A two-car accident with minor injuries is reported at 7889 Oak Orchard Road. Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 5:16 p.m.: The Town of Batavia assignment is back in service.

A two-car accident with one minor injury is blocking traffic at 3565 Batavia Oakfield Townline Road, just east of Lewiston Road. Oakfield Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. A responder on scene said "Looks like a rear-end collision."

UPDATE 9:33 a.m.: A patient is being transported to the hospital in Lockport.

A preliminary report from the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office indicates the driver involved in a double fatal accident on Sackett Road, Bergen, on Aug. 23, was not intoxicated, said Chief Deputy Gordon Dibble.

The driver, Dylan Starkweather, 22, of South Fancher Road, Holley, and Tracy Manchester, 31, of Lomond Shore, Kendall, both died in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation. Typically, fatal accident reports can take months to complete, and it could be some months before a full toxicology report is available from the ME's office.

There was fog in the area at the time of the accident, which occured in the area of an S-curve. A passenger who survived the crash Joshua Deyager, 23, of Jerico Road, Bergen, reportedly told investigators that he saw a deer in the roadway prior to the accident. 

Starkweather's Mini Cooper exited the roadway along the south shoulder, flipped over and struck a tree. Both Startweather and Manchester were declared dead at the scene.

The three people were reportedly returning from the Livingston County Fair.

A three-vehicle collision with injuries is reported at Lewiston and Knowlesville roads. One of the vehicles is a semi-truck. This is possibly a head-on collision. Alabama fire and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 7:52 a.m.: Oakfield Fire Police are requested to shut down westbound Lockport Road at Lewiston Road.

UPDATE 9:08 a.m.: Sheriff's Deputy Lonnie Nati on scene said a red Suburu was northbound on Knowlesville while a gray car was eastbound on Lewiston. The red car blew through the intersection and T-boned the gray car, he said. The driver is a woman from Albion who told responders she didn't know there was a stop sign there. The gray car then ricocheted into a tractor-trailer which was westbound on Lewiston. The red car then careened into the trailer portion's rear axle. The impact ruptured its fuel tank, spilling fuel about a 10th of a mile down the road and into the creek. DEC is en route to the spill. The trailer was loaded with 60,000 pounds of concrete, stone and sand. The gray car had a passenger who was transported to UMMC. The driver of the red car went by private vehicle to a hospital. The driver of the semi was not injured.

Mercy Flight has been dispatched to Area 51 for an injured motorcycle rider.

At the time of the dispatch the rider was unconscious.

A tractor-trailer flipped over and landed on its roof at the S curve on Route 63 at Fargo Road in Little Canada. The driver is trapped inside but reports only minor injuries. A Sheriff's deputy is on scene. Bethany and Stafford fire and Mercy medics are responding. There are wires down in the roadway.

UPDATE 2:58 a.m.: The driver somehow managed to extricate himself and was sitting on the guard rail when the first firefighters arrived. He was loaded into an ambulance and is not seriously hurt. He was hauling Chiquita bananas.

UPDATE 3:17 a.m.: A deputy was first on scene, coming across the accident while on patrol. He and a passerby helped the driver crawl from the cab of the truck. The driver was conscious and alert.

A one-vehicle rollover accident is reported at 7586 Reuben Road, possible trapping two occupants. Some type of wire may also be down. Unknown injuries. Alabama fire is called along with Mercy medics.

A pole and wires are down in front of 56 Harvester Ave. They are blocking traffic. A female is trapped in her vehicle there and wires are around the vehicle. City fire is responding.

UPDATE 2:18 p.m.: City police are asked to respond to direct traffic.

UPDATE 2:30 p.m.: The second platoon is asked to respond to city fire headquarters. It appears that a train accidentally yanked the pole and wires down and the train is stopped on Harvester, blocking the roadway.

UPDATE 2:34 p.m.: There are two power poles down, one on each side of the train tracks. There are also two vehicles draped with live wires, both occupied. The roadway is blocked by a cargo train hauling tank cars manufactured by the adjacent Graham Corp. It appears the cargo train snagged the wires, bringing down the poles.

