LENA A. DONOVAN ~ 79, of Batavia, died Saturday December 14, 2019 at Premier Genesee Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Lena was born in Warsaw, NY on May 15, 1940, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose (Colletti) D’Angelo, also preceded in death by her husband, James Nelson Donovan and siblings, Theresa, Joseph, Thomas, Anthony & Samuel D’Angelo, Josephine Yaquinto, Tina Vernaccini and Rose Carguilo.

Lena was a Registered Nurse for over 30 years, nursing was her passion and it carried through her career at Roswell Cancer Institute and time spent in private care nursing. She enjoyed Bingo, sewing and was always most proud of her Italian heritage.

Lena is survived by her loving sons, David Donovan of Batavia and his children, Tyler & Brittany; James Donovan of N. Tonawanda and his children, Bryce & Ryan along with several nieces and nephews.

Kim H. Kisiel, 64 of Batavia passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019. He was born on October 21, 1955 in Batavia to Henry Kisiel of Batavia and the late Lois (Quartley) Kisiel.  

Kim dedicated himself to the family business Pinnacle Manufacturing Company, for over 40 years as President.  He was well respected for his dedication and commitment to the company’s business relationships.

Kim was an incredibly intelligent man and was known for his great sense of humor. His passion for flying began at an early age and went on to become a skilled pilot.  He was an avid piano player and enjoyed golfing, fishing, and snowmobiling in his free time.  Kim was also an immense NASCAR fan and attended races yearly.  Mr. Kisiel was known for his popular quote of him “getting better looking every day”. Kim was beloved by so many people.

He spent the last 21 years with the love of his life Katy Call. They spent most of their time on Conesus Lake enjoying time with family and friends. They were loved, and respected in the community. They had an open-door policy where all were welcome.  Anyone who stopped in would be greeted with a warm welcome. Kim was a man of few words. However, when he spoke, especially from his heart everyone in his presence would stop and listen.  He was a humble man that surprised people with his intelligence, mathematical, and scientific skills.  Kim would give the shirt off of his back or the last dollar out of his pocket for anyone who needed it.   His absolute pride and joy was his family, especially Katy, his 3 children and 2 grandchildren who lit up his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife; Katy Call of Batavia; daughter Cortney (Benjamin) Lundberg of Phoenix, AZ, sons Michael Kisiel, and Daniel Kisiel both of Rochester; sister Diane (Hiram) Kastenbaum of Batavia; brother Kevin Kisiel of Batavia; 2 grandchildren Kennedy and Bryce Lundberg, along with several nieces and nephews.

Eugene A. Esainko, age 59, of Perry, NY passed away on Wednesday December 18, 2019 at his home in surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 19, 1960 a son to the late William and Mary Jane (Markus) Esainko. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a brother: Richard T. Esainko.

Eugene worked for the New York State Department of Transportation in New York City. He had a great love for music and could be considered a shopaholic. He loved his dog Max and especially loved his time spent with his wife and her children.

He is survived by his wife: Sharline A. (Schiffman) Esainko whom he married on October 7, 2017, step children: Christopher “Rambo” Baase of Perry, Jeffrey Hawley Jr. of East Aurora, Samantha Shenk of Angola and Stephanie Shenk of Lakeview, brother: William (Eileen) Esainko of PA., mother-in-law: Linda Schiffman of Elma, 8 grandchildren: Starr, Chanze, Savannah, Tatianna, Adijah, Adin, Colton and Ares, a special niece: Gelena Esainko of Darien Center along with many other nieces and nephews.

Bruno Coccia died Saturday (Dec. 14, 2019) at age 70. 

Mr. Coccia was the owner of Genesee Printers Inc. and Microera Printers Inc. He was also a co-owner of the Rochester Flash Men's Soccer Team and the C.C.O. Harness Racing Stables.

Mr. Coccia owned several horses in western New York from the late 70's to the mid 80’s and raced successfully at that time. Among the horses in his stable was the popular pacer Jeffrey Drummond who was a true win machine. During his career, Jeffrey Drummond won 79 races with 33 seconds and 28 thirds and had multiple double-digit win seasons.  

