David A. Nesbitt

Pavilion N.Y. - David A. Nesbitt 67 passed away peacefully on January 15th at the Gateway Home after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

David was born on December 12, 1956, to Nan and the late Harold Nesbitt of Batavia N.Y.

David is survived by his mother, Nan; girlfriend Marsha Hoskins, a brother Thomas (Melanie) Nesbitt and a nephew Connor Nesbitt.

David (nicknamed Nez) graduated from Byron-Bergen Central school in 1975.  He loved sports and was on the B.B.C.S., soccer, basketball and golf teams.  In the spring of 1975, he culminated his high school sports career by playing on the New York State Section 5 Championship golf team. David was inducted into the B.B.C.S. Sports hall of fame in 2011.

He was also an accomplished bowler with many 300 games, and a high series of 846.  David had many league and tournament wins in the Batavia Bowling Association and traveled the country for many years bowling in the ABC National Tournament with fellow bowlers from the area. He was inducted into the Batavia Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2002

David was an Eagle Scout (Troop 1 Batavia) and was active in 4-H as a youngster.

He loved the Buffalo Bills and had season tickets for many years.  David was quite the sports card and autograph collector, and his collection took up many rooms in his home.

He enjoyed his many friendships and loved to make people laugh. David volunteered for as many activities as he could for Genesee Cancer Assistance in Batavia where he made many new friends.

His favorite saying was by a motivational speaker by the name of Josh Shipp:  You either get bitter or you get better, it's that simple. You either take what has been dealt to you and allow it to make you a better person, or you allow it to tear you down.  The choice does not belong to fate..............it belongs to you.

David retired from Batavia Restaurant Supply in 2018 where he had been employed for more than 30 years.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, January 26 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia.  David’s Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m. at the Batavia First Presbyterian Church, 300 East Main Street.  David will be laid to rest at Grandview Cemetery in Batavia at a later date.