UPDATE 2:47 p.m.: National Grid crews removed the wires and the drivers inside the trapped vehicles were able to back out of their predicament and move to safe locations.

UPDATE 4:29 p.m.: City Fire is clearing the scene, but Harvester remains barricaded.

A car is reportedly entangled in wires from a power pole on East Saile Drive in front of the Genesee County Airport. A transformer was yanked down, too. The wires are believed to be live. Town of Batavia Fire Department is responding.

A tractor-trailer vs. car accident with serious injuries is reported at Alleghany and Ledge roads. Mercy Flight's availability is being checked. Alabama fire and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 1:38 p.m.: Pembroke and Indian Falls fire police are requested to assist Alabama fire by shutting down Phelps Road at Route 77.

UPDATE 2:02 p.m.: This is a fatal accident. A car is wedged under the semi-truck.

UPDATE 3:21 p.m.: Sheriff's Chief Deputy Gordon Dibble said a tractor-trailer was southbound on Route 77 and a Mercury Grand Marquis was heading eastbound on Ledge Road when the sedan failed to stop at the stop sign and drove straight into the side of the semi. Witnesses said it did not attempt to brake nor stop at the intersection. The impact wedged the car under the semi and both traveled several hundred feet before coming to a halt. The sedan's driver is dead and they are working on notification, but the body has not yet been extricated. The coroner is on scene. There were several witnesses. There is no indication that alcohol or drugs played a role for the truck driver, who did not appear to be speeding, according to witnesses. Indications are the deceased driver is from out of town. The case is being investigated; the truck's mechanics will be examined; a press release is expected later today. Dibble acknowledged that the intersection has been the site of several bad accidents, and he said so has the nearby intersection of Gabbey Road and Route 77. He said the sheer volume of traffic may account for the higher number of accidents at those intersections, but there's "nothing beyond that" such as a steep grade or curve that sets them apart. Possibly the driver in this case wasn't being attentive, was distracted.

UPDATE 6:17 p.m.: The roadways are reopened.

UPDATE 8:08 p.m.: The name of the female driver who was pronounced dead at the scene by County Coroner Karen Lang is not yet being released because the Sheriff's Office has not yet been able to complete notifications. The driver of the semi is identified as James L. Cereghin, 55, of County Road, Defiance, Ohio. A third vehicle was either struck by the Grand Marquis or debris from the vehicle. It was a Jeep Wrangler driven by Dennis R. Carroll, 64, of Transit Road, East Bethany. Neither Cereghin nor Carroll were injured in the accident. The 53-foot box trailer was hauling 46,000 pounds of boxed food product.  

UPDATE 5:40 a.m., Friday: The name of the woman who died is Donna L. Ray, 61, of East Avenue, Buffalo.

A motorcycle accident with possibly serious injuries is reported at Warsaw and Perry roads. Le Roy fire and ambulance are responding. The rider is down in the roadway, not moving, said the dispatcher.

UPDATE 6:08 p.m.: The rider has medical issues which precipitated the accident. He is not seriously hurt. He is being taken to a hospital by Le Roy for his medical issues and for evaluation. No other vehicles were involved.

UPDATE 6:11 p.m.: Responders said the victim was not moving because he was being restrained by Good Samaritans, passersby who stopped and held him in place for his own good until medics arrived, so as not to worsen any injury.

A two-car accident with minor injuries is reported at the intersection of Sumner and Colby roads. Darien fire is responding along with two Darien ambulances.

A two-car accident with multiple victims is reported at 4103 W. Main Street Road, just outside the city line in the Town of Batavia. A child is said to be trapped in the back seat. Town of Batavia fire is responding along with Mercy medics. A deputy is not available and so city police are asked to respond. The location is in front of WNY Fireplace Outlet and a woodworking shop.

UPDATE 1:44 p.m.: No injuries reported. Two people were in one vehicle. Three in another. A baby will possibly be transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Three ambulances are requested to the scene of a motor-vehicle accident at Buffalo Road and Apple Tree Avenue, Bergen.

Extrication is required.