Mr. Coccia was predeceased by his father and mother, Raffaele and Anna Coccia. He is survived by his fiancée, Sheri Woulard; sons, Raphael (Tasha) Coccia, Agostino (Suzanne) Coccia, Michael Coccia; their mother, Christine Coccia; stepdaughter, Nicole Mazzocchi; seven grandchildren; brother, Agostino (Lucille) Coccia; sister, Tina Musso; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Batavia - Robert R. Ritz, age 90, of Batavia, longtime muck farmer in Elba and United States Navy Veteran, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019 at The Unity Hospital of Rochester.

Mr. Ritz was born August 23, 1929, in Batavia, a son of the late Francis S. Ritz, Sr. and Margaret Roth Ritz.

His wife, Jeanette F. Wisniewski Ritz, passed away on February 14, 2001.

Survivors include his daughters; Rebecca Ritz and Sharon Piscitelli, both of Batavia; his step-daughter; Connie (Chris) Stone of Batavia; grandson; Joshua (Fiancée Kelly Anderson) Piscitelli of Barre; three great-grandchildren; Lukas, Eviana and Paityn Piscitelli and nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his step-daughter, Kathleen Sassenbury and his siblings, Francis S. Ritz, Jr. and Shirley Gerrety.

Stafford - Nancy Laird Thompson, age 62, passed away Monday, December 16, 2019, at her home.

Nancy was born September 9, 1957, in Batavia, a daughter of the late Charles Douglas and Marguerite (Johnson) Laird.

Survivors include her husband, Dale Thompson of Stafford; brothers, Thomas (Kathy) Laird of Fort Pierce, Florida, Kenneth Laird and Douglas Laird, both of East Bethany; sister, Catherine (William) Plaisted of Clifton Springs; brothers-in-law Rick LaVare of LeRoy and Wayne (Debra) Thompson of Weedsport. Nancy loved her nieces and nephews and made many warm memories with them. Surviving are Jodi and Michael Laird, Scott and Kimberly Laird, Jeffrey (Rosalie) Plaisted, Joseph (Kimberly) LaVare, Kelsey LaVare, Brian Laird, Justin (Amanda) Laird and Katelyn (Michael) Brazeau; great-nieces and great-nephews, Sara Chase, Elise Brazeau, Blake and Bert LaVare, William, Jonathon and Donovan Stubinger and Grace Plaisted.

She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Beth LaVare.

Nancy had a love for all animals and leaves behind her feline family.

LeRoy ~ Pauline H. Evans, age 98, formerly of Asbury Road, passed away early Wednesday morning (Dec. 18, 2019) at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

    

She was born December 16, 1921 in Manchester, NH, a daughter of the late Thomas and Abbie Marcy Hume.

     Pauline will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  She was a member of the LeRoy United Methodist Church and the Greater Rochester Chapter of Ex-POW's.  She was a past member of the Eastern Star-Ella Chapter in Silver Springs, the American Legion Auxiliary in Silver Springs and the Geneva Friendship Squares.

     She is survived by her children, Paul (Pam) Evans of Gowanda, Bonnie Clare Smith of Buffalo and Deborah (Steven) Greene of LeRoy; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

     She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence E. Evans, her son-in-law, Bradley Smith and her sisters, Rebecca Pattridge, Lucille Sitch and Bernice Chaffer.

     There will be no prior visitation.  Services and interment in Elmwood Cemetery, Silver Springs, N.Y. will be announced at a later date.

Joan R. Oderkirk, 80 of Batavia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and best friend Doreen Johns on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. She was born in Saranac Lake, NY on November 12, 1939 to the late John (Marguerite Buckley) Ryan.

Joan is the youngest of 13 children and also a twin. She worked as an elf at Santa’s Workshop at the North Pole in Wilmington NY. She was proud to be included on the Viewmaster 1956 reel and also on the wall of fame in the North Pole museum.

