Over the upcoming months, the Genesee County Highway Department will undertake multiple projects across the county that will temporarily impact local travel routes. 

Fargo Road Bridge: 

A bridge replacement project will begin on April 18 in Bethany, to upgrade the current bridge on Fargo Road over Black Creek near Route 63 and Little Canada Extension. The bridge will be closed during construction, with a designated detour in place. Construction is expected to continue until the end of August.

Oak Orchard Road Bridge: 

The Oak Orchard Road Bridge over Oak Orchard Creek in Elba will be closed starting April 15 for a superstructure replacement. The bridge will be closed during construction, with a designated detour in place. Once completed, the bridge will reopen for full legal loads. Construction is expected to continue until approximately June 1.

Junction Road Bridge:

Junction Road between Covell Road and Hartwell Road in Pavilion will be closed to all traffic during working hours (typically 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.), Monday through Friday, starting on Monday, April 15 for a bridge repair. The project is expected to be completed by the end of April depending on the weather.

Perry Road Paved Shoulders Installation:

Perry Road in Pavilion will undergo shoulder paving starting April 15. The road will be closed during work hours (usually 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.), Monday to Friday, but local residents and emergency vehicles will have access. Work zones will change daily, starting between Route 19 and Route 20. This project extends from Route 19 in the north to Route 63 in the south and is expected to finish, weather permitting, by the end of April.

Residents and commuters are advised to plan alternate routes and expect temporary inconveniences during these construction periods.

Perry Road, an essential roadway in Genesee County, is undergoing major improvements as part of a broader infrastructure enhancement initiative. Over the next few weeks, some road closures will occur as the project kicks off.

The project's main focus is replacing outdated cross culverts. These new smooth-bore plastic pipes are designed to handle more water and have a longer lifespan than the old corrugated steel pipes. 

Currently, work is happening near BW's Restaurant in Pavilion, where three culverts are being replaced. The project will then move north to a location approximately half a mile south of Route 20, between Rodgers Road and Route 20. Additional phases will address two pipes about a quarter-mile north of Route 20 and the central area of a new campground being developed on Perry Road. 

Please drive with caution as asphalt binder patches have been applied to pavement cuts. While not perfect, they will be in place through the winter. "ROUGH ROAD" signs are posted to alert drivers. 

The project is divided into several phases: 

1. Cross Culvert Replacement: Ongoing work to upgrade failing culverts. 
2. Ditch Maintenance: Scheduled for this fall or the upcoming spring, involving opening and cleaning ditches on the roadsides.
3. Road Widening: In spring 2024, the road will undergo milling and filling to widen the shoulders. 
4. Final Road Topping: Late summer/fall 2024 will see the road topped Hot Mix Asphalt. 

The goal of this project is to transform Perry Road into a fully rebuilt road, improving its functionality and durability.

To all motorists, businesses, and property owners along Commerce Drive, Federal Drive and Treadeasy Avenue in the Town of Batavia:

Due to regional rain delays on other projects this project is being delayed a day. The new schedule for Commerce Drive, Federal Drive and Treadeasy Avenue is for paving to occur on Oct. 12 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Paving will begin on Commerce Drive and Federal Drive.

Once work is complete paving operations will move to Treadeasy Avenue (portion of roadway between railroad tracks near Summit Lubricants TO city-line). 

All efforts will be made to maintain access to and from the properties. Properties will experience delays in access while paving through driveways.

Motorists will experience changing traffic patterns to include one-way movements, temporary closures, and flagging operations as the paving project progresses. All efforts will be made to get motorists to and from their destination with minimum delay.

This work is weather dependent. If work is delayed it will be rescheduled for the next available date.

A sewer force main will be installed starting next Tuesday, Oct. 10 with work lasting for approximately two weeks. 

The sewer will cross River Street just north of South Main and will run south on River Street along the eastern sidewalk and grass area where it will connect to an existing sewer on South Main Street at the River Street intersection. 

The road will be open-cut and plated until the work is complete, then the asphalt will be patched, and the sidewalks restored. Work will take place between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. during weekdays.

All efforts will be made to maintain access to and from the properties. Properties and drivers will experience delays during the road crossing and the road restoration work. The sidewalk along the east side of River Street will be closed.

Motorists will experience changing traffic patterns to include temporary one-way movements, temporary stoppages, and flagging operations as the work progresses. 

All efforts will be made to get motorists to and from their destination with minimum delay. The work is weather dependent and poor weather could extend the timeframe.

Commerce Drive and Federal Drive will be paved on October 11 and 12 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Paving will begin on Commerce Drive and Federal Drive. Once work is complete paving operations will move to Treadeasy Avenue (a portion of roadway between railroad tracks near Summit Lubricants TO city-line).

All efforts will be made to maintain access to and from the properties. Properties will experience delays in access while paving through driveways. 

Motorists will experience changing traffic patterns including one-way movements, temporary closures, and flagging operations as the paving project progresses. All efforts will be made to get motorists to and from their destination with minimum delay.

All through traffic will be closed on Thursday along Richmond Avenue between Union Street and Vernon Avenue in the City of Batavia. This closure is to mill and resurface damaged pavement, and the closure will extend into the late afternoon of Friday.

All motorists that regularly use these streets are asked to seek alternative routes while the closures are in place.  Businesses and residents within the area of the closure should anticipate delays.

This work is weather dependent and subject to rescheduling if it rains.

On Monday July 10, Fairmont Avenue, Hart Street, and Norris Avenue (between State and Bank streets) in the City of Batavia will be closed to all through traffic. 

This closure is expected to be between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. in order to perform cold milling on the roadway surfaces. It is expected to be a milled surface for a two-week period while sewer structures are repaired. Street repaving will follow and a press release will advise of exact dates.   

 All motorists that regularly use these streets are asked to seek alternative routes while the closures are in place.  Businesses and residents within the area of the closure should anticipate delays, but we will do our best to accommodate getting you to and from you residence or place of business.

This work is weather dependent and subject to rescheduling if it rains.

All motorists please be aware that Bank Street, Chandler Avenue and Ross Street will experience traffic delays on Tuesday, August 30th and Wednesday, August 31stfrom 7AM to 3PM for a resurfacing operation. 

While work is being performed in this area, local traffic will be permitted to and from their residence/property but should plan accordingly for delays.

All residents/businesses within the work area are asked not to park on the roadway during the operation.
