Public argument ensues in Walmart parking lot after dog owner leaves two dogs in Volvo

posted by Billie Owens in animals, pets, batavia, news.

A complaint came in a few minutes ago of two dogs locked inside a red Volvo in the Walmart parking lot. An officer was called to respond; and susbsequently it was reported that a verbal argument was underway between shoppers and the dog's owner, who returned to the Volvo.

(The National Weather Service in Buffalo says it's 83 degrees outside, with 48-percent humidity.)

I do not know the specifics of this situation. But I do know that there are those out there that jump at the opportunity to call law enforcement just because an animal is in a parked car. I want them to understand that normally the Dogs want to ride with their owner. If the owner has the windows partially open, or the air running, it is OK to run into any store for a couple of minutes and leave the dog in the car. Obviously you can not take the dog into the store. I also want you to report any animal in a parked vehicle on these hot days, with the windows closed, and no air conditioning running. That is inhumane.
