Roland D. Claus

Bergen - Roland D. Claus, 83, of Bergen, passed away Friday, (April 27, 2018) at the New York State Veteran's Home, in Batavia.

Mr. Claus was born November 18, 1934 in Castile, a son of the late Edward and Helen (Roth) Claus.

Roland was a retired teacher from Churchville-Chili School District and was a member of the Bergen Evangelical Presbyterian Church.  He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and bicyclist.

He was the husband of the late Jean (MacDonald) Claus who passed away in 2013.

Surviving are his sons, Jeffrey Claus of Walworth, Eric (Laurie) Claus of Bergen, and Timothy (Dawn) Claus of Batavia; grandchildren, Jeannie (Simon) Sheehan of Virginia, and Michelle Drahms of Walworth; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Audrey, and Grant Sheehan, and Tanner and Adrianna Drahms; brother, Alan (Diana) Claus of Holland.

Roland is preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Christopher and Victoria Claus.

There will be no visitation.  Family and friends are invited to attend Roland’s Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday (May 5, 2018) at the Bergen Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 38 S. Lake Street, Bergen.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Activities Fund at the New York State Veteran's Home, 220 Richmond Ave., Batavia, NY 14020.  Burial will be in Stone Church Cemetery, Bergen.
