The Justice for Children G.L.O.W. Foundation is pleased to announce that they are going to be embarking on a major renovation of the Justice for Children Advocacy Center in 2019.

Through collaboration with Genesee County, the Justice for Children G.L.O.W Foundation, the Kiwanis Club of Batavia, the First Presbyterian Church of Batavia, and many individual and corporate donors, the Justice for Children Advocacy Center will have a home that fully meets the needs of all of the children and families that visit the Justice for Children Advocacy Center – today and well into the future!

Thanks to a generous offer of a long-term lease from the Church, the Foundation will be using the funds raised by the Kiwanis Club of Batavia and donations from the community to renovate the current location at 304 E. Main St.

The evolution of this plan truly was a community effort, and sends a valuable message to the children and families in our communities who have been impacted by abuse: You are not alone. Your community supports you. We are all willing to work to keep you happy, healthy and safe.

The community is welcome to attend an open house on Wednesday, Jan. 9^th  from 9 to 11 a.m. to learn about the plans for renovating the Justice for Children Advocacy Center.

The Justice for Children GLOW Foundation Lip Sync Battle scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 6, at Center Street Smoke House in Batavia has been cancelled.

The third annual "Bidding on a Brighter Future" gala and auction was hosted by the Kiwanis club of Batavia on Saturday night at Genesee Community College's forum. Big turn out, lots of auction items -- all signs of a hugely successful event.

Proceeds will go to the Child Advocacy Center/Justice for Children Foundation to provide the CAC with a permenant building for its operations.

No word yet on how much money was raised or the final total of attendees, but it was a full house.

Tickets are $25 per person and include a served lunch and dessert.

Wear your special tie or carry that one-of-a kind purse to the second annual Ugly Tie and Purse Luncheon! Our panel of guest judges will decide who deserves top honors and you could win a fabulous prize! What’s most important is that you will be supporting critical programs for children who are victims of abuse.

To support the mission of the Child Advocacy Center located in Batavia, community members formed a 501 (c) 3, not-for-profit corporation, the Justice for Children GLOW Foundation, Inc. The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is managed by a division county government, and is funded solely through grants received from the Crime Victims Board and philanthropic donations.

The CAC exists to reduce the potential trauma a child victim experiences by bringing together members of the legal, medical, social services, mental health and victim advocate professions in a non-intimidating home-like environment and reducing the number of times a child-victim is interviewed.

In the past, interview locations have included: police stations, hospital emergency rooms, social services, district attorney’s office or even the location of the abuse, if it occurred in the home. Each is a location that would prove overwhelming and threatening to a child suffering from abuse.

The use of the CAC with its multi-disciplinary approach helps to enhance criminal prosecution and can strengthen family court dispositions that are in the best interest of the child.

Services provided by the CAC include a child friendly atmosphere, medical evaluations, educational presentations, professional training, forensic interviews, counseling, information and referrals. There are no charges for services provided by the CAC.
