Francis J. Guppenberger P.E.

Francis J. Guppenberger P.E., 92, of Batavia passed away on August 25, 2015 at United Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on November 13, 1922 in Buffalo, New York to the late August J. (Mary A. Zeitz) Guppenberger. Mr. Guppenberger is preceded in death by his wife Carol L. (Precht) Guppenberger; son Mark F. Guppenberger.

Francis graduated from Purdue in 1943 with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and later went on to become a professional engineer. He was the President of F.J. Guppenberger, Inc. Francis was big into the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Meal on Wheels with his wife Carol. Francis was also on the City Planning Board and he was a life time member of St. Mary’s Church and often volunteered there and at St. Mary’s School.

He is survived by his sons Thomas J. (Cherie) of Washougal, WA; Peter W. Guppenberger of Batavia; daughters Terri M. (Donald) Hunter of Bogota, NJ; Susan C. (the late William) Keidel of Churchville; Mary Beth (Robert) Lovria of Batavia; Ellen A. (Alan) Beideck of Saranac Lake; Linda L. (Alan) English of Central Square; Lisa K. (Dean) Hewitt of Perry; daughter-in-law Mary Lou Guppenberger of NC; 27 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, brothers Joseph M. of Batavia; James (the late Jean) of FL; Rev. August Guppenberger of Cincinnati, OH; sisters Mary (the late John) Yunker of Oakfield; Helene (John) Beuler of Livonia; Lois (John) Gringer of Spencerport; Barbara Guppenberger Batavia, along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Friday August 28, 2015 from 3 to 7 PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. A 12:15 PM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday August 29, 2015 at Resurrection Parish (St. Mary’s Church) 18 Ellicott St. Batavia, New York 14020. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Batavia.
