Willis R. Teachen, 92, of Darien Center passed away peacefully on Thursday May 4, 2017. He was born on June 1, 1924 in Bennington to the late Roy and Lena (Schmelzle) Teachen.

Willis was a graduate of Alexander Central School, employed by G.L.F. Coop, Batavia Bus Lines, and became a bus driver for Empire Trailways, retiring in 1986.  He enjoyed wood working, his lawn care, and especially travelling.  He and his wife toured extensively by auto and motor home throughout the United States and Canada, wintering in Florida.  In later years he enjoyed the coffee meetings with friends.  Willis was a life-long member of Salem United Church of Christ and past president of Fairview Cemetery in Bennington.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 69 years, Shirley (Klossner) Teachen of Darien Center whom he married August 25, 1948; nephews Jerry Griffiths of Attica, Gary (Babe) Griffiths of South Wales, NY., along with great nieces, nephews and many friends of all ages.

In addition to his parents, Willis is predeceased by his sister and brother in law; Thelma and Donald Griffiths; nieces Sharon and Donna Griffiths.

Calling hours are invited to call on Monday May 8, 2017 from 3:00 – 7:00PM at Marley Funeral Home, LLC. 135 Main Street, Attica, New York 14011.  A 11:00AM Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday May 9th at the Salem United Church of Christ, 1327 Clinton St Rd.,
Bennington, NY.
