I seriously hope and pray that a viable candidate will step up to oppose Andrew Cuomo before he destroys what is left of NY, whether it be a Republican or a viable 3rd party candidate, but Trump is a joke!!
The Donald would be like a Bull in a China Shop if elected to Governor. He is too head strong and to use to getting his way, ever to be in an elected position which requires diplomatic discussion and compromise.
I get the sentiment towards Trump and I agree that I would not be a supporter BUT if we keep asking whether someone should run based on perceived viability, then we will never get past the 2 party gridlock. Anyone who is passionate, qualified, and committed should run...or is it those who run should be committed?
I'm all for him running just as much as I'd be for anyone else that wants to run. Personally, though, I think Trump is a loose cannon. He's unpredictable and inconsistent. I do not believe he's the only candidate that can knock Cuomo off of his throne. I'm hoping that in the November election, more people turn out to vote and that they vote not for Cuomo. I can't bring myself to vote liberal or conservative, so if that means Cuomo for a few more years, so be it. People get what they deserve. If people remain apathetic to the issues, to their rights, and to voting for the lesser of two evils, they will never see anything but the same ol' sh*t.
The problem that we have in NY State and finding viable candidates is really all too simple
1 In order to get voters to hear you, you need name recognition, Whether you are Democrat, Republican, Libertarian or Looney Tunes Party.
2 Of the 20 Millions people here, more than half live South East of Albany -- Democrat Country
3. If you have name recognition in New York City and surrounding area, you are pretty much forced to be way far on the left leaning side and the side of big government negating that in Upstate NY
4. If you are from Upstate New York, you pretty much have to politic left to gain sufficient votes in the Down State area negating much of your support Upstate.
5. Whether you are Libertarian or just general in conservative thought, in this state you have to take more time (Years most likely) messaging to areas Upstate. It takes about 70% plus of the vote Upstate to quell the the 70% of the big government voters down state.
Not an insurmountable problem, but clearly an up hill battle all the way
See, Doug, I think Trump will be just a another GOP candidate who makes the party look bad and ensure Cuomo wins. He wouldn't stand a chance of winning if he was running against Hugo Chavez himself. The urban part of the state will never give him a majority and sensible independents are turned off by him.
I wish we could bring in Scott Walker from Wisconsin. What a phenomenal turnaround that state has made under his leadership - something NY has not had in many years.
Bob, Obama has a drone program where innocent men, women and children are annihilated with the push of a button. There is NO discussion and there is NO compromise. How's that working out for you?

I agree with Howard - Trump would make the GOP a joke for this contest.
