A lot can change over four decades.

Eleanor Swimline remembers that when she and her husband, Harold "Red" Swimline, first started running The Family Diner on Pearl Street Road in West Batavia in 1980, eggs and toast cost 50 cents, coffee was a dime, and a hamburger or slice of pie was a quarter.

"Everything changes over the years," Swimline said. "I've had a lot of things change over the years.  It's hard to describe all of the changes."

Daughter of West Batavia couple earns bachelor's degree in Nutrition https://www.thebatavian.com/billie-owens/daughter-west-batavia-couple-earns-bachelors-degree-nutrition/29851 Maria J. Brockenshire, daughter of Norman and Mary Brockenshire of West Batavia, has graduated from online Kaplan University with a bachelor's degree in Nutrition.

She also graduated from Provo College in 2009 with an associates degree in Medical Assisting. Brockenshire is a 2005 graduate of Genesee County's BOCES GED Program.

She currently resides in Tonawanda and is employed at People, Inc.
