Today's Poll: What is your opinion of the economy?

I'm not noticing anything impressive, but I think "impressive" is lost on this country. A guy I went to HS with travels the world as a company rep for HVAC and related equipment. The picture he paints of this country is abysmal. Explosive growth will not return to this country any time soon, if ever. Growth in China and India is where it's at. My hopes for retirement are that the American dollar doesn't become the world's new peso. Another thing, if people here don't think that a Cyprus type of scenario could ever happen here, they're delusional. I'm happy to have a job, but the company I work for is still not making announcements that would make any of us breathe a sigh of relief. In my opinion, the economy is stagnant and the pond scum is getting thicker.

I see it as about the same too Doug. That's not a neutral position. Personally I am set to have a much better year this year than I have had in about 5 or so. There's a few factors that cause that, none of which mean the economy is getting better.

Now.... if we had a truly free-market economy, it could be explosive. But that big old heavy boot of over-bearing government on our backs will continue to keep that from happening. As long as government is operated as a top-down system instead of locally driven and steered, the economy will always stay stagnant. Especially NYS where we are getting a double beat down.
