Donald Vincent DeLaVergne, 90, of Leicester passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris where he had been residing. Donald was born in Pavilion, NY on May 11, 1927 a son of the late Judd Henry and Cornelia (VanCise) DeLaVergne. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife: Amie (DeVinney) DeLaVergne who died on May 8, 2014, and sisters: Vivienne Blanke and Mary Eberly.

Don was a graduate of Pavilion Central High School. He was a self employed farmer and retired as a heavy equipment operator for Retsof Salt Mine. He was an active member of the Covington United Methodist Church in Covington where he was a member of the board and was one of the first 20 members of the Geneseo War Museum in Geneseo. He was the former sexton of Mt. Ash Cemetery in Covington. He was a pilot who enjoyed flying his Cessna plane and once flew the famous “Memphis Belle” and loved his pet the late “Tinker”.

He is survived by five daughters: Sandra M. (Richard) Konarski of Rochester, Debra R. “Debby” (Fred) VanScott of Rochester, Melinda F.”Mindie ” DeLaVergne of Leicester, Laurel L. “Laurie” (Michael) Hamler Sr. of Leicester and Donna Jo (Glenn) White of Mt. Morris, a brother: Richard (Margaret) DeLaVergne of W. VA., 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call from 5:00-7:00PM on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 13th at 1:00pm at the Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Ash Cemetery in Covington, NY.
