Violet M. Panek, 95, of Elba, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday (July 09, 2015) at LeRoy Village Green.

She was born in Buffalo, NY on July 17, 1919, daughter of the late Valentine and Agnes Swatek Wiater, sister of the late Stanley, John and Walter Wiater, Harriet Rogowski, Sister Mary Ignatia CSSF and Mary Starowicz. She was the wife of the late Albert Panek, who died in 1991.

Violet was a lifelong member of Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart Church) and a member of the Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society. Violet and her husband devoted many hours to the church and worked for many years at the parish picnic.

Known for her culinary skills, Violet worked as a chef at The Country Kitchen Restaurant, Terry Hills Golf Course and shared a catering business with her sister, Harriet.

Violet enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, sewing, crafting and painting ceramics.

Survivors include her children Marie (late Donald) Butts of Batavia, NY, David (Rosann) Panek of Churchville, NY, Susan (Roger) Gronert of Flagler Beach, Fl, and Ronald (Mary Alice) Panek of LeRoy, NY.  Violet is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Monday (July 13th) from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 Bogue Ave., Batavia. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday (July 14th), 10:00am at Ascension Parish (corner of Swan and Sumner Sts.).  Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
