   Age 70, of Batavia, NY, well known area harness horse driver and trainer died Tuesday August 4, 2015 at his home. He was born November 11, 1944 in Pittsford, NY a son of the late Louis W. and Florence (Hall) Filer, also preceded in death by a brother, Adrian.      

   Jan from an early age had an attraction to the harness horse racing circuit and that carried him all over the East Coast, racing some of the best trotters around. Simply put, "racing was his life", he celebrated 50 years in the business in 2012 and was a member of the WNY Harness Horseman's Association.

   He is survived by his loving daughters, Deborah (Todd) Dibble of Batavia and Shauna (Brendan) Blake of Byron; grandson, Pasquale (Justina) Rapone III of New Mexico; great-grandchildren, Carter Joseph and Mason Jay; brother, Barrett Filer of Pittsford; sister, Evonne Filer-Zummo of Palm Springs, CA along with several nieces and nephews.     

   The family will be present from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. on Thursday August 13, 2015 at the MICHAEL S. TOMASZEWSKI FUNERAL & CREMATION CHAPEL, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020 where a Celebration of Life service will take place at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
