(Fan Palm- St. Kitts)

The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.  ~St. Augustine

JOE: Good morning Calliope.
CALLIOPE: Good morning Joe. I haven't heard from you in some time other than you last newsletter.
JOE: I told you I would be traveling.
CALLIOPE: Tell me about it.
JOE: I was on a cruise to the Southern Caribbean. We stayed a night in San Juan and then visited St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. Kitts, Dominica, and Barbados.
CALLIOPE: Sounds like great fun. Did you get anything done while you were gone.
JOE: I read a couple books. But I only wrote in my journal once and decided not to take my laptop with me. They have a computer center on board but I couldn't tell you where.
CALLIOPE: A real vacation. Did you meet any literary types?
JOE: I dined with a group of twelve, one of whom has published a book. Unfortunately the din in the dining room was not conducive to intimate conversations beyond shouting across the table.
CALLIOPE: So you didn't discuss craft with him.
JOE: I didn't. The only creative endeavor was photography of our activities and adventures.
CALLIOPE: Glad to have you back.
JOE: I'm glad to be back except for the cold. I suffered a sixty degree drop between the San Juan and Rochester airports. Brrr.
CALLIOPE: Spring is coming.
JOE: None too soon for me. Talk with you later

(San Juan-Condado Coastline)

JOE: Good morning Calliope.
CALLIOPE: Good morning Joe. How are you today?
JOE: Rested after a peaceful and interesting weekend.
CALLIOPE: How did you spend it?
JOE: Doing a little tweaking on my website on Saturday and entertaining friends at night. Yesterday I got out the cross country skis, did some reading and watched the Super Bowl.
CALLIOPE: And now you are back at the computer.
JOE: You noticed.
CALLIOPE: I did. What's up this week?
JOE: I will be away next week and I am busy trying to decide how much to keep in contact. Gerry would suggest I leave my correspondence and writing behind for the week. Carol already did suggest this.
CALLIOPE: What are you considering?
JOE: I thought of an autoresponder for my email. I am considering continuing my blog although I have never used a shipboard computer. I might try sending some blogs but haven't decided about this yet.
CALLIOPE: It might be an adventure.
JOE: It might but it might also entail aggravation and expense I do not need.
CALLIOPE: I guess I'll have to wait and see.
JOE: I guess so. Talk with you tomorrow.

JOE: Good morning Calliope.
CALLIOPE: Good morning Joe. I wondered what became of you the past few days.
JOE: I thought you might. I took my computer in for service and thought I could use my backup computer to contact you.
CALLIOPE: What happened?
JOE: It's a long story. Suffice it to say that it took me until now to get Internet service working on my backup computer.
CALLIOPE: Glad to have you back. What's been going on?
JOE: I spent Saturday and Sunday at Honeoye Lake, one of the Finger Lakes, with Carol and friends.
CALLIOPE: A little vacation?
JOE: Very short but quite enjoyable.
CALLIOPE: Any work on your writing?
JOE: I did some reading, more of Poisonwood Bible. I also wrote in my journal but that's about it.
CALLIOPE: Where do things stand with Marital Property?
JOE: My backup copy is not quite up to date so I will wait until I get my good computer back, hopefully tomorrow.
CALLIOPE: An in the mean time?
JOE: I have some cleaning and organizing to do around the house. I think I will work on that for today. I'll talk with you tomorrow if everything is still working.