Mercy Flight is grounded due to fog.

UPDATE 8:35 a.m. From the scene: Three people injured, including a child. None seriously. Two transported to Strong, one to UMMC. An SUV heading toward Batavia on Buffalo Road appears to have crossed center line striking pickup truck head on.Truck veered to west shoulder into apple trees. 

A motorcycle vs. deer accident is reported at 4092 Lockport Road, Elba. The rider has a minor leg injury. Elba fire and Mercy medics are responding. The location is east of Graham Road.

A one-vehicle rollover accident, unknown injuries, is reported on the eastbound Thruway at mile marker 381.4. Le Roy fire and ambulance are responding along with Mercy medics. Mercy Flight is put on ground standby.

UPDATE 3:40 p.m.: Mercy Flight is heading to the scene.

UPDATE 3:44 p.m.: Mercy Flight is cancelled by medics.

A driver may have suffered a seizure before plowing into a house at routes 63 and 19. Injuries are reported in the motor-vehicle accident. Pavilion fire and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 12:56 p.m.: The house's gas meter has been shut off. RG&E has been notified.

UPDATE 12:58 p.m.: Command requests a crew from Le Roy Fire Department to stand by in their own quarters.

UPDATE 1:17 p.m.: This could have been a major accident, instead no one -- including the driver -- was seriously hurt, according to a firefighter at the scene. After getting gas at Pavilion Farms gas station, a man in a white pickup truck had a seizure and his truck shot full-throttle out of the gas station, across Route 19, and was headed straight toward Paparoni's pizza parlor, which was crowded with lunchtime customers. There were students milling around in the parking lot, too. But the truck struck a Hanson Aggregates truck in its path and that impact careened the white pickup into the house next to the pizza parlor. A woman was home at the time and the truck missed her by only a couple of feet, said the firefighter. RG&E is on scene.

UPDATE 1:37 p.m.: Pavilion Fire Chief Chad Freeman at the scene said they received a call about 12:45 of a vehicle into a house and arrived to find a pickup truck partially inside the house. They believed the driver had a medical issue. He was northbound on Route 19 and came through the intersection of Route 63 and "ended up in the house." He drove through a busy parking lot. "It could have been a lot worse. Everybody got away with minor injuries." Asked if the Hanson truck diverted the pickup from striking the pizzeria and the packed parking lot, the chief said they are not "100-percent sure" if he would have continued down 19 a ways or not.

A driver who said she fell asleep, leading to an accident Thursday afternoon on Assemblyman R. Steven Hawley Drive, Batavia, was cited for crossing the center line in a no-passing zone by Deputy Joseph Graff, who investigated the collision.

A. R. Jeering, 55, address redacted from report, was among three people injured in the three-car crash. She was transported to UMMC by Mercy EMS with a complaint of pain.

She was driving a 2011 Chevrolet sedan.

Also injured were Kaeleigh S. Disalvo, 21, no address provided, driving a 2008 Buick sedan, and Eric J. Merritt, 26, address redacted, driving a 2008 Ford sedan. Both were transported to UMMC by Mercy EMS with complaints of pain.

Merritt's passenger, 29-year-old Gregory A. Merritt, was not transported to a hospital.

Jeering was driving up the hill on Hawley Drive, westbound, when her vehicle crossed the center line and struck the vehicle driven by Disalvo and then the one driven by Merritt.

A two-car accident with injuries and possible entrapment is reported at R. Stephen Hawley Drive and 99 MedTech Drive in Batavia. Town of Batavia fire and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 4:56 p.m.: Stafford Fire Police requested to the scene for traffic control. They are going to shut down R. Stephen Hawley Drive at Batavia Stafford Townline Road.

UPDATE 5:05 p.m.: A responder on scene reports a patient who is trapped will probably not need to be extricated. Their efforts to free the victim seem to be working.

UPDATE 5:18 p.m.: This was a three-car collision. There are four patients and all are being transported to UMMC via ground ambulances. A female driver of a sedan told responders she fell asleep at the wheel while she was traveling uphill, then she swerved and hit two oncoming cars.
