Dolores M. "Chick" Chiocco

  Dolores M. “Chick” Chiocco, 87, of Batavia, passed away peacefully at Batavia Health Care Center on Monday April 30, 2018. She was born on August 25, 1930 in Hoboken, NJ to the late Francis (Grace Vuotto) Chiocco.  

Chick was a graduate of Ithaca College and inducted into the Ithaca Athletic Hall of Fame. She was one of the first female coaches to work with the US Olympic Field Hockey Team. Chick dedicated her life to athletics at Genesee Community College and was the first female teacher/coach at the college. She was deeply loved as an aunt and very special to her family and friends.   

She is survived by her brother Richard Chiocco of St. Augustine, FL; special nieces and nephews Stephen (Mary) Chiocco, Kayla (Eric) Shuknecht, Ashley (Rocco) Zambito, Bryan (Roberta) Proulx; special friend Mary Jo Dumuhosky, along with many nieces and nephews.  

Friends are invited to call from 9:30 to 11:30 AM on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street, Batavia, New York 14020. A 12:00 Noon Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Resurrection Parish, 18 Ellicott Street, Batavia, New York 14020. Chick will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Somers, NY.
