Jon Powers to start campaigning for Alice Kryzan

I hate robocalls. I hate any unsolicited call from people, organizations or businesses I don't know -- political, telemarketing or otherwise.
For voters of Genesee County, they're about to get one more caller: Jon Powers.
The D&C reports that Powers is going to record a robo call for Alice Kryzan, the 26th district congressional nominee for the Democratic party.
Powers lost to Kryzan in the primary and recently endorsed his former opponent.
Powers will also be in the district between now and election day making public appearances on behalf of Kryzan.

You'll notice we don't much report endorsements. You sent me the D&C endorsement of Kryzan and we didn't do anything with it. If you had posted it, it would have been fine, but I just didn't want to attach my name with making a big deal about an endorsement.
I'm not convinced endorsements sway many people.
I would rather we try to maintain a certain level of independence. I would rather feel free to make as honest as possible assessments of each candidate and their issues. You could say Kryzan has been getting a little more favorable ink from The Batavian recently than Lee, but that doesn't mean that if Kryzan did or said something we didn't agree with (or if Lee's campaign submitted something critical of Kryzan, or favorable to Lee), we wouldn't put it on the home page.
As much as possible, we want to give voters both (all) sides and trust them to make their own informed decisions.
I don't think they need us telling them how to vote, nor does it seem appropriate.
Our structure isn't such that we have editorial boards or ever speak with an institutional voice. We'll leave that to the media with the big iron. We're more about putting news and views out there and letting people talk it through and make up their own minds.