She Graduated from Ausable forks NY high school in 1958; graduated from college of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station, NJ in 1963 with a BS in home economics; Graduated from Newark State College in Union, New Jersey in 1965 obtaining her teaching certificate. She met her husband while teaching at Ausable Forks high school and the two married June 24, 1967 (on her parent’s 50th golden wedding anniversary). She worked for the YWCA After School Adventure program for 23 years as lead teacher (mainly at Jackson school site). All the children knew her as “Mrs. O.” Most kids remember her because she taught card games.

Joan along with her husband were founding members of their church, now known as Corner stone church on Bank St. Joan and her husband held church services out of their home while the planning was underway for their new church. Joan was heavily involved in the church, whether it was Sunday service, bible studies or special prayer requests.

Her greatest accomplishment and pride and joy were her three children and six grandchildren. If there were two words to best describe Joan’s purpose on earth, they would be her unwavering faith and loving family. Joan will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved her yet we rejoice with all who are welcoming her in heaven.

Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Richard Oderkirk Sr. of Batavia; children Richard (Beth) Oderkirk Jr. of Strongsville, OH; James (Heather) Oderkirk of Akron, OH; Mary Thomas of Bergen; 6 grandchildren Jared, Ryan, Aiden, Kyle, Cassandra, Emma, along with many nieces and nephews.    

An 11:00 AM Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Cornerstone Church, 8020 Bank Street Road, Batavia, New York 14020.

Professor Timothy J. Lynch, 68 of Perry, passed away on December 15, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born in Los Angeles, CA on July 1, 1951 to the late Charles (Marguerite) Lynch. Tim is preceded in death by his twin brother Michael Lynch.  

Hanshi Prof. Timothy Lynch, along with his twin brother Michael, established the School of Ancient Martial Arts during the 1970’s in Southern California.  The school relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1992 and was in operation there until 2002, upon the passing of Prof Michael Lynch. In 1997, when Prof. Timothy Lynch relocated to the east coast, he established the Tora Kai Academy of Martial Arts in the greater Baltimore, Maryland area, at the same time assuming the position of technical advisor and Senior Master Instructor of the Chimar Academy of Tang Soo DO in the same region.

Prof. Timothy Lynch started his martial arts training in 1960 with the study of Kodokan Judo and Kawaishi Ryu Jujutsu, eventually studying Danzan Ryu Jujutsu under the tutelage of Prof. David Bellman and the late Prof. Tony Muran (a disciple of Prof. Okazaki).  Upon his relocation to Northern California in 1980, Prof. Lynch continued his study of Danzan Ryu and Hikari Ryuza Ryu Jujutsu under Dr. Tyron Crimi.

He held a 9th Degree Black Belt in Jujutsu, a 9th Degree Black Belt in Mah Kawai Karate (TSD), a 5th degree Black Belt in Kempo Jujutsu, and a 5th Degree Black Belt in Kombatan Arnis, and was a former member of the United States Jujitsu Team.  Prof. Lynch has been inducted into several martial arts “Halls of Fame” and was an “International” Master police defensive tactics/impact weapons and less-lethal devices Instructor and has trained thousands of law enforcement, security, corrections, and military personnel throughout the world over the past 30 plus years and was a court-certified “Use of Force” Expert.  His law enforcement career spans nearly four decades.

Tim is survived by his beloved wife Corinne L. (Stedman) Lynch of Perry; children Kellie Lynch, Bryan Lynch, Melissa (Chris) Kelly, Robert (Promise) Lynch, Gavin Lynch, Bridget (Mark) Givens, Tammy Davis; siblings Patricia Medina, Nancy Borlo, Alana Johnston, 14 grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.   

Friends are invited to call on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 4 to 5 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where Tim served in the High Priesthood, 42 E. John F. Kruppa, Jr., 82 of Corfu, passed away peacefully on Sunday (December 15^th) at Rochester General Hospital.

He was born August 9, 1937 in Batavia, NY, a son of the late John and Dorothy Wetzel Kruppa.

