional Facility.  Doris and George were dedicated Buffalo Bills fans and season ticket holders for 55 years.

Doris was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her four children David (Gail) Knab, Debi (Roger) Hogan, Laurie (Steve) Valenti, Kim Morris,  and her grandchildren Timothy (Natasa), Meghan (Patrick) Little, Lisa (Eric) Riley, Joseph Valenti and Justin Morris.  She is also survived by her in-laws John(Joan) Knab and Ann (Don deceased) Corwin and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 11 Washington St., Attica, NY 14011.

Basom - Dennis P. Radley, 64 of Basom, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 at his home.

Dennis was born Saturday, March 9th, 1957 in Batavia, a son of  Francis Radley of East Bethany and the late Shirley Alvut Radley.

He was employed at O-AT-KA Milk Products for over 39 years.

Surviving along with his father is his wife of 36 years Florine Smart Radley; children; Kristina (Jason) Heale of Oakfield and  Jason (Jessica) Falker of Pittsford, Vermont; four grandchildren; Elijah and Melody Falker; MacKenzie and Tyhler Wood; brothers, Roy (Judy) Radley of LeRoy, Thomas (Barbara) Radley of Stafford, Kenneth (Lorie Yasses) Radley of Batavia and Ronald (Julie) Radley of Batavia; sisters, Deborah (Jerry) Klotzbach of Basom, Judy (Michael) Anderson of Stafford and Susan (William) Meier of Corfu and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his brother Gregory Radley.

Friends may call on Monday, November 15, 2021 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, November 16 at 11 am at the funeral home. Memorials in his name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Daniel Fragnito, 69 of Cancun Mexico, formerly of Batavia, passed away on June 14, 2021 in Mexico.

He was born January 7, 1952, a son of the late Carmen and Mary Ann Pope Fragnito.

Daniel is survived by his sister, Rosemary (Richard) Dever of Lockport and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be privately held at the convenience of the family with entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery

carolo.png  On October 26th, 2021 Carol J (Goodwin) Oehlbeck passed away.  Carol was 87 years old.  Throughout her life Carol lived in New York, and after retiring in 1994 from New York State Department of Correctional Services she moved to Florida to enjoy the sunshine. Carol always enjoyed having visitors, indulging in sweets as well as the latest gossip.

Carol is survived by her six children: Susan, Thomas, Steven, Daniel, Charles, and Julie, her seven grandchildren, and her six great-grandchildren.

A private service will be held graveside at Beachwood Cemetery in Kendall, New York.

lang.jpg  Joseph J. Lang Jr. 58, of Batavia passed away on Friday October 22, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born on September 14, 1963, the son of Joseph J. Lang Sr. and Pamela (Winkstern) Lang.

Joe loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be sadly missed by many.

He is the brother of Jayme (late Dara), Jeffery and the late Jackie; brother in law of Tina and Bruce Luck; Uncle to Kylee, Kalob, Autumn, Storm, and Katelyn, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins
