Genesee Community College proudly announces that the following students are among 540 students who were named to the President's List for the Spring 2012 semester. Students honored on the President's List have maintained full-time enrollment and earned a quality point index of 3.75 (roughly equivalent to an A) or better. Christopher Snyder, son of Amy and Wayne Snyder, of Darien Center, has enrolled for fall 2012 admission at Rochester Institute of Technology. Christopher will study bioinformatics in RIT's College of Science and is a 2012 graduate of Alexander Central High School.

Wells College recently awarded the Academic and Student Life awards at the annual Honors Awards Dinner ceremony. Prizes are given out each year to students that show exceptional work, commitment, or leadership in a specific area, or those that demonstrate skill or specialization within their field. These prizes are announced by faculty, staff, and student leaders at a special dinner for the campus community.

Chelsea Czechowski, class of 2012, a biological and chemical sciences: biochemistry and molecular biology major from Darien Center, earned the Nancy Ann Reed Chemistry Prize, awarded to a member of the graduating class for excellence in chemistry.

Wells College is a nationally recognized private coeducational liberal arts college located in Aurora, New York, on the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake. An investigator for the Sheriff's Office investigating a reported burglary on Griswold Road in Darien Center, just found out that the home next to it has been ransacked and a number of items stolen. The location is in the 10,000 block of Griswold Road.

The spirit of Christmas is alive and well on Bonnie Brae Road in Darien Center, at least as far as the decorations go.

But apparently those very same decorations have caused a commotion outside, under the bright, new pretty winter moon, among some neighbors there. They are "separated at this time," says the dispatcher.

Sheriff's deputies are en route to handle the dispute.
