In school, Mom did very well, skipping three different grades. After graduating from Grover Cleveland High School, Mom worked at Woolworths. Toward the end of WWII she worked at the International Institute helping to settle European refugees. It was there that she met my father, Ben Hart. They married on September 27, 1952, a wonderful, loving marriage that lasted 64 years, until Dad died in 2017. Mom took civil service exams just for fun: “to keep my mind active”. Still when, in 1978, she was offered a job as a secretary in the Department of State in Washington, DC, she and Dad saw it as an adventure, and moved, on three weeks notice. They lived for 35 years there before returning to this area in 2013. Mom will long be remembered for her loving, passionate, generous and caring nature, and for much else.
