Photo: The ice cream man rolls through Batavia
Tyrone Gantt, of Rochester, came out to Batavia today to visit his granddaughters and thought he would bring his ice cream truck along.
He said he's never brought the truck with him before, but people kept telling him there was no ice cream truck in Batavia and it might be an opportunity for him.
After the response he received today he said, "I should come out here more often."
When he stopped on Maple Street around 6 p.m., people -- adults and children -- came running (some, really running) from all directions.
His granddaughters are Sharmaine Powell (pictured in the truck), Jykiya Powell and LaQueasha Taylor.
East Bethany holds annual ice cream social
West Bethany Baptist Church's annual ice cream social will be held from 4 until 7 p.m., Saturday, June 26 at the church, located at 10333 W. Bethany Road.
The event and the food are free, including hamburgers, hot dogs, sloppy joes, baked beans, chips and, of course, ice cream sundaes and milkshakes.

Blueberry Fest & Cruise-In
The Indian Falls United Methodist Church is sponsoring a Blueberry Fest & Cruise on Saturday, July 25th from 4 - 8 pm. Antique cars, tractors and other items of interest. Food for purchase. Pie, milkshakes and sundaes - all blueberry! Live music with the Phelps Family Band. Everyone is welcome!
