Providence M. DiMartino

Providence M. DiMartino, 89 of Batavia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday January 29, 2017 at her son’s home. She was born July 6, 1927 in Batavia, to the late Phillip (Lucia Maggio) Gullo. Mrs. DiMartino is preceded in death by her beloved husband Anthony “Britt” DiMartino, daughter Linda Anne Engelhardt, brother Vincent “James” Gullo.

Mrs. DiMartino worked for the Telephone Company, Doehler Jarvis, Election Board, Veterans Administration and the U.S. Census Bureau before staying home to raise her children. She loved sewing, knitting and was known as the family historian. Mrs. DiMartino was a lifelong member of the former St. Anthony’s Church and Ascension Parish. Family was everything to her, she made sure that her children and grandchildren were spoiled. She was beloved by all that she knew.  

She is survived by her sons Phillip (Susan), Frank (Maria) both of Batavia; Anthony (Helen) DiMartino of Oswego; brother Gaetano “Tom” Gullo of Batavia; 9 grandchildren Matthew DiMartino, Lindsey (Jonathon) Marlowe, Jason, Ryan, Taylor, Hannah, Brandon DiMartino, Ricky and Mary Noel Engelhardt; 2 great-grandchildren Gavin and Dylan DiMartino, along with several nieces and nephews.  

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday February 1, 2017 from 4 to 7 PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. A 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday February 2, 2017 at Ascension Parish 19 Sumner St. Batavia, New York 14020. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Batavia.
