Screening of locally filmed 'Macbeth' at GO ART! Bar opens at 4, movie starts at 7:30

Batavia Players and GO ART! present the film screening of "Macbeth" on Saturday, April 7, at GO ART! , 201 E. Main St. in Downtown Batavia.

Join us for the screening of locally produced, full-length feature film of Macbeth directed by Adam Dixson and Mallory Ann Flanagan and shot entirely in the City of Batavia.

And, celebrate the Grand Opening Weekend of GO ART!’s Tavern 2.o.1 -- a beer and wine bar.

Only 40 tickets available for "MacBeth," $20 per ticket.

Batavia Kiwanis Club hosts annual Easter Egg Hunt at 9 sharp at Centennial Park

Batavia Kiwanis Club will hold its annual East Egg Hunt starting at 9 a.m. sharp on Saturday, March 31, at Centennial Park in the City of Batavia.

The park is located at 151 State St.; the nearest cross street is Richmond Avenue.

Students at St. Joe's, members of K-Kids, put 8,000 pieces of chocolate into 4,000 plastic Easter eggs recently to help the Kiwanis Club of Batavia prepare for the hunt.

There will also be a total of nine large chocolate Easter bunnies from Oliver's Candies given away as prizes.

PCD Kiwanis 46th annual Easter Egg Hunt at Pembroke Town Park

The PCD Kiwanis 46th Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held beginning at 12:15 p.m. on Easter Sunday, April 1st.

It's at the Pembroke Town Park on Route 77 next to the high school.

It's for ages 2 - 10 years.

This is a outdoor event, so please dress accordingly.

'Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer's disease' -- free class at Haxton library in Oakfield

Alzheimer’s disease is not a normal part of aging. It is a progressive and fatal brain disease that is the most common form of dementia.

“The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease” is a free class presented by the Alzheimer’s Association Western New York Chapter for anyone who would like to know more about the disease and related dementias. In Genesee County, the program will be offered in April in Oakfield.

Bergen Swamp Preservation Society hosts free program about this sensitive ecosystem at Gillam Grant center

The Bergen Swamp Preservation Society is hosting a free public presentation on endangered species at the Gillam Grant Community Center on Saturday, April 28, to encourage Bergen Swamp community members to be aware of the sensitivity of this ecosystem.

The society wants to bring awareness about the need to preserve the rare animals in the swamp, discourage poaching or killing these animals, and how to identify and report some non-native invasive species.

Byron fire and Byron Kiwanis host annual Pancake Breakfast and Chinese auction at Byron Fire Hall

The annual Pancake Breakfast & Chinese Auction will be held at the Byron Fire Hall from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday, April 8th. It is located at 6357 E. Main St. (Route 262) in Byron.
 
There will be a 50/50 raffle in addition to the Chinese auction.
 
The event is hosted by the Byron Kiwanis & Byron Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. All proceeds go toward assisting the community of Byron and the Byron Fire Department.

Alexander Fire Department Pancake Breakfast with Easter Bunny, bounce house and more

The Alexander Fire Department is hosting a All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast with the Easter Bunny! It is this Sunday, March 25, 8 a.m. to noon at the Alexander Fire Department Recreation Hall. It is located at 10708 Route 98, Attica.

Menu will be pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, ham, sausage, bacon, sausage gravy and biscuits, home fries, fruit, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice and real maple syrup!

The Easter Bunny will be there along with an indoor bounce house, coloring contest, face painting and 50/50 raffle.

Hawley hosts open community forum in Pavilion at Hollwedel library

Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,C,I-Batavia) announced today that he will be hosting a free community forum open to the public at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15 at the Hollwedel Memorial Library, located at 5 Woodrow Drive in Pavilion.

Hawley will provide an update on the happenings of Albany and will answer questions from the audience. The event is sponsored by the women’s group “RAP.”

GC Health Department offers FREE anti-rabies vaccination clinic at Le Roy Village Highway Garage

The Genesee County Health Department, Division of Environmental Health, will hold an anti-rabies immunization clinic from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Le Roy Village Highway Garage.

The location is 58 North St., Le Roy.

Each dog, cat and ferret brought to the clinic must be leashed or crated and accompanied by someone who can control the animal.

Dog, cat and ferret vaccinations are FREE. Voluntary donations are accepted.
