Reception at GO ART! for exhibit by Jim Burns titled ‘Cabal and Zen’ — photography and illustrations

GO ART! is presenting an exhibit of photography and illustration by local artist Jim Burns Nov. 9 through Feb. 3 at Seymour Place in Downtown Batavia. There will be an artist reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16 at the gallery. GO ART! at Seymour Place is located at 201 E. Main St. Gallery hours are Thursday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and the second Sunday of each month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Titled “Cabal and Zen,” Burns says the work “explores the relationship between emerging sexualities and skateboard ethics.

Artist Reception at GO ART! for Bob Doyle and his photo exhibit ‘Complex Society’

An Artist Reception for Bob Doyle and his photography exhibit “Complex Society” at GO ART! is 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 8. It is located at Seymour Place, 201 E. Main St. in Downtown Batavia. Doyle’s exhibit is in the Bank of Castile Main Gallery. Doyle says “These images are from the early stages of a current long-term project…I am attempting to illustrate a definition of civilization by the notation various elements or evidence of a structure that supports our complex society.” It runs Sept. 14 to Nov 3. Regular Gallery Hours: Thursday, Friday 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Artist receptions at GO ART! for members’ exhibit ‘Guilty Pleasure’ and photography of Ireland by Barbara Knight

An artist reception for the works displayed in “Guilty Pleasure” — a Public’s Choice” show in the Bar Gallery — will be held at Seymour Place in Batavia from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 14 with music, light fare and beverages. It is located at 201 E. Main St. downtown. Works invoke the idea of, feeling, meaning or experience of  “Guilty Pleasure.” The exhibit runs through Dec. 9. In addition, this is the same time and date of the Artist Reception for “The Beauty of Ireland” — photographs of that nation by Barbara Knight in Oliver’s Gallery in the Seymour Dining Room.

‘DREAM of America’ photography exhibit of North Country Latino workers opens at GO ART!

GO ART! will present a collection of photographs depicting the lives and sacrifices of Latino workers in this country along the U.S.-Mexican border and the families they left behind in Mexico in a special exhibit next month. “DREAM of America: Separation & Sacrifice in the Lives of North Country Latino Immigrants” is the title of the collection by Lisa Catalfamo-Flores. The opening reception is from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, at GO ART!, located at 201 E. Main St.
