Senate's comedy of errors takes new twist

By Howard B. Owens

OK, so it isn't local, but the wranglings of the state Senate provides its own odd and pathetic form of entertainment.  Now, Sen. Hiram Monserrate, who originally bolted from his Democratic caucus to support insurgent Republicans, has decided to return to the fold.

Meanwhile, the Senate politicians can't decide who is in charge and a judge, like a kindergarten teacher during recess, may step in and decide who gets to play with the ball for while.

Well, at least while the Senate is even more dysfunctional than usual, Albany can't do much more damage to the state.

A while back an article was posted about an individual who was looking at the constitionality of overthrowing NY state government and starting over. I can't recall the details of the article because quite frankly it seemed a little fringe to me at the time. Given the events of the last week it doesn't seem so fringe now. Does anybody remember the article? I searched a ways back in the Batavian archives and couldn't find it.

We've had posts about secession, which makes more sense all the time, especially after this Queens-sponsored "Farm Death Bill," and on the founding of the new Whig party, but this post doesn't ring a bell.

Yes Jeff I remember some posting a comment like that but I think the topic wasnt actually to do with Albany specifically, or at least the Headline of initial post. I sure aint looking for it. lol.

The Dems removed Malcolm Smith as majority leader to get the defector back.

But oddly he stays as majority leader because of the law suit...

Sounds like business as usual
