The towns of Oakfield and Alabama are having a joint Public Information meeting on Wednesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. at the Alabama Fire Hall, 2230 Judge Road, Oakfield to discuss a proposed Water District on Townline and Macomber roads.

HomeCare & Hospice's 21st annual Spring Bouquet Sale March 4-5

The HomeCare & Hospice Guild’s 21st Annual Spring Bouquet Sale is set for March 4 and 5.

Traditional bouquets, consisting of nine vibrant floral stems, and a larger Bouquet of Hope, consisting of 18 floral stems, will be for sale at HomeCare & Hospice offices in Batavia at 29 Liberty St. (and 450 N. Main St., Warsaw).

BHS presents the beloved Broadway musical 'Annie'

The Batavia High School Production Club will present the Broadway musical "Annie" on Saturday and Sunday, March 7-8, in the auditorium.

Times are:

Saturday -- 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Sunday matinee -- 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Cost is $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors. Presale tickets are $8 for adults, and $7 for students and seniors and they are available at the high school's main office.

'Catch the Wave' - Get registration and enrollment help at all GCC campus centers

All six GCC campus center locations are hosting a "Catch the Wave" educational opportunity providing enrollment and registration services to community members Tuesday through Thursday, March 31, April 1 and April 2 starting at 9 a.m. and continuing through the day as needed.

The Sports Collectors Expo at Batavia Downs

Eighteen former professional sports greats will be appearing for autograph signings at The Sports Collectors Expo at Batavia Downs on Saturday, Feb. 21st, 10 a.m to 4 p.m. in Batavia. The casino is located at 8315 Park Road.

Appearing that day for autograph signings and a photo opportunity will be Marv Levy, coach of the Kansas City Chiefs (1978–1982) and the Buffalo Bills (1986–1997), coaching the Bills to four consecutive American Football Conference championships. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001.

Tattoos and piercings today for charity at High Voltage

High Voltage Tattoo will be holding its annual charity today from Noon to 8 p.m.

Tattoos will be $35 -- designated lettering styles and designs only -- and $15 piercings.

All money raised from the tattoos, piercings, jewelry, aftercare products, T-shirts and tips will be donated to Justice for Children Advocacy Center in Batavia, Volunteers for Animals and HomeCare & Hospice.

'Wheels for Payton' fundraiser for teen needing medical equipment

“Wheels for Payton” will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. this Saturday, Jan.10, at Oakfield-Alabama High School. It will include a spaghetti dinner and basket raffle. Pre-sale tickets are $6 and the tickets bought at the door will be $8. The food can been eaten there or taken home. All proceeds will benefit 13-year-old Payton Malloy, who has multiple, chronic disabilities and needs medical equipment (wheelchair, stair lift, etc.). Second annual Christmas in the Park at Elba Village Park

The second annual Christmas in the Park, a lighted tree celebration representing area families, businesses, churches, etc. will take place starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Village Park.

Also, there will be a ceremony and Christmas sing along with Santa, refreshments and fun!

The Elba Betterment Committee announces that Christmas trees go on sale from now until Nov. 25th and cost $30. Order forms available at Chap's Elba Diner.

Batavia Ramparts Youth Hockey holds Homecoming at Falleti

This Saturday, Nov. 1, is Homecoming for the Batavia Ramparts Youth Hockey Association. The theme of this year’s event is “Pink the Rink.” Special festivities start at 9 a.m.

Games start at 10 and our State qualifying Midget 16U team plays at 8 p.m. against Rochester Youth for 1st place in the division.

All of the Batavia Ramparts youth hockey teams playing home games will be showcased. Games will be played at all levels all day long so please join us at Falleti Ice Arena, 22 Evans St., Batavia for some great hockey.

22nd Annual Halloween Parade in the city

The 22nd Annual Halloween Parade will take place this Sunday, Oct. 26. Line will form starting at 12:45 p.m. on the west side of Genesee Country Mall/City Centre near Dan's Tires.

Small children MUST be accompanied by an adult. Wagons or sleds strongly recommended.

Parade begins at 1 o'clock. There is no rain date. Listen to WBTA for cancellations by 11:30 a.m.

The first 100 children 10 and under in costume only will receive a special free gift compliments of Oliver's Candies.