Mr. Kruppa was a graduate of Batavia High School. After high school he served our country with the U.S. Army from 1960-1962. He was employed for over 27 years from Doehler Jarvis as a tool and die maker and Trico Co. in Buffalo prior to his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and sold many of his items at the public market in Batavia. John enjoyed NASCAR and watching wrestling, gardening, Penn State football and was a model airplane enthusiast. John also enjoyed spending many great adventures with his beloved dog “Ezzie”. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife, Donna Marie (Pfeiffer) Kruppa of Corfu. Children, Timothy Graham, Melinda Moon and Adam Kruppa. Brother, Paul (Joanne) Kruppa of Batavia and sister in-law, Nancy Pocock of Batavia. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, niece and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday (Dec. 20^th), 11:00am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish (East Pembroke Site), 8656 Church St, East Pembroke, NY. He will be laid to rest in the future Western New York National Cemetery.

Julieanne Baudanza, age 45, of Batavia, beloved sister and daughter, died peacefully Monday, Dec. 9, 2019.

She was born Sept. 22, 1974, in Batavia to the deceased Peter C. and Sandra E. (Koche) Baudanza.

Julie enjoyed being outdoors and being with friends. She enjoyed planting flowers and gardening. She helped her father with pruning Christmas trees for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her niece and nephew.

Surviving are: brothers Peter G. and Daniel Baudanza, of Batavia; sister, Christina Baudanza, of Batavia; niece Michaela Baudanza; nephew Sam Baudanza; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her brother Jason Baudanza, of Batavia, died five days later, on Dec. 14. 2019.

Jason P. Baudanza, age 49, of Batavia, beloved father, son, and brother died peacefully Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019.

He was born Jan. 27, 1970, in Batavia to the deceased Peter and Sandra E. (Koche) Baudanza.

Jason worked as an electrician/technician and enjoyed helping others through his work. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, gardening, and bowling. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. He enjoyed working on small engines, building things, and spending time with his dogs hunting rabbits or raccoons. He always was willing to help someone else out and was always there when you needed something.

Surviving are his beloved children, Michaela Baudanza and Samuel Baudanza; his ex-wife Judy Pratt; brothers Peter and Daniel Baudanza, of Batavia; sister Christina; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Julieanne Baudanza, of Batavia, on Dec. 9, 2019.

  William L. Mosman, 94, of Batavia passed away peacefully on December 16, 2019, his 94^th birthday, under the care of Niagara Hospice in Lockport. He was born on December 16, 1925 in Olean to the late Lynford and Hariet (Feister) Mosman. In addition to his parents, William is predeceased by his loving wife; Mary Ellen (Wilson) Mosman; a son Timothy Mosman, daughter Judith E. Peterson.

Mr. Mosman was a proud United States Navy veteran. He owned and operated LC Mosman Co. Inc. in Batavia for 65 years. He was an avid golfer who had 3 holes in one, two of them in the same month. William belonged to many local clubs and organizations including The Elks Club, The Moose Club, The American Legion and VFW in Batavia and was an honorary lifetime member of the Lions Club.

He is survived by his daughters Patricia (Donald) Smith of Wilson; Mary (Wayne) Keifman of Grand Island; Ellen (Joaquin) Aymerich of Naples; Nancy (John Corey) Mosman of Williamsville; sons William (Paula) Mosman Jr. of Batavia; Daniel (Karen) Mosman of Boston, MA; son-in-law Jon Peterson of Rochester; sisters Vivian Kidder of Marilla, Phyllis Koblich of Clifton Park and Judith Prieto of Syracuse; brother Edward (Ann) Mosman of Alden; 11 grandchildren Zachary Smith, Chelsea (John) Dominick, Mary Kathryn (Ryan Bimont) Smith, Ryan (Lauren) Keifman, Kyle Keifman, Timothy Aymerich, Kara (Jose) Reyes, Honora Mosman, Sarah Mosman, Bridget Mosman and Erik Peterson; 2 great-grandchildren Emma Dominick and Evangeline Reyes.

