Nice idea, but... when? The press release has all sorts of information about "what" and "where" but no "when." How can one sign up if one doesn't know when it will be: on Earth Day itself? When is that? On a weekend near the date of Earth Day? Which weekend? Howard, you dropped the ball a little on this one. If this truly is the complete text of the press release that you received from our County Park people, you should have gone back to them for more complete information before you posted it. Nice idea, though.

The county web site also contains information about this. It looks like the event is scheduled for Saturday, April 5 2009 from 10 am - 2 pm.

It's too bad that our county doesn't make better use of its online calendar of events. This event isn't listed there. As it stands, a visitor to that calendar might come away with the impression that not much goes on in this county besides health department VD clinics.

It'd also be nice to see the county promote upcoming events and other notable content to its home page as do most modern web sites. The county's current home page reads more like a sitemap than anything else. But that appears to be a common approach for county web sites. Within the GLOW region, the Orleans County home page made the best first impression on me.

No, April 5 is not "Earth Day" which according to a federal government web site will occur later during that month, on April 22.
