PAULINE A. (nee YANIK) SZELAG ZYBECK

PAULINE A. (nee Yanik) SZELAG ZYBECK ~ Batavia 

Age 88, of Batavia, NY went peacefully home to the Lord on Monday evening April 16, 2018 at the New York State Veterans Home @ Batavia surrounded by her family. She was born April 3, 1930 in Oakfield, NY a daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Placek) Yanik also preceded in death by husbands, Walter S. Szelag in 1972 and Stephen Zybeck in 2000, a son, Raymond Szelag and several brothers and sisters.                                                     

Pauline was employed at Curtis Burns in Oakfield and the former Genesee County Nursing Home. She was a longtime member of Resurrection Parish, a Eucharistic Minister, member of the Legion of Mary and the St. Joseph's Sodality. In April 1998 her church bestowed upon her the honor of receiving the "St. Joseph the Worker" award. She will be remembered as a kind, caring woman with a strong devotion to faith, family and friends. 

She is survived by her loving children, Walter (Anne) Szelag of Iowa, David (Kris) Szelag of Utah, Wanda (David) Vanderlee of Victor, Susan (John) Hilchey of Oakfield, Anne Gross of Buffalo, Theresa (Jack) Kershner of Batavia; step-sons, Steve (Debbie) Zybeck of Buffalo, Jeffrey (Katie) Zybeck of N. Carolina; daughter-in-law, Kim Szelag of Nebraska; brother, Edwin (late Theresa) Yanik of Buffalo; numerous grandchildren, several great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. 

Pauline's family will be present from 4-8pm Friday April 20, 2018 at the MICHAEL S. TOMASZEWSKI FUNERAL & CREMATION CHAPEL, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020 where prayers will be recited 9:30am Saturday April 21 followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at Resurrection Parish (St. Mary's Site). She will be laid to rest in St. Cecilia's Cemetery in Oakfield. Contributions in her memory can be made to Crossroads House 11 Liberty Street Batavia, NY 14020.