GERALDINE CASSIANO ~ of Oakfield, age 87, died peacefully Thursday morning December 12, 2019 at her home. She was born in Aquila, Italy on November 19, 1932, to the late Tullio and Linda Centi.

Mrs. Cassiano came to America around the age of 8 and settled in Manhattan, working for dress designer, Oleg Cassini in NYC. Geraldine and her late husband, Quito were introduced and married on April 25, 1954, she eventually quit her job and they moved to Oakfield to raise their family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who loved to sew, cook and can for her family. Sundays were feast day for Geraldine, starting with breakfast before going to church, following church she would make pizza from scratch for lunch and finally prepare homemade soup, pasta with meatballs & sausage for dinner. She enjoyed canning and freezing fruits and vegetables, she would often sew outfits and dresses for her children and family. Geraldine will be forever remembered as a true inspiration to her family having passed on her beliefs and values that she instilled in all of them. “Mom, we love you very much and will never forget all that you did for us, you will be truly missed.”  

She is survived by her beloved children, Linda (Mike) Warboys, Nicholas (Judy) Cassiano and Deborah (Leo) Lynch all of Oakfield; grandchildren, Yvette (Justin) Blew, Brittany (Taylor) Burns, Todd Townsend and Jonathan Cassiano; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Trevor & Gabriella Blew; siblings, Linda (Mario) Maiezza, Eleanor (Nicholas) Marcattili and Anthony Centi along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Gerald William Lindke went home to be with the Lord on December 12, 2019. He was born in Middleport, NY on July 28, 1941 to the late Burt and Evelyn (Sahms) Lindke.

Gerry lived most of his life in the Western New York area. He and his wife, Jean (Lombard) were married on October 27, 1962 and they raised five children together while he worked as a truck driver for R.L.Gaude Heating and Oil Co. Gerry loved the Lord and attended Legacy Bible Study at the Chapel CrossPoint. He spent most of his time reading and listening to The Bible and always cherished the time he spent with his family.

Gerry is survived by his loving family: his wife of 57 years, Jean Lindke; his children, Samuel (Jacqueline) Lindke, Barbara (Douglas) Foust, Timothy (Melissa) Lindke, late Kristie (Robert) Jones, Benjamin (Molly) Lindke; fifteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a sister, Betty (Robert) Williams. Gerry is predeceased by his daughter, Kristie and his sister and brother in law, Jean (Willard) Henry. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM with a Memorial Service starting promptly at 6:30 at The Chapel  CrossPoint, 500 CrossPoint Pkwy, Getzville, NY 14068. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS CHARITABLE DONATIONS MAY BE MADE IN GERRY'S NAME TO: Gracetoyou.org, P.O. Batavia/Churchville - Ronald E. Griffith, 87, of Batavia and formerly of Churchville, went home to Heaven on Friday, December 13, 2019, at United Memorial Medical Center.

Ron was born July 17, 1932, in Rochester, the son of the late George and Helen (Wickins) Griffith.

Ron was an engineer at Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, a veteran, serving with the United States Navy and a member of Grace Baptist Church in Batavia.  Ron was active with youth sports, coaching youth football for over 25 years.  He served as the Town of Riga Supervisor for 8 years, Town of Chili Commissioner of Public Works and Highway Superintendent and a State Senator Legislative Aide. 

He will be remembered as a faithful spouse, father and grandfather who loved to socialize and share a good story.  His laugh and smile will be forever missed.

Survivors include his children, Karen (James) Pastorello, Eric Griffith, Dean (Kerri) Griffith of Wyoming and Doris (Pastor Mark) Hurlbut of Elma, his best friend, Mike DiMartino and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ron is the husband of the late Susan Lane Griffith, father of the late David Griffith, grandfather of the late Kailee Lane Bridges and brother of the late Beverly Geer.

Calling hours are Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street in Batavia, where services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m.  Ron will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Place Cemetery, Clifton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ronald's memory may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 238 Vine Street, Batavia, NY 14020.
